Do you list your names for sale immediately after registration?

I'm coming to the conclusion that it would be better for me to do this, rather than ending up with a load of half completed sites. Of course I get the odd purchase enquiry, and then I have to decide if I want to abandon the "work in progress".

Yes!

Any name we reg as a likely name for sale gets put up for sale same day, ASAP.

Acquired 5 names this week and each was listed " for sale " within an hour of purchase confirmation and, all files I use for their specific data storage completed too, ASAP.

And if acquire a name / s for use as re-directs also set 'em up same day, ASAP.

Like others mentioned -- as soon as it hits my account, I set it up at my online market place (Landing page is Efty but I also update my marketplace at ToughDomains)

I list my domains for make offer on multiple marketplaces and make my own lander on my site straight away.. would really like to get in to renting domain space as some consistent income stream but don't know where to start. If anyone wants to give some advice feel free to PM! :xf.grin:

Epik has the option to rent and/or lease domains if they are registered with them (you can still list in their marketplace if they are regged elsewhere). Right now it is 8.49 for a .com and 8.10 per if you pre fund your account.

I have rented domains before, but it hasn't always worked out, sometimes after a while the tenant gets lazy and assumes that s/he owns the domain and figures you cannot sell it to anyone else, since it has been off the market for so long, so to speak, or simply gets used to having it without laying out much money, and offers very little to buy it.

Better, are payment plans, where the price is set and buyer gets the domain after the final payment, or, if does not make all payments, you simply take the domain back. You allow them the full use of the domain immediately, and set nameservers however they like, but do not transfer title on the domain until/unless final payment.

Another option is lease with option to buy, where the purchase price is set. Somewhat like an automobile lease, with low payments and a residual.

Great advice both thanks, I imagine renting / leasing to buy a domain could be useful where a customer doesn't want to pay your full asking price straight off, rather than lose the sale completely I could offer them a rent. Thanks :)

No, I sometimes offer the client the option to use DomainAgents, but since Iโ€™m an established domain broker and my company has been domaining since 2002, they seem to trust me so I just execute private contracts directly with them.

I'm quite pleased with my Fox Foo experiment, although it's taking a lot more time than I thought. The objectives are -
  • It needs to be quick to add a new name
  • Include a sales page for direct navigation of the name
  • Link to a BIN or make offer page in a registrar market site
  • Be included in a sales list on the site homepage
  • Preserve search traffic for the keyphrase after the name has been sold.
  • Require minimal hosting resources
If it turns out to be a success, I might have a go at writing a page generator

Yes, with immediate effect. I sold a name just 5 days after reg, date.

And what's Fox Foo?
http://foxfoo.com/

I'm not sure about the rules for listing our own sites here - it seems to vary from board to board, and that is why I didn't post the link. It's also very embryonic, as I haven't done any of the css - it's just text and a few images. I wanted to work out the cross-linking and URL forwarding before I spent too much time on design.

Got it. You can visit mine too,

https://namecape.com

maybe you'll borrow some additional useful ideas. I developed everything from scratch. I worked extra on complex search mechanism, being one of the problem areas even with many popular marketplaces.

Landers too are tested and they convert a bit above average.

Nice prices. :)

My problem was designing a lattice structure, and retaining the search traffic after a name sale. This is why I don't include the extension in the directory or much of the text. For a name like Bitcoin scammer, I can add some text articles, and try to get the page into the search rankings, then when the name sells, I can take out the links to the domain name sales, and substitute links to other Bitcoin sales pages.
I noticed that with your site, a direct navigation hit goes to the registrar sales page, on mine, it goes to the sales directory on Fox Foo.
