REQ-LOGO Chemical Company $50

Not open for further replies.
Type of Contest : Logo Design Company Name: "Lamurindo"

Prize : $50

Contest End Date & Time : 4/20/2015

Size Requirements : High res or illustrator file

Color Requirements : Bright navy blue as main theme.

General Requirements :

As the company is in the chemical industry, we would like something professional but modern.

Our management has decided that logo should not be too different from our current logo.

Attached is our current logo. Maybe it will help if we comment on our current logo.
1. Font is sleek but needs to be bolder (strength). Given the current limited preset Microsoft font, this may need custom drawing of the letters.
2. The logo [LD] is strong but we want to project more personality. We wish if the LD could be some strong object. The object (s) must still resemble L and D.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
This version is for when space is limited and the logo would for example need to be placed in a small corner of a chemical tank or another device.

@bashariqbal @daraptor @NameFu
Please keep the original square form with blue background and white letters. So it must be flat logo without any gradient. The only thing that needs changing is the L D.

In the attached example, the Golfer took a form of a Spartan head.

In our logo, we wish to have an object take a form of L and D. But it must be white on blue square background.

It could help to specify what kind of object you're looking for. This could be an animal, a chemical tank, building, etc. It's possibly a good idea to think this out a little bit. Not to say that designers won't be able to play with more ideas. It just helps them narrow down to a few options.

@NameFu We do not have anything in mind. Could you try lion that is simple outline and not too elaborated. D being the lions head facing right and L being its mane (hair). Or if you could propose other objects.

@daraptor Nice blue colour and font. Could try more designs for the logo? Keep the font, it is best font so far. Also, Keep the edges square and not rounded. Remove the sub-title.

@blairwitchii Hi, thanks for your entry. We are now firm that the design should start from the original logo. Try to enhance from that logo. Thanks!

@daraptor Liking your work so far. Stick with your font for "Lamurindo". For the logo, use square background and for the LD itself please try more shapes, however, LD must be preserved. Please remove "Indonesia distributor" as we have presence in other countries too.

Also can you try some shades of blue within the logo but nothing too fancy, something like shades in the waves of Marathon oil logo. Thanks!

@sheryonline yeah the logo is more balanced now. Any other design other than the chemical box? I've received feedback that it looks like perfume bottle.

thank you so much for the feedback, here are two more logo design variations :

Hi, from what i know chemical industries use mild & bold colors to portray: "Trust, Credibility & Standard" whiles bold color fonts are used mainly to portray: "Strength, Power, Firm Foundation & Credibility".

Since there is a need for re-branding then you need to standout completely even from far.
I came across your post and i thought about a unique identification for your brand, in other words the iconic look of the "LD" characters must not be anything close to a common illustration but uniquely represented.

Below are my designs and first entry for this contest.
All designs are 100% original and are available in high resolutions upon demand.
Your feedback is much appreciated.

Hi all, please understand the delay as it is weekend, feedback has been slow. However after much discussion here it is.

@cron Hi Cron, you're idea is what we are looking for; the use of bold fonts and colour. HOWEVER, after long discussion, the management decided that despite liking it, it feels as if the identity is lost. We have decided that the core of the logo must be like what is attached: ld-alt.jpg (slight edit from original logo by our team).

Although this would leave little room for modification, we wish to explore a few things:
1. Colour. Maybe you can add the green square dots or other colours somewhere in the attached logo in some way that will enhance it. The current one is too plain. Or reverse the blue and white and add something to the logo. But the LD must be preserved. Simply put, we do not want to change the LD identity but we want to make it more standout.
2. Placement of words relatively to the logo.
Our previous problem: Our logo is tall while the company name is long. Problem 1 (attached): If we place the company name beneath our logo and justified, and if we were to print rectangle to paste onto our trucks, there will be huge white space on the right and left of the logo, which is undersirable. But this is good for letterhead. Problem 2: If we decrease size of the font such that its length matched the width of the logo, the font will be too small for branding. Problem 3: If we place company name to the right of logo (horizontal) and make the logo as tall as the company name, logo will be too small.

One solution we think of is to play with the fonts. Add strokes, lines, colour, or outline etc so that it stands equally tall as the logo.

Therefore, we need a design that we can use anywhere, not only letterhead but for trucks. So one design for everything i.e. unified design.

3. Also we will need help for the current L and D to be properly drawn (proportion especially). File "ld-alt" attached.

@bashariqbal Thank you, but we have decided to stick to the "ld-alt" jpg style for core logo. Please propose ways to enhance it as above comment.

@FusionSpy The first one is too playful. Please refer to above comment.

@sheryonline Your concept is nice, but it is too informal.

@blairwitchii Please refer to above comment.

The problem with "ld-alt" img is that the letter D can't be distinguished just as D but it can also be read as O. The people here know it that it is D bcz we know that but any 1st time viewer can't distinguish actually what it is, LD or LO.
And for the problem you are talking can be solved by having 2-versions of the logo, like this
28981_4bf074dcedea8efa45b8febadfc7fbe5.png

Almost all the companies having long names apply this approach for branding.

Hi, thanks for the feedback,
It's weekend here too, i can work with this. I see the white space at both the left & right. The "LD" needs to be redraw in the same pattern and stretched as well so that the name "LAMURINDO" can be inline whiles under it.
It will take sometime because i have to figure out the fonts and the colors used on the attached image.
Will be updating soon.
Regards.

Hello, any feedback on my design?

@cron Hi Cron, we are thinking of making it horizontal, logo on the left, company name on the right. Since the company name will not be tall enough, some decorations might be added to make it taller overall. See Mi-Swaco logo I attached previously.

@daraptor Sorry, the thread had reached third so quickly that I missed your design on previous page. We have decided to use the LD "ld-alt.jpg" as the basic design, please edit the design from there. As above, our management has decided to not change the logo too much as we want to preserve the indentity. Yet, we wish to make it more lively. So we are thinking of logo on the left and company name stylised with custom design on the right. Cron's use of colour on the words is nice. Bashariqbal's colour shades are nice too but we would prefer light blue than light purple. Please use shades or effects only on the company name.

As the design is getting better and now heading to a more certain direction, we would like to extend it for another 3 days to end on the 23rd.

Thank you for the feedback. Working on the design, will present you with it soon.

Regards

Daraptor

Hi,
@epermana ,
I saw your last post on how best to improve the current logo without it losing it's present identity totally.
When you have to make large resolution files the "D" character on your present icon will make your icon unnecessarily tall. That problem will still be there, so i did some titling with the fonts and blended with the best of blue range colors.

Below is my second entry for this contest which was mainly inspired by the miswaco logo and the ld-alt.jpg.

I think this concept is easier to digest in terms of re-branding, it's simple but yet sleek, am hoping you all find it interesting and worthy.
Your feedback is highly appreciated.
Regards.
