Thank you for the information. I will look into the issue with the international domains, especially the issue with Eurodns. Thnx for bringing it up.

Not at this time, and probably not any time soon (not in the next 12 months). Something like that would usually be live after we've done all the major advertising we can and signed up the most people ourselves. We haven't even got to that part yet so a referral program wouldn't be live until after there is not much more we'd be able to do.

But it's still something I will think about. I've changed my thoughts on a lot of things in the past and this could always be something that I can change my thoughts on.

We are about to put the new management live tonight. It is nothing major, it just makes it easier to add and manage domain names as a whole. There is still a lot to do. But doing this, will allow us to go live with our new landing pages soon after.

One thing I have done recently is looked over the effects of custom content on domain parking revenue. This has been talked about a lot before. But the custom content many times hurts domain parking revenue rather than helping it. To break it down, the only way custom content can really help your revenue earned via Bodis.com is if the domain name already doesn't have ANY traffic to begin with, and you are crossing your fingers that adding the custom content will hopefully get smaller search engines to index it. Although, even that idea is completely flawed.

Google already does not index parked domain names properly. The indexed content is deep in their result pages making it nearly impossible for custom content to help getting traffic from Google in ANY WAY. I've looked over our logs, and there is about no traffic coming from Google for keywords that are found in custom content.

The other smaller search engines: MSN, Live, Ask, and AOL almost send no traffic. As if they de-index parked pages.

The only source of traffic is Yahoo, and they put more weight on the title and keyword links rather than custom content, making the custom content almost completely useless.

So my idea is to get rid of Custom Content as a whole. We started Bodis as a different solution where you can add text to your parked pages. But we quickly realized we are NOT the solution for building out custom content sites, instead we are better at monetizing domain names with type-in traffic.

Ultimately, I do not want people to waste time adding custom content and lose revenue while doing so. Custom content distracts the user and causes the CTR to drop. It also makes things easier for us to leave it out for now, which can help us get things done faster and improve ROI (especially on our newer templates that we will be releasing).

I want to get some member opinions on this before I commit to it. If I do go ahead and remove custom content as an option, I will be sure to send out an email newsletter informing everyone about the changes ahead of time.

You are probably correct about custom content, but I appreciate the ability to add in an affiliate banner - the commissions are real.
If you remove custom content can you keep affiliate banners?

Hey Matt. Great update and I'm excited about the new upgrades.

My best name perfoms with zero content, just the domain name and a little tag underneath it. Custom content didn't seem to do much for most of my domains. They either get traffic or thay don't.

For me content dissappearing is of no concern. That being said, a lot of members have spent a lot of time customizing their pages, and I mean really customizing them.

Maybe conduct a poll here on Namepros or send an email survey to your members to see what the concencus is before you make a final decision.

That is not possible since the new landing pages which REPLACE the current template, should be live either tomorrow or Friday and they use the same gray color.

The idea is to allow people to tune the things that improve revenue the most. This is another reason why I wanted to cut down on custom content. And colors can help revenue, but our new templates are all gray color tone and do not require any color changes.

In the future if we do have color based templates it will be automatic based on the type of domain name, keywords, and user behavioral data.

Matt...are the numbers coming in quicker or is that just my imagination?? Usually change every hour on the half hour for me but I Just saw my stats update up before then.

The only thing that should be faster is the loading time of the reports and other pages as the whole backend was re-written for this update.

What do you mean? The performance numbers for the keywords should update every 30 or so minutes as well.

Mine only used to come in every hour, like clockwork, on the half hour.

Mine seem to be updating the way you mention now.

Actually I'd have to look back at what I promised. I know I said I'd release it but I was under the impression that I said the one after this one.

But the search feature is being currently worked on and is going to be in the next management update. The next management update will not take as long as this one.

If it is that important to you I can get it released separately within the next day or two.

Matt - 1) One aspect, being able to search for your domain is huge. It will increase my productivity (and others) when working in your site by 40% automatically. Currently with a large portfolio it is vital functionality. 2) Can you give more insight on the color option and how that impacts existing domains? I have domains which I have had for months with colors, will they eventually all turn gray as you noted? (I think excluding the color for period is great by the way.)
