discuss Does the domain name with (-) has no value?

I have started domaining before a year and still learning.
I want to know , if there is any value for the domain name with (-) in it...

For example : video-games.com , play-games.com e.t.c

if it has value what could be range between for .com , .net domains?

Few days before i thought of booking "game-consoles.net" and a person told it has no value & not worth it's reg fee.is it true?

There are certain markets that are happy to use a "-" especially the German market.

I myself am a fan of Hyphenated domains....they may not be fast sellers but the market does certainly exist.

The problem is that I would steer clear from a Hyphenated domain on a .net

I tend to keep hyphenated domains in .com or ccTLD.

I wouldn't say Game-Consoles.net is worthless, it's still a very strong keyword. Not sure if you will fetch a good price but I wouldn't call it worthless. Probably one you would have to sit on until a buyer comes along...

Thats the only problem with "-" domains, there is no real fast way to sell them... just have to wait it out. Stick it on the regular market places (sedo/afternic/undeveloped/etc..) then sit tight and wait it out.

Unfortunatley they are not fast sellers but the market for them does exist, off course yours is a little trickier with it being a .net

the name you have, would be fine for a developed website

but for reselling, not some much, being as @deez007 said, a .net

now if it got type-in traffic, that's would enhance value

i sold a hyphen last year .com, for four figures via incoming offer at Fabulous.com

We did not do much ,we just listed ,Afternic ,GoDaddy ,Sedo and the rest of the Market places and we get direct visits to www.vr-action.com

I would avoid everything else.

I've got some hyphenated names for historic reasons, but I did register one recently. I got it with the hyphen to turn a dictionary word into a double entendre The name was EU-genics.com and I registered it to comment on the eugenics policy of the deep state and the EU.

every time i visit germany i'm amazed by the number of hyphenated .info i see

totally agree. but from seo point of view that's exactly where the dash shouldn't be because dashes don't concatenate a search phrase.

I picked up a dropped name RC-HELICOPTERS.com mainly because I like RC planes etc. The value of the non hyphenated name is 20 times. Search for this hyphenated name (UK Google) and it shows 5.1 M searches, the non hyphenated name shows 2.2M searches. I don't understand that!

It's easier to read a domain name with a hyphen especially if it's a longish name. Maybe as more .com domains are bought a good hyphenated domain could increase over time.
