For example:

mortgagelenderrates.com - keyphrases "mortgage lender" and "mortgage rates"

cheappackageholiday.com - keyphrases "cheap holiday" and "package holiday"

Btw, I picked these names out of the air and don't own either of them.

Just wondering if the keyword rich nature of these domains, though long, will provide any value?

If you could choose between one of these undeveloped domains and a shorter undeveloped domain with not so much keyword significance (e.g. mortgagesite.com or holidaysite.com) which would you choose?

I'd chose the shorter domains. mortgagesite.com is much better than mortgagelenderrates.com. Same for holiday (uk) or vacation (usa). Much easier for a visitor to remember. Keywords in the domain name do something for seo, but no much. Content and links are far more important than the name for seo. (Assuming you were asking about seo implications).

Thanks for the response....probably should have asked this before jumping the gun and buying a domain along these lines but it's all part of the learning curve right....
