Discuss your Epik Experience!

I think Epik is building the best ever Domain Lander in the history of domaining, and it really needs to be talked about extensively. That's why I am creating this discussion thread. A lot of thought process really goes into the project. And I can see (for the first time) a landing page that is built from the stand point of domainers rather than for just the marketplace itself.

Everything you have ever dreamt of getting or seeing in a professional landing page can be found in the new Epik marketplace landing page design.

Some of my Favorites Features:

1. The ability to optimize your "domain for sale" landing page to actually rank on Google, displaying your sales pitch/domain description. I just did that with few of my generic domain names such as ASAP.TV, targeting certain keywords, and they are showing pretty well on Google. That's a huge plus in my marketing effort.

2. Being able to change background image is another huge one for me. If you are good with pictures and images, you will surely find this very useful. I did that with Nagasaki.org and the result was truly amazing, showing the city of Nagasaki right at the background.

There are too many positive features and I don't want to mention all of them, all alone :xf.grin::xf.grin:

So I am leaving you guys to share and discuss what you loves most or dislike about the new Epik marketplace and the landing pages.

The only negative for me is the checkout process. There are too many terms and conditions buttons to tick before checking out. It will be nice if they can streamline those into one beautiful big button :xf.cool:

They also need to place the checkout button directly under the payment options. Right now it is awkwardly place somewhere below at the sidebar, which I don't find cool at all.

Sales experience is also welcomed in this discussion. I haven't had any sells so far at Epik because I started using the marketplace just recently, but the future is looking so bright.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I've just had one of the best, if not the best support experience I've had online. Truely amazing support team, with Nhi attending to me. (y)(y)

Anybody knows if there is a way to delete Forwarding in bulk or do we have to do it for each domain individually. If that's the case it will take a long time to make any changes to Forwarding when it's for more than just couple of domains.

IMO

I was just looking into this myself and about to go to either plan "B" the API or plan "C" something outside the box :)

Why this internal redirect chain (additional unnecessary redirects)???
See screenshot... I just set Epik forwarding per this domain...
On subdomains it must be the same as on root, just instant redirect to the assigned destination...

After redirect to Epik main page via Affiliate URL - AffID is displayed in the address bar...
It is better to not show it... just cookie is enough...
Was asked in January...
Still not fixed.

Multiple redirects do appear with many default server or control panel setups imo... This can be fixed as far as I remember (had similar config somewhere once, was able to fix myself with no major headaches). Epik appears to be using nginx for redirects. On a spot view:

https://serverfault.com/questions/802961/avoid-double-redirect-nginx
https://serverfault.com/questions/258378/remove-www-and-redirect-to-https-with-nginx

Registrar-based redirects do basically work. But, for advanced redirect rules, with better stats etc. - an own server is a must... Even a small LAMP Stack on vps makes you a God :) Multiple robots.txt files by subdomain or protocol? GeoIP-based redirects? Redirecting httpS? Sky is the limit... And, for registrars it is just a headache since the customers are asking but not paying for this particular service...

I also use 1and1 for redirects - and no such chains there.
Just 1 external redirect as expected.

And not just Epik forwarding...
The same abnormal chains using Epik parking...
To see - open httpstatus.io ("Canonical domain check" must be enabled) and submit any Epik parked domain...

Is there (and if so, where can I find) a format for excel/csv that I can upload my domains in that includes pricing and all the other info fields? Would like to update all my domains on Epik.

I like many things about Epik,
therefore I am transferring more domains there.

Anyway, two things could be improved:

1. The marketplace search function

Let's say you have the domain name HotelSearch.com (example, not my domain).

If "hotel" is entered, then probably all (2000) domains with "hotel" are listed, but yours will not be seen.

If "search" is entered, then all domains with "search" are (probably randomly) listed, and yours will most probably not be shown (without long browsing).

If both keywords ("hotel" and "search") are entered, then no domain is shown. HotelSearch.com would have been the perfect result of this search.

It means that only one keyword can be entered. And then it is a lottery.

2. Categories of a domain in the marketplace cannot be edited (and are randomly selected)

e.g.:

American Lawsuit .com is in the category "FOOD".

Thanks for the feedback.

A bit marketplace filter upgrade is coming. We'll review that one.

@dombastic

Thank you for the feedback.

We will share the comments with the development team and will resolve these issues. Especially the multiple keyword searches.

Currently, we are in the process of updating the marketplace as @Rob Monster shared.

Some of the features and improvements that are coming:
  • Mobile view enhancements
  • Better Navigation and browsing experience
  • Layout fixes on the Marketplace domain detail page
  • You will be able to manage your domain's settings from the Marketplace front-end side when you are logged in.
  • Global enhancements to the User Interface and User Experience
  • and More

Not sure if this link error has been reporter earlier but here is something I wanna share.

After one approves Afternic Fast Transfer email - the success message shown has an incorrect hyperlink.
See screenshot for more details.

The "Terms and Conditions" text is linking to https://registrar.epik.com/ instead of https://www.afternic.com/legal#terms_of_use

I see that only parked domains registered at epik show a P indicating it's parked

I think all parked domains should show a P if parked

Quick question regarding the NL venue. If you put in a bid it states you will need to have enough account credit to cover the bid + renewal. Does it really have to be account credit?

What I you have an attached CC or PayPal agreement, or masterbucks even? I'm not a big fan of having a lot of money as account credit with each and every registrar I deal with.

It works as long as there is a valid payment method on deposit. The system will try account balance first because it is the fastest to process but then it will process using other methods that are on the account.

Thank you. That was very fast. From your POV I understand account credit is the fastest and easiest to work with. Have a great weekend!

Sure, people who use our API or "Express checkout" feature for hand-reg during the drop do best when they use in store credit as the payment method since it saves time when a second is an eternity.

Very good point and solid advice for those who handreg on the drop!

Every microseconds count if that's your gameplay, on the drop, that's where a lot of money is being made imo.
