Dreamweaver 8 is awesome. Simple to use, expecially if you dont know coding etc. You can download a free 30 day fully functional trial at www.macromedia.com

Dreamweaver is setting the standards for now. For free ones, I would suggested NVU and Amaya and GIMP as an alternative to photoshop.

I bought dreamweaver a few years ago, but I never used it. Even an old version is still good right?

NVU is a great free web editor if you don't want to spend any money to start out. After that I'd go with Dreamweaver or do it by hand

On ease of use DW is awful, use frontpage is it really matters.

Being honest I can hand code faster than using dreamweaver (and now I only hand code due to it being tableless).

I bought a 500 page book on web design back in 1998 or something before all these easy programs came out. After I learned, and found these programs, it pissed me off a lot for wasting so much time learning to code when now its drag and drop

I guess dreamweaver is the best. Programs like this are great and all but it pisses me off that know newbs and can make websites. Using dreamweaver requires use to have the ability to operate a mouse..

Frontpage is suitable for beginners when they have the basic formatting knowledge like in MS Word. Dreamweaver, it's much more professional and flexible and the code it produces is much cleaner.

Another advantage of Dreamweaver is that it gives less errors in general browsers.

Frontpage is atrocious. If you are goning to go with any programs use Dreamweaver. Then I would say look at the code and learn what it does. You can learn in Dreamweaver because you can view both the code and see the visual.

Dreamweaver is the best out of all

it is a big program to start if you have low ram .... but anything above 512 is good :)

it is easy to use and have alot more options

I would say Dreamweaver is the best but FP2003 would be #1 for ease of use right out of the box.

The problem I have with FP is like others pointed out, too many errors when viewed in browsers other then IE.

dreamweaver and flash 8 are the best to code in IMO.

Photoshop/ImageReady Slicings are most preferred by me. Afterwards I often use DreamWeaver 8 to finish the parts up. Frontpage is great for newbie web designers, as its CSS, Php and Asp etc. components aren't as nifty as DreamWeaver

How to "polish-up" CS2/ImageReady sliced websites?

I'm a newbie! Buit a web site using Photoshop CS2 and Imageready. It works, but it loads kind of funny because it loads each individual slice--is there a quick fix for this effect using Dreamweaver?

Also, I need to insert a CGI-bin script from Paypal to accept donations for our non-profit, but when I past the script into the code it looks great in Firefox, but completely destroys the layout in IE--anyone else experience this and have some advice??

Many thanks!
