Dangit my back is killing me!

Hey guys,

I don't know what to do. After going on a long car drive yesterday, my back started to ache afterwords. Then, last night it really got bad and this morning it's even worse.

I can hardly walk and my back feels like it's going to freeze up and snap if I make the wrong move. Sometimes is keeps me from breathing a little too. It's very painful and I can't even sit up straight in my computer chair anymore - in fact I can't even lean on the back of it.

I have no health insurance (thanks to good old Bush not doing crap about it), so I can't really afford to go to the chriopractor.
Today I spent an hour laying down on my sofa with my heating pad turned up as hot as possible and that did absolutely nothing, except maybe make it even worse.

This is killing me, my back is sheer pain.

Any suggestions on what I can do?
Agh!
Thanks,
-Andy

take a tennis ball, baseball, racketball (or something similar to these) and put one on the floor. lay on your back on top of it and just use your back to massage itself with the ball.

might hurt...(sounds like your knotted up pretty good) but after youve done this for 15-20 minutes..it should be a bit better.. and in a few hours after you've stopped..almost all better.

Could you go and see the local walk-in clinic? Are those free in the US? Maybe the doctor can tell you something :?

Good Luck Andy :tu: !

First, I'm not doctor so this is NOT medical advise! Having said that...

Is it your upper back or lower back?? Lower, I might agree that it has something to do with your back itself... like a strain or a pulled something. If it's your upper back it MIGHT be a back problem or it could be something else... e.g. heartburn, flu, upper respitory infection, heart problem... etc... etc..

If it's your back, my suggestion would be to stop the heat treatment and take some Motrin. Motrin is an anti-inflamitory so it might releave your pain. Be sure to eat something with it so it won't upset your stomach.

In case it's your stomach and/or an acid problem try some Tums or similar antacid product.

Depending on what city your in... there should be a private/walk-in type clinic where the office visit is usually $55 - $75

Good luck!

D-: Is that how expensive it is in the US? It's free here; granted it's not the best possible health care, though.

Heck, that's cheap! That's for one of those small retail type clinic's that have been popping up in the last 5 -10 years! They aren't even "real" hospitals but they do offer a wide variety of services.

Now, a visit to the hospital might run ya $350 or more...just the visit! That's why it's important to have health insurance. :(

We pay alot of taxes here, though; especially in Ontario. 15% on everything plus a hefty amount for income tax. I agree, health insurance is a MUST, IMHO.

My Chiropractor charges me 25 a visit w/o health insurance.... But it could be cause i was a client of his due to a car accident. I didn't have to pay for my Adjustments while going through therapy but now its only 25$ thank god...
