I have seen many people bashing godaddy, so I was wondering which domain registrars do most prefer? And why? Thanks :D

There doesnt exist a "Best domain registrar" it depends what you need and what you prefer.
GoDaddy without coupons would loose a lot of customers. Also I would not use this registrar for high priced domains because of security reasons.
Moniker and Dynadot or Name.com also are all good and reliable registrars.

I'm sorry, I worded that poorly. When I said 'best' I meant it as which do you prefer. Anyways thanks for the insight from both of you.

Happy Day would you mind elaborating slightly on the security issues?

I prefer Dynadot because I am mostly a developer and their user interface works the best for me. In particular I frequently change name servers or A records and they make that easy. I can also check out from a new domain purchase with few keystrokes.

I really like the fact their discount policy is stated up front and applied automatically. None of the "call your rep.", find a promo code that works today, nonsense.

Dynadot is my favorite also.

@SK1990 Just use the Google search about GD security issues "Account hacked" etc. and I think you will find something.

There is no "best registrar" perhaps but there certainly are "worse registrars".

I like internetbs.net, it has low prices, free privacy protection, good DNS nameservers and most of all, I like they are located in the Bahamas and therefore are an 'overseas' jurisdiction which is less politicized and safer than the US, which in my opinion is slowly moving away from freedom into electronic fascism.

They are accredited by ICANN and comply with general rules, but they don't have any extra 'custom' anti-client or pro-corporation policies like the ones GoDaddy is famous for (like taking your domain if you don't reply to emails even though registrant's name, address, phone and fax are correct and then asking $$$ in ransom to get it back, or extending the no transfer period everytime to update the contact info at all, support of SOPA/ACTA, sleazy owner, etc.)

Dynadot and Namecheap can be considered among the best options. Dynadot's control panel is among the most convenient ones to use.

A relatively new player in the field, with attractive prices and a good security level, is NameSilo. Never heard any negative report about them.

I think I will move some domains to internetbs.net because of the prices and the positiv feedback but I always try to keep the number of my registrars as low as possible.

chose domain related to what you want to describe in your site.

Name.com seems to have really good and personal customer service. One of their staff was involved in successfully recovering a client's domain name from a domain hijacker (if I remember correctly).

GoDaddy is good with the discount coupons. Their customer service is alright.

Personal preference:
Namecheap for most domains, love their interface, speed, ease of use, and tech support has always been lightning fast for me.
Fabulous is second choice, love them too. Never had to use their tech support so couldn't tell you about that.
Moniker is good, I keep the more valuable names there for security, but prefer the interface of the above registrars more.
Godaddy I use only when I buy names from domainers; later I transfer them to one of my above faves.
I hear good things about Name and Dynadot but have not tried them, except a couple names I bought that were at Dynadot, and I transferred them out later.
Had names at EnomCentral but their reg/renewal fees are crazy high, don't know if they've sobered up yet or if they still keep prices high.
1and1.com are diarrhea, stay far away from them.
:)

I use namecheap for most of my domains and I also have a domain from netfirms.

Both are good and I have no issues.

I personally like to use Godaddy. Its great to get some cheap domains with all the coupon codes that float around on the internet. My favorite part about godaddy is the fact that you can push a domain to someones account for free. That makes it great for selling domains quickly.

Hello! I'm new here.

I've read the posts above and I was wondering about this "push" feature. When hand registering a name, does the 60 days lock also count for pushes? So would it be possible to register a name at Dynadot and push it, lets say, the next day?

Also what about bought domains? Are these also locked for 60 days?
And are these pushes free?

Thank you very much!

Moving from one registrar to another is a transfer.
Moving from one account to another at the same registrar (ie from one dynadot account to another dynadot acount) is a push.

You ARE allowed to push during the 60 day period. In terms of price, I'm not sure about ALL registrars but I know it's free at godaddy.

I will go for Namecheap, Name.com and Internet.bs. Well they are simple and reasonable. Also much faster.

I have all my domains right now with godaddy, because of the prices for each domain. Been getting a lot of $1 coupons lately and registered a bunch,
