Discuss your Epik Experience!

I think Epik is building the best ever Domain Lander in the history of domaining, and it really needs to be talked about extensively. That's why I am creating this discussion thread. A lot of thought process really goes into the project. And I can see (for the first time) a landing page that is built from the stand point of domainers rather than for just the marketplace itself.

Everything you have ever dreamt of getting or seeing in a professional landing page can be found in the new Epik marketplace landing page design.

Some of my Favorites Features:

1. The ability to optimize your "domain for sale" landing page to actually rank on Google, displaying your sales pitch/domain description. I just did that with few of my generic domain names such as ASAP.TV, targeting certain keywords, and they are showing pretty well on Google. That's a huge plus in my marketing effort.

2. Being able to change background image is another huge one for me. If you are good with pictures and images, you will surely find this very useful. I did that with Nagasaki.org and the result was truly amazing, showing the city of Nagasaki right at the background.

There are too many positive features and I don't want to mention all of them, all alone :xf.grin::xf.grin:

So I am leaving you guys to share and discuss what you loves most or dislike about the new Epik marketplace and the landing pages.

The only negative for me is the checkout process. There are too many terms and conditions buttons to tick before checking out. It will be nice if they can streamline those into one beautiful big button :xf.cool:

They also need to place the checkout button directly under the payment options. Right now it is awkwardly place somewhere below at the sidebar, which I don't find cool at all.

Sales experience is also welcomed in this discussion. I haven't had any sells so far at Epik because I started using the marketplace just recently, but the future is looking so bright.

I have complained about this before, nothing was done to resolve the issue.

It could be that Epik has prioritized the customers when it comes to how long they can stay logged in, it could be from unlimited time to just a few minutes depending on where you fall in the system. But I believe that this issue will be resolved soon now that Epik is in the process of upgrading their servers and and are optimising their systems to be much more efficient.

IMO

It is not being ignored.

There is a large project to deploy all services to a unified secure single sign on (SSO). The topic of persistent sign on was discussed this morning in the engineering leadership team and is being deployed.

The historical emphasis has been on security. The engineers have addressed the requirement for persistent SSO and will be deploying to production soon.

This is definitely one where vulnerability testing has been particularly rigorous for reasons that are probably obvious.

Curious how many people experienced this, definitely want to find the source of the problem.

The site was down for me too for about half an hour - tried on multiple devices. Location: Romania.

What are my options if I want a phone number on epik landing to someone who will negotiate on my behalf like Afternic?

We run a Content

It was an issue with a large content publishing customer coming onto Content Delivery Network without prior consent. The Content Delivery Network was overloaded in some cities. It was not a DDoS so the system did route that traffic. It was just a lot of traffic. Some upgrades were deployed. A lot more capacity is on the way. For those not aware, Epik runs its own alternative to CloudFlare called BitMitigate.
Interestingly I have more problems with Epik than probably any other site. Most sites I use are virtually never inaccessible and if I were to go there and it was down I'd think 'wow, that's weird'. But with Epik it is regular enough that I think 'oh, something is going on with Epik again, I guess I'll have to come back tomorrow'. I thought CDNs were meant to make websites faster and more reliable? So does that mean there is an issue with the server for the APAC region or something?...

Sure, you can show or hide a 24/7 chat widget.

You can also show or hide a phone number.

If folks want the ability to show or hide an Epik phone number, we can enable that feature. The number would vary based on the detected user's browser language and country.

Thanks @NicTraders - you are likely being served out of Singapore. Let me check with @Miao about adding a POP in Australia.

I think we can do better in Sydney than we are doing now.

Tokyo is a ridiculously fast 2 milliseconds.

Working fine for me all morning, still fine on Brave Mobile and Desktop.

Curious how many people experienced this, definitely want to find the source of the problem.
I did as well. Problem persisted for ~30 minutes. Attempted to visit via Chrome, Safari, and Brave browsers. Also w/ incognito tabs.

