Discuss your Epik Experience!

I think Epik is building the best ever Domain Lander in the history of domaining, and it really needs to be talked about extensively. That's why I am creating this discussion thread. A lot of thought process really goes into the project. And I can see (for the first time) a landing page that is built from the stand point of domainers rather than for just the marketplace itself.

Everything you have ever dreamt of getting or seeing in a professional landing page can be found in the new Epik marketplace landing page design.

Some of my Favorites Features:

1. The ability to optimize your "domain for sale" landing page to actually rank on Google, displaying your sales pitch/domain description. I just did that with few of my generic domain names such as ASAP.TV, targeting certain keywords, and they are showing pretty well on Google. That's a huge plus in my marketing effort.

2. Being able to change background image is another huge one for me. If you are good with pictures and images, you will surely find this very useful. I did that with Nagasaki.org and the result was truly amazing, showing the city of Nagasaki right at the background.

There are too many positive features and I don't want to mention all of them, all alone :xf.grin::xf.grin:

So I am leaving you guys to share and discuss what you loves most or dislike about the new Epik marketplace and the landing pages.

The only negative for me is the checkout process. There are too many terms and conditions buttons to tick before checking out. It will be nice if they can streamline those into one beautiful big button :xf.cool:

They also need to place the checkout button directly under the payment options. Right now it is awkwardly place somewhere below at the sidebar, which I don't find cool at all.

Sales experience is also welcomed in this discussion. I haven't had any sells so far at Epik because I started using the marketplace just recently, but the future is looking so bright.

Quick shout-out to the talented and funny domainer known as @WhoaDomain.com who I of course know a bit better as a client of Epik with a nice portfolio that we are eager to help monetize in a big way.

I did see his very good idea here:

So, we are going to figure out a way to tag marketplace listings as "Featured Domains" and/or "Rob's picks". I believe these will be reasonably BIN-priced domains that are priced to move and/or Make Offer domains where the seller is motivated to entertain bids even if the BIN price is missing.

In other words, this should be a target-rich list. It could include domains in any of our active marketplaces for that day, e.g. Epik Marketplace, NameLiquidate, or Daily Diamonds. It could also include MLS domains where we have a fast-transfer relationship and are confident that the BIN domain will deliver.

Input welcome here as I am writing up the engineering task. The goal here is to help increase transactional velocity - help buyers find deals, and help sellers get bids.

:wideyed::woot::xf.grin::xf.wink: wow! thanks Rob! wish you would have told me before posting. Plenty of spelling errors on there as usual! Thanks for sharing it.

My girlfriend is reading this right now and she's reiterating already what she's been telling me. That I have good ideas that I give out for free and that I should be a paid consultant! Same as my idea back in the 80's for Ice Skates but with wheels to be used on the road regardless of no winter or ice or snow. hmmm(n):banghead:

Well, as you know, we are big fans of co-creation. We are also fans of giving credit where credit is due and celebrating the genius of others.

And your girlfriend should be extra nice to you because your domain portfolio has a lot of untapped potential. Don't worry though, we return favors around here.

Great idea to promote great deals. Like many other investors, I'm a bargain hunter and hunt in the garbage dump everyday. However, I'm confused. Is it the Epik Marketplace, NameLiquidate, or Daily Diamonds that I should go (have not yet tried them out) for bargain hunting? Is there a central place for bargain hunting? Are they all accessible from within Epik. I"m talking about domains priced below $50 or so. I like the idea that you can do everything about domains from within Epik. Never have to leave Epik. How about that?

Good question @Kassey Lee.

I think the task of aggregating the bargain domains is going to heavily fall on @Gube with NameInvestors.com as smart tools for finding the deals across all inventory sources, whether at Epik or elsewhere. Your Epik login also works at NameInvestors.com, Masterbucks.com, etc. The single sign on trajectory we are on is intended to make it as painless as possible to find a deal, buy a name and have that name start monetizing immediately using your preferred settings.

In line with your suggestion of a sub $50 price point, I will discuss with @Gube specifically about a bargain-finder widget that applies some intelligence to various lists of domains priced under $50. In the meantime, if you don't follow this @DanSanchez thread, I recommend it:

$50 is only a suggestion. I'm sure other investors have other price points which they consider attractive. I sift through thousands of domains at GD Closeout (starting with $11) everyday and I find it very rewarding. If Epik has something similar, that would be great. Yes, I'm a garbage hunter. Ha ha! There must be a way to filter and download domains so that I can run them through my machine for data analysis.

Check to see if the email is going to your email privacy proxy. If the domain is in fact using Epik privacy then your actual email is not even exposed for a second as it is in some other places that require you to decloak at some stage in the registration process. My guess is that the email is coming to your proxy email and that the spam filter let it through.

Yea, its the <newlyregistereddomain.tld>@superprivacyservice.com email that its coming in on. Thanks Rob!

Hi, this is a feedback and also an inquiry about google analytics in Epik.
As you know, currently, the code need to include in every domain.
I find this quite a hassle.
I would prefer if can make somewhat similar like in DAN.
Just one tracker id, update in the setting and BOOM it applicable to all your domains.

You can update it in bulk :)
Here is a guide we made to help set analytics in bulk https://epik.com/support/knowledgebase/add-google-analytics-in-bulk-to-premium-ssl-landing-pages/

It should shown full link of the domain and not just "/".
Do you know what may cause such?
In GA you can create a filter to prepend the hostname to the request URI, see for example:
  • webmasters.stackexchange.com/questions/126610/one-tracking-code-for-many-domains
  • youtube.com/watch?v=FiXonqX5asU
Here is a short copy/paste from the stackexchange answer linked above
Filter Type: Custom filter > Advanced
Field A --> Extract A: Hostname = (.*)
Field B --> Extract B: Request URI = (.*)
Output To --> Constructor: Request URI = $A1$B1
Click Save to create the filter.

Thanks. This is quite an advance step. I will try it later. In Dan, its quite straightforward and i do not need to create anything additional.

It was also explained in the help guide
The reason it may look easier elsewhere is because you are not using the domain, your visitors do not lend on your domain .com but on **marketplaceurl** tld/ your domain
Not sure this is actually optimal.. letting the user on the actual domain is looking better

Happy to help if you encounter any issue to set up analytics :)

As I understood the appraisals shown on Epik within "Performance" section are not Estibot appraisals? Thanks

Fyi Gube, I have disabled my public link in DAN and all my users are actually lend on my domain.com.
It's simple.

Well, than I have noticed for at least two of my domains that value I saw on my Epik account is not the same as value on Estibot!? Or at least is not updated.
