Hi everyone..

Just starting to explore the world of IDN's.. I am wondering if there is a particular language that commands the most $$?? Also, I was wondering if it's not Arabic (which I'm betting it's not..) then how well do Arabic IDN's stand up next to the other languages?? Is there money to be made with Arabic IDN's? Is there money to be made with ALL IDN's or just certain specific languages???

Cheers! :)

Russian is #1 as of right now.

There is money to be made with all major languge IDNs (Hebrew, Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Thai, and I'm not sure what else, but I know those are doing alright at the moment).

Yes, if you can get very nice keywords for the domain, then that's the money -

Good luck on IDNing !

Thanks for the replies! :)

Another question I have is... Where is the best place to sell?? Here at namepros... or??? Also, is there a "recent sales" list anywhere? Should you try to sell the IDN on a site in it's own language? eg. sell Korean IDN on a Korean language website?

Cheers! :)

One more question...

Would it be better to have an IDN with THAT country's extension.. or is .com still the way to go??

For instance if I have chinese characters.. should I go with .cn or .com??

Thanks!

I think ccTLDs might be fairly successful in different languages, but at the end of the day, .com and .net will free you of government rules and regulations. ccTLDs can be snatched at any given moment with some countries, so always be weary.

Chinese (personal opinion): .cn if .com is taken and I think the world is really worth it (I think .cn will be worth more than com in the end, especially with the government already mapping out idn.idn to idn.cn) and .net if the name is REALLY worth it.

Can't really give stats on Chinese... I'm not sure mine are parked. Probably will re-organize at the end of this month.

.ru is used rather extensively in Russia. Additionally, .co.uk is preferred in the United Kingdom. I read a report that said the .co.uk extension was used something like 65% more than .com

That is some good info!! I guess there would still be good value for the dot com's, but in those country's it may be more lucrative to focus on the ccTld's. Interesting... :)

On that note.. I just picked up ็ฒ‰็บข.net and ็ฒ‰็บข.cn It means PINK in chinese!

Fka200 is correct.
Local tlds are more valuable than .com

In Russia everybody clings to .ru
