The last two names I've sold through BB was SureWorth and MassVenture and they were not staff picks, but buyers found them anyway

Thanks, but i don't think its right that they have it automatically switched to staff picks, most of those names are probably owned by them. How will our names sell if nobody sees them? I tried their search, i have a name listed (pinama .com) you would think that a buyer typing in "Pin" in the search would find my name? No

Your name is on page 9 out of 18 when using the keyword "Pin" in the search bar. You would think that a name that was just added to the system would at the very least be on page 1 when the keyword is searched. These are the types of things that made me decide to remove all my names from BB.

Congrats on the sales. Got two up on there myself, will be pleased when they eventually sell.

Margot said in an interview with DomainSherpa that a large majority of sales happen after a user has searched for a certain term and found similar names.

I got 5 of 10 approved last I sent them names and 4 of them ended up as a staff pick, so it is not only their own names they pick

Nice - what were your names that got "staff picked"? Which one didn't?

This isn't exclusively BB related, but I have started a site, HandReg.com, where I will be posting daily insights (everyday :0 )of my most recent domains purchases and sales. I just put up my first post about a name that I sold last year on BrandBucket. For names that I haven't sold through BB, I will be able to give you prices as well.

Hopefully this will be beneficial to some of you, and I hope to get some other domainers to post their experiences as well.

Just wondering, i found nice 5L domain name and i did a search about this domain history.
I found that the name was previously in use for a small startup that didn't survive.
Do you think that is worth purchasing the domain and to try to sell it in BB, or there is no point because he has a trail on the net ?

If you get it for 99 cents at Go Daddy, for example, then there is little risk. You may have to spend time and money re-branding it IF the former brand was not a lucrative keyword/ad fetching brand. If it were me, I'd spend 99 cents and maybe even 8.50 to renew it next year to see where it goes. Total outlay per year is low to see where it goes.

It's been 42 days since I submitted my first name to BB. I'm hoping they start looking at them within a couple weeks. 2 months was the timeframe I had in my head from reading others' posts.

I guess having 1000+ domains listed at BB, like mr Krell does, helps a lot with seeing a steadier stream of sales. 6 sales should be about 0.5% of his BB portfolio. 0.5% is not even one name in a portfolio of less than 150 names. Then again all brandables are not created equal, so some smaller portfolios probably see a much higher sales % on a month to month basis...

It would be nice to see sales stats like Sedo, Afternic, DNJournal, DomainNameSales, etc, etc put out. Correct me if I am wrong but I cant find any sales stats on "brandables" other than them being lumped into all other sales but even at that, I dont see the venue come up as BB or the others. Has anyone else seen this data out there?

Hm... something very interesting - i checked my domains and one of them is with "sold" sign. However I havent received an email. Any thoughts?

I think that happens when a domain is purchased and BB is in the process of verifying the legitimacy of the sale, reaching out to the buyer, etc. I don't think they would notify the seller of a sale until they are certain the sale will go through. They do get fraudulent purchases every now and then, so they have to protect themselves before asking the seller to initiate a transfer.
