I recently purchased a $9 server, 12 slot CS:S server (WOW, cheap) and didn't expect much from it. They advertised the following in the Web Hosting Offers section.
Game server control panel
24/7 Online ticket support
99.999% uptime
Friendly staff to assist you in any way possible
1) CP was not existant, they said it was only available for HLDS games AFTER I purchased.
2) Only George Goldman was working on the site.
3) Friendly staff - talk about incompetency, asking ME for help instead of the other way around.
It took 2 days to get my source server as they said that Steam's content server was down. Looked at the graphs at Steam's website, "HEY, it's up!" Tried to use my own server and installed perfectly within minutes. Tell them to install Mani Mod, they don't know how to install it! After a day, I finally get Mani mod setup, but hey! they didn't know how to add an admin account. I read and finally knew how to do it through rcon. Here, he says he didn't know how to install a FTP server! He then yells at me saying I'm pushy for not helping him even without asking me, all he stated that he couldn't install the FTP server. So now, I'm posting to the public to warn people not to purchase his cheap gameservers because of these few reasons.
1) He states that he isn't ready for orders yet, but yet he still posts to forums about his offer and he blames his incompetency on me due to me being their first client when they aren't ready yet. If he wasn't ready for orders, why put up a working billing system?
2) His business ethics. Basically changes his terms of service and his advertisements to delete the false advertising that he did. He said it was just a mistake on his part for "misleading" a client.
*WARNING* IF YOU EVER CONSIDERED OR IS CONSIDERING A GAME SERVER FROM STEAMSERVERS.NET, THINK, RETHINK, AND RETHINK AGAIN BEFORE PURCHASING A SERVER THERE *WARNING*
