Deciding between two variations of a name

I own AltEnergyToday.com and AlternativeEnergyToday.com. I'm wondering which one is best for development of a site. One one hand, AltEnergyToday.com is shorter, but on the other hand, AlternativeEnergyToday.com has the proper keyword in it.

What do you all think?

Even if AlternativeEnergyToday is longer I do think it sounds better than AltEnergyToday

I would agree - chances are people will search for "Alternative Energy" rather than just Energy or Alt Energy.

Just make sure you encourage your visitors to bookmark the page :)

Search engine wise, alternative is a much stronger keyword that alt when referring to alternative energy. At Overture you've actually got 16,000+ for alternative energy which is not bad at all, and just 107 for alt anergy. Users will also be able to remember it better, because it makes more sense and sounds better. Develop alternativeenergy.com, but keep altenergytoday.com and just do a redirect. You can tell your users the shortcut.

IMHO you should def keep both names. alternative energy is the search term and it is this name which should feed into altenergy which is your brandable name, so altenergy is the name to develop.

Even though AlternativeEnergyToday.com is a long domain, you should develop it as it has a proper keyword in it and is much more descriptive than AltEnergyToday.com.

Thank you very much for all your opinions.

If I can highjack my own thread I have another, loosely related question. I own EasyDegree.com. Degree is a highly searched keyword. But "easy degree" is not. However, the term "Easy Degree" is really self-explanatory and it sounds like a fantastic name to develop into a site that that shows all the places to get accelerated degrees, online and in real colleges (a growing market!). Or, I could make it a site that shows where to get "fake" degrees. (I like the first choice better). Or, I could do both on the same site.

The Adwords bids for degrees is really good. The longevity of this subject matter is assured.,

So, to my question, considering EasyDegree.com just has one of the words as a searched term, would you guys suggest I go forward with putting some effort into developing this name. I really would put time into this to develop a sophisticated site, and not just make it a polished up ad site.

if you buy it because you have a real business and plan to develop, then reg both. But for resale, then you may only register one alternativeenergytoday.com

I like the idea of "fake" degree to develop for EasyDegree
