I'm thinking about an idea to increase income and I'd like the opinion of others if I could.
I currently have at least 200 alternative energy domain names. They've been parked at Afternic with the Fabulous parking option. Although, I'm testing the solar energy ones now with Goldkey.com.
The reason I'm testing them at GoldKey.com is that I'm really having trouble with the solar names. The problem is that if the names do not have the full "solar energy" in them, instead of just "solar" with a modifier, the parking programs will not assume that it is a solar energy name. This is a waste since solar energy keywords seem to do pretty well. This is true of all parking partners and Sedo as well.
I went to GoldKey.com because I am able to set the keywords to what I want (with their approval). Now, I can only do ten at a time, which is tedious, and I'm waiting for them to respond to my support email as to if they can do my 145 solar names bulk. So, I really don't know how this is going to work out yet.
BUT, I was thinking... since I have so many domain names of the same type, what if I drove them to a web site of mine with constantly updated new of the industry, with my own Google Ads (and others) on the site? Would this be better?
I already have a site I created with one of my names, AltEnergyToday.com, which shows the latest news of all the alternative energy areas, plus summaries of blogs in those areas. It's not yet popular since I just created it last week. But, people have told me that it's very useful.
So, what if I unparked all my alternative energy names and instead forwarded them to AltEnergyToday.com? Would that generate more income than individually parked names, most of which do not much traffic to speak of. This way I would be assured of good ad links and visitors might want to actually bookmark the site and come back for more. Of course, I'd advertise on the site that I have Alternative Energy names for sale
I guess it boils down to this question: Assuming I can get good ad links on a parked domain from someone who lets me set keywords, do those sites really ever rise up the search engine page list at all? Wouldn't they all be relegated to being many, many pages back of the first page? If so, no one will every find them in a search anyway, right?
Instead, if I did what I am proposing, would I not increase the popularity of AltEnergyToday.com, moving it further up the search list, causing more people to stumble across it in search engines?