How long does it take to receive money into paypal from masterbucks?

@Rob Monster For some reason Epik goes down for a few hours in Pakistan every few days, I have to use proxy when it happens.

Thanks for the heads-up. Pakistan is a key growth market for Epik. The fact that the problem is resolved via proxy is a bit telling, i.e. that the issue is local. However, will ask @Miao to get in touch with you to investigate local network routing as we may need to add local peering. As for VPN, feel free to use our free VPN at Anonymize.com. It is prudent to use one all the time anyway.

It is usually within 24 hours, depending on when accounting in the USA does their fraud check. I believe all PayPal payment requests are processed as of this time. PM me if something is missing.

We are working on a major upgrade of Masterbucks which will automate payout for verified customer accounts, and also will allow the option of holding BTC balances in the cloud.

Some major engineering deliverables are under way in the countdown to NamesCon. The footprint of domain-related brands is captured in the footer of the attached print media.

The redesign of the SSL landers is mainly being driven by some excellent consolidated input from @BuyBrandWeb.com (aka Praveen) who has has given us some good input on CRM as well.

I will see if @Ala Dadan can provide some design reviews of the modified default layout of the SSL landers in order to get some last input before it goes into production.

Rest assured that nobody's input was being ignored. The development pace is accelerating but also more structured, resulting in greater progress, without disruption and closer to perfection.

almost one month into this, namescon also over still nothing have been done about this, my domains still show prices in pound currency, when will this be corrected? Providing ability to select default currency for each domain.

As I know, currency on Epik lander depends on visitor's IP address...
Yep and it doesn’t work correctly like in india it shows pound currency, in some other country it shows indian currency so i had requested @Rob Monster @DnFolk to be able to set default currency for each domain just like dan does, they told me to wait because of namescon and its almost one month now i’m still waiting. Hope they do it soon. Because converted currency that too wrongly as per IP when it shows in decimals it looks very bad.

The feature you are asking for of freezing a default currency is being fast-tracked. It was just not possible to squeeze it in before NamesCon.

You might also consider Make Offer pricing. You will get more inquiries including from people who might buy for more than you thought you would get:

https://www.namepros.com/threads/yall-wanna-shoot-the-moon.1162085/

Anyway, be assured that the requested upgrade is coming along with a pretty significant set of SEO enhancements and conversion hacks that I think folks will appreciate a lot.

Rob,

Why is there a lag of 2 days+ for whois count and parking visit count? Cannot it be done with a lag of 4/6 hours?

When domain is parked with 'Make offer' option, required fields on the form are 'Name' and 'Email' but it should be 'Email' and 'Offer'.

On the marketplace 'Make offer' form all fields are required, again, I would suggest just 'Email' and 'Offer'.

For 'Offer' you can enter letter, it will be sent as $0. Maybe limit 'Offer' field to numbers only.

When buyer receives counter offer and is not epik customer, buyer is presented with registration form. I guess, if the buyer really, really wants the domain, buyer will register with epik.

On the 'Counter offer' form there are two fields labeled 'Counter offer', second one should be labeled 'Message'.

Edit:
I see no mention on time limit for an offer / counter offer in emails. Set it to 7 days?

In dashboard, when you manage a domain, click on Marketplace, then look at Liquidate, link 'Remove domains from liquidate' should be gray, default is blue, giving impression that domain is listed when it's not.

Edit 2:
Parked domain > Make Offer > Complete the math problem: 1 - 1 is not 0, 2 - 2 is not 0, 3 - 3 is not 0.
How much is it?

Edit 3:
It would be nice to customize for sale page, like:
- remove epik from the top
- remove trustratings.com from the top
- remove share it options
- convert anonymize.com link into just text
- remove icann.org from the bottom
- remove domaining.com from the bottom

Only things that should be clickable are:
- buy now
- make an offer
- details about payment plan
