Namecheap and Moniker are the only ones worth to mention. I would score namecheap 95 out of 100 and moniker 80.

Namecheap needs to add the taste and drop feature and make it more clear that .info domain prices are only cheap for the first year. If they fix these two issues I would rank them 100. I like their free whois guard the best. Paypal works very smooth with namecheap.

Moniker has too many issues with their website.
On my moniker control panel, for 6 months there is "1 Domains Pending Registration". I can't remove this annoying message.
It also says "6 Names Listed For Sale" while I have removed all names from sale. Their marketplace is crap. On namecheap marketplace when you buy a domain it is transfered to your account immediately. This is reaslly amazing. In one second the domain you buy is in your account.
I decided to compare moniker marketplace and put a domain on their site. Then I creaeted a new account and bought that name. It took 32 days. Unfortunately moniker doesn't have a free whois guard either. At moniker you can't add funds to your account with paypal even though you can pay by paypal. I prefer to have my funds available when I want to register a domain.

Godaddy is crap. I've had nothing but trouble with godaddy. I would score them 20. They are the most untrustfull registrar. If somebody claims that your whois info is not correct they will try to contact you using your whois info and if they can't they will lock your domain and charge you 30 usd at the end. They are also charging newbies for domain parking. This is the most absurd thing you can hear about domain parking.
Their paypal doesn't work for one time payments. You need to agree for preaproved payments which means anytime they can take whatever money they want from your paypal account for whatever reason they create.

Domainsite not good either. Too complicated website. Very difficult and confusing to assign nameservers.

Update:
Maurie from Moniker has contacted me via forum message and afterwards with email. Its very nice that they are taking into account the issues I have mentioned and trying to improve their service.

BTW, it turns out you can actually fund your account with paypal. It is somewhat hidden though. First you go to "fund account" on top menu. On this page you still see the misleading text about paypal on the bottom but ignore it. Instead click on "add to cart" next to $50 or whatever and you can then chose paypal to pay this amounth.

It looks like I was also not exactly correct on namecheap giving free whois guard. It is only free for the first year.

MarcelProust: Did Moniker stop allowing account funding? Their pricing page still states "Paypal payments can be made to Legal(at)moniker(dot)com and you must state your account number and package you are purchasing. Once funds have cleared, we will purchase this on your behalf."

Also, NameCheap's WHOIS privacy is only free for the first year. It costs $2.88/year afterwards. Moniker's WHOIS privacy is $1/year. If you plan on keeping a domain for more than a year, Moniker has better value.

I've used GoDaddy for two years now and never had ny troubles there. GoDaddy has the best support. They respond in minutes. Also the prices are great.

Why? Because they're doing the right thing? Fake WhoIs is illegal.

This has nothing to do about registrations at godaddy. This is an optional service.

Duting the checkout, you have two options: "PayPalยฎ Account" and "PayPalยฎ Account on file at GoDaddy.com".

You are correct. This is exactly what it says and what I don't want to do. I think you have not actually tried funding your account with paypal. Have you? On namecheap you can add funds immediately with paypal.

1. login to your namecheap account
2. click on "my account">"add funds" and chose paypal.
3. namecheap will redirect you to paypal's website and when you complete you will be redirected back to namecheap. When you come back funds will be there. All this can be done within a minute.

On moniker they want you to email them and they will check manually if the funds have arrived and all this takes a long time. I want to add funds on my own without any assistance. They are saying that have added a paypal button but the button is nowhere to be found and the old text that you have quoted is still on "fund account" section.

The sale that took a month was a domain registered at moniker not somewhere else. This is why I'm comparing moniker marketplace with namecheap marketplace. At namecheap marketplace you can sell a namecheap domain and it will be transfered out immediately to buyer. At moniker I sold a moniker registered at moniker and it took 31 days and 5 emails when finally the domain was transfered to buyer. I was the buyer and the seller and used two different account just for the sake for testing their speed.

On namecheap you put the domain for sale within your control panel. There are the usual buttons such as "change contact details", "assign nameservers" etc. and just next to them there is another button that says "list domain for sale". Their marketplace is part of their website and this integration and speed is perfect.

I like moniker. Their taste and drop is next to none. Nobody beats them on this. Pool.com offers a smillar feature but is too demanding on fundings. On the other hand moniker needs to improve their website and marketplace.
