As I hail from South Africa myself I see this as a very positive signal for .Mobi in Africa. Already I see that many key companies, radio and TV stations and newspapers in South Africa have regged .Mobi domains. This is a big surfing event and will get the .Mobi name out to a large audience IMO.

This is historic news for Dot Mobi and Africa..

Great to hear about greater access to information to the world's masses which transforms lives unmeasureably.. through the mobile phone, with internet, a new experience - for most people in the world who can't afford or have not had a computer $$!

I have noted that key to Dot Mobi's strategy is global adoption viral spreading early on.. I hope Dot Mobi and the mobile internet revolution doesn't just follow the dollar.. but uplifts those who really need it most in the process of global expansion.. to help the people survive.. in places that aren't always a focus..

This is a testament and a sign for watching "the people" of developing countries in particular.. to make sure they are not left out.. and the whole world is uplifted timely for the betterment of human relations and closeness..

This happening in South Africa can be a light to spark other dot mobi initiatives.. particularly humanitarian.. to encompass the whole continent..

Anybody have any humanitarian dot mobi plans?

I used to run a site NGOS.com.. I had been to grad school earlier to study NGOs. My goal was, and still is, to help save lives.. making a humanitarian difference online (I had to take NGOS.com down because it was becoming too dangerous).. landed humanitarian.mobi (and streetchildren.mobi) - big responsibility for me sometime in the future perhaps, I dunno when/if it's time..
