This happened to me once. They caught a domain from a year ago. (Mind that it was a SEO domain which for the year passed had lost all its value because the new owner spammed it to death, so forget $79, i would not take it for free.) I was luckier than you because my credit card on their file had expired by then so no charge happened. They then started bombarding me with threats that i must pay for this domain and otherwise they will send the case to collectors and sue me and close my account and what not. I told them that i didnt make this backorder nor i'm gonna pay for this domain and they can screw themselves (well in more polite words of course.) Well after a few angry emails they stopped and they didn't even close my account.
Now in your case unfortunately it could be difficult because they for sure have a fine print all over their ToS about the backorders are forever. Not a lawyer or whatever, but i think the surest way is to send all the docs and scans to your bank and to ask them to reverse the payment.
As for me, two lessons learned:
1. Once in a while login to my SN acc and delete all backorders. Because they ARE there forever.
2. Never ever have a valid payment method on their file, just like with NetSol and other sh*theads.
Thank for this! I’ve slept on the idea of it all, and yea first thing is I’m removing all my info and card numbers from their site .
They apparently opened a Account at network Solutions for me with the name.
Though they have they’re TOS, it is crooked AF! Terms !
I called my bank fraud department last night they couldn’t stop it as it was already pending, I can disput the transaction after it clears!
At this point it me be more head ache to fight it than just keep the damn name , but I’m not happy about this money ( unwilling coming out of my bank account ) for somthing from damn near 3years ago !
I will never use them again and remove all info!
Between my bank wanting a dispute, the name transferred, and a new register account. And SNAP NAMES WANTS ME TO OPEN A SUPPORT TICKET, which will take weeks just form them to Claim their TOS. It would all just be on big long drawn out headache for me, rather than just getting over it and move on.
I hate say it but leaning towards not fighting it BUT as I said here letting others know what can and will happen if you use them ! And 2, make sure to NEVER USE SNAPNAMES ! Aka the Sneak Robbers !!!
This is the on the most shady thing a company has done to me in a very long time time !
Like a car dealership taking a loan out on a car you couldn’t get 3 years ago , but calling you up 3 years later ...” hey congrats on the new car we just bought with your name and money for you “ WTF!!!
