To celebrate 150 years of Canada, CIRA has teamed up with a few domain companies to allow you to register .ca domains at 0.99/$1.00.
It's 1 per account but there is a few participating companies so you can register multiple.
There are 3 at the moment but it changes so you can check out https://cira.ca/ to see if there is any other registers participating.

Some registrars don't allow online auto-renew disable so call them or chat with them to remove auto-renew.
Looks like you have to go to https://cira.ca/ and search for the domain and then click on the registers that show the deals to get the discounted price.
