Do you think 1,990,000 Google results for a one-word legal term .net is a lot? Do legal terms resell very well, esp in the .net form? Thank you

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I think using overture and seeing the results would be a better gauge on how much the term is actually searched for

search the word for it only to appear in the url.

if u notice one site uses that word in the url alot, do a url search excluding that site.

Google will give you a good idea of what the rest of the web thinks of that term (your competition!). It doesn't necessarily mean the word is popular among Internet users, it just means the word is being used heavily by the community. Think of it this way - there is a huge difference between 300 searches for a word that 1000 sites are targeting and 300 searches for a word that 100 sites are targeting. Keep researching the term.

The amount of google results isn't necessarily reflective of the amount of traffic a name will get. Something complicated that will not yield a lot of type-ins is probably not a good reg in .net. However, something like DUILawyers.net may only get a few type-ins a day, but the CPC can be great. Keep that in mind.
