Somebody took ~6000 llll.com over the weekend. I randomly sampled a few of the domains and they are registered thru different registrars. I will keep track and see whether the names are released back in the grace period.

Now the avaiable llll.com stands around 76K.

I just sold a LLLL.com about a week and a half ago at Afternic for low xxx. Once available LLLL.com's start getting down around the 25k mark, there will be a made rush to start regging what's left of them.

EDIT: BTW, the domain I sold was NOT pronunciable.

I've been grabbing some 4 letter .com's at snap with some other NPers (We're friendly about it :) ) and was surprised to get 4 of them today at snap "reg fee" ($60) that I thought were quite good. 2 radio station callsigns and a couple solid acronym letter combos...
Still not too much competition when picking out the "gems", but it's getting more crowded all the time :tu:

I recently made a list of available LLLL.com for my Italian domain forum.
I'm attaching it :)

Some may have been taken in the meanwhile, but I sorted them by letter for easy checking.
have fun

Try changing the excel folder into the cartel.. they are divided in folders for easy reading..

I know www.avuw.com has some available LLLL.com's as well, but the site hasn't been updated in a while (so many of the domains listed are actually taken).

When do you axpect the price of LLLL.com domains to rise? Do you expect it to have as much of an inpact as LLL.com did?

I forsee that the initial price jump could be double reg fee for even the worst domains; however, I don't forsee the prices ascending as quickly as LLL.com's have.

Great tool shorty! It was a bit slow yesterday, but has been superfast today.
In the commercial version i would love to see if we can fix one or more letter or number and randomize the rest.

like search for LL'o'L.com or 'g'L'r'L.com

Another thing would be a vowel enhanced version of the tool for pronounciable names.

Great work.
Wish you all the best!

Thanks singx :)

I noticed the slowness yesterday too, i'm relieved to say it was the host and not my script.

Anyway, thanks very much for your suggestion. I've thought about it and it will require a few fundamental changes, but it's definitely doable. I can't believe the amount of traffic that has exploded on there already, I think I have some loyal users already...hehe. :)

I'm going to look into fixing certain characters right away. About your "vowel enhanced version" idea...did you mean restricting it to just vowels? On a side note, i've already got an option in place to restrict the less desirable letters (X,Y,Z,etc).

I have a four letter domain search tool as well...

http://dnbrowser.com/4letterdomainsearch.php

It scans everything live as you search and doesn't cache the available names - if you find something you like... reg it quick!

Enjoy. :hehe:

Erm...I hope you weren't suggesting that I do...? :S

Anyway...

I did a MAJOR update of the scanner over the course of the day. You'll see the interface has changed quite a bit. To facilitate the "character fixing" suggestion made earlier, the input is now more dynamic. It's now separated into 4 boxes where you enter the pattern yourself, as opposed to choosing from a menu.

Enter a capital L and it randomly picks a letter, while lower case l or any other letter becomes "fixed". Enter a capital N and a random number is picked, while any number becomes "fixed." Tomorrow i'll make a wildcard (*) turn into any letter or number, so you can search for any 3char or 4char.

I've installed 2 filters: "Vowels only" means if you enter L, it will only return a vowel, and "Premium characters only" takes away the less desirable letters and numbers.

There's also 2 checkboxes to toggle the number next to the results on/off, and the other toggles whether the unavailable results display too.

I hope you guys like the new additions, please contact me using the email on the site, and incase you've forgot the address, it's www.shortywhite.com/scanner.php. ;)

hi Shorty and greatdomainz,
(bear with me.... )
are you guys your own registrar?
I run on a Reseller API script, but my registrar complains on "abuse" when I do long lists... :(

thanks

No... not at all shorty.

Only mentioned it because some people are hesitant to use domain finding tools for that reason (they search for names and when they go to reg the avails they found - they notice they've already been taken). The comment had nothing at all to do with your tool. :tu:

Nice to hear however i have only 15 more-less pronouncable LLLLs ;)
...with one bad letter each. :]

I would have to be a millionare to invest in taking 6k LLLL`s domains. It`s risky and rather long term investmen. Even if i prefer agressive investing i would not put on it more than 1/8 of my capital.

P.S.
LLLL.com list on NP and selected available LLLL.com list

I wish I had that kind of money! :) No, you can still query the whois databases whether you're a registrar or not. And I don't know about greatdomainz's tool, but mine doesn't pull "long lists", it fetches them live. Compared to other registrars doing thousands of queries every second, it will barely notice mine.

Ohh ok. :P I know what you mean, I got so paranoid about that, it lead to me making my own rough whois, so I know i'm not getting spied on.

I'm averaging 40 uniques a day on the scanner now, excellent folks. It's nice seeing those kind of numbers on my stats page, haha.

I wouldn't get too excited about the amount of 4 letter domains that were bought last weekend. I think you will find that there were a lot dropped since then. My estimates are that the number unregistered is back up to 80000 this week.

I think that drops of 10000 or more are worth taking notice of or a series of 5 or more consecutive weeks where the number of 4 letter domains unregistered are dropping are worth taking notice of.

6000 in one week is still a lot though.

Thanks it seems I will soon retire and meet some of the NPers in las vegas getting out of their minds drinking booze. :D
