I think Epik is building the best ever Domain Lander in the history of domaining, and it really needs to be talked about extensively. That's why I am creating this discussion thread. A lot of thought process really goes into the project. And I can see (for the first time) a landing page that is built from the stand point of domainers rather than for just the marketplace itself.

Everything you have ever dreamt of getting or seeing in a professional landing page can be found in the new Epik marketplace landing page design.

Some of my Favorites Features:

1. The ability to optimize your "domain for sale" landing page to actually rank on Google, displaying your sales pitch/domain description. I just did that with few of my generic domain names such as ASAP.TV, targeting certain keywords, and they are showing pretty well on Google. That's a huge plus in my marketing effort.

2. Being able to change background image is another huge one for me. If you are good with pictures and images, you will surely find this very useful. I did that with Nagasaki.org and the result was truly amazing, showing the city of Nagasaki right at the background.

There are too many positive features and I don't want to mention all of them, all alone

So I am leaving you guys to share and discuss what you loves most or dislike about the new Epik marketplace and the landing pages.

The only negative for me is the checkout process. There are too many terms and conditions buttons to tick before checking out. It will be nice if they can streamline those into one beautiful big button

They also need to place the checkout button directly under the payment options. Right now it is awkwardly place somewhere below at the sidebar, which I don't find cool at all.

Sales experience is also welcomed in this discussion. I haven't had any sells so far at Epik because I started using the marketplace just recently, but the future is looking so bright.

Its seldom that I involve myself in another companies dispute. Its also important for me not to be blindsided by any actions or disruptions in the future that could jeopardize the account holders portfolio because of lack of details. This entanglement indirectly involve all Epik domain name account holders. Any possible future sanctions against Epik can affect our domain portfolios. In the business world when their are strained relationships you move on and seek a different solution. If a company feels wronged let the attorneys and judicial system litigate the defamation argument. Its only prudent that I pay close attention to the outcome of this issue and hope it will have a amicable resolution. THEN should the company critique its actions going forward and evaluate the strategies it used to commadere compliance. IMO

Whenever I have to check "my transfers", the default sort order is from oldest to newest. I think it should be obvious that people checking their transfers are more likely to be interested in their recent/ongoing transfers than in something they transferred when the Persians were besieging Athens...

The registrar part seems up, but the main one seems to be having an origin issue..
east.epik.com or registrar.epik.com depending on the version you need to access (to manage your existing names)

Its takes so much work to grow a company. Rob taking calls must inhibit his available time to grow the company.

There is a reason that most ceos prioritize their time based on an inside out strategy rather than an outside in strategy.

I want Rob to focus on perfecting his product.

He should delegate your calls to a qualified surrogate.

I remember at the time of the Best Registrar vote and the conversation about all the employees voting, there were 50 at the time. And talk how it might be a problem because they said there would be more. They dropped to 38. So some badges have opened up.

I haven't been paying attention to it, until I read in some other thread somebody asking Gube the same question, if he was still with Epik. I took him as a loyal, hardcore part of Epik, so was surprised he didn't have the badge anymore. That's when I checked that page. I remember it being 50, now it's 38. The talk was it could go over 100 and then what are we going to do about the polls, should employees be allowed to vote, all that stuff. So it's going the other way. I think Samer has earned it, hovering over Epik threads when he's not sleeping.

This is nonsense. We completely re-did the site in early 2020. There is zero discussion about tax.

The problem there, Rob, is that's not true:

I just took that screenshot. It's not from an archive.

So, sure, earlier this year you removed the "Tax Advantages" item from the checkmark box, but the page, RIGHT NOW, suggests that Masterbucks can be used to avoid income and capital gains taxes.

Tax advantages? It was incorrect wording, good that it was removed.

Incorrect wording? The archive shot is from 2018, and Rob M says they "re-did the site" in 2020. So, two years is a long time to be advertising "Tax Advantages". And if that was "incorrect wording", then what are the correct words for what they were trying to say?

Aside from which, the stuff about capital gains and income tax is still on the Epik.com site. Their Twitter account has already attempted to explain it away as an "archive" that referred to swaps of zero value domains, but that doesn't sound anything like "brokered sales" which would have capital gains or income tax implications in the first place.

I'm neutral but I'm leaning toward epik because my portfolio needs them to succeed in order for me to make money. They are one of two competitively priced registrars that offer both sedo and afternic fast transfer as well as catchall email forwarding. The other being namesilo. Dynadot sort of does it but they have issues with the email forwarding if you set the DNS a certain way.

I don't mean to get involved, but you posted a screenshot from 2020 that has the word "tax" in it and are using that to prove they are advertising tax evasion. The sentence says nothing of the sort. "another significant issue is ***" that does not say "please use masterbucks to avoid taxes".

However, that being said, they should have never admitted or stated that they have any sort of partiality toward either political wing. That was not professional and they might be able to limit the damage to just domainers and a mashable article if they stop now and take the position that they are just a domain registrar, not a right wing conservative domain registrar, just because someone once accused them of something. most people don't even know about that. But if mainstream news articles start coming out saying they are right wing, then we are sunk.
