Hello everyone,

Finally i have re-uploaded the loved automated tutorial for everyone's shakes. I am sorry about the delay in getting it all up and running again. It's been one of those projects that keeps getting bogged down.

As i said before, i have made $100s off of using this automated site system, many people never revel their secrets but this is honestly so simple, any and everyone should be able to use this help themselves and their websites visitors.

Using RSS is a key way to keep people informed but at the same time it can be used to make an automated website which is what i plan on showing here very briefly i will be creating a video tutorial for a more in-depth explanation of some tips and tricks.

The first KEY step is finding your websites niche and domain. After all your domain and niche is going to make yourself known!

Of course you'll need a preexisting template. If you'd like you can use a free open source template which if your just beginning is a great way to go; on the other hand if your experienced you are more thanw welcomed to use your own xhtml & css templates. As a matter of a fact any website that allows javascript can use this.

You'll need to find an rss feed that matches your niche; example you run a music website, you grab itunes rss feed for top songs of the day. Copy the link.

The part where i come in is here. In order to take the RSS feed and turn it into place able code for your website you need to visit this website
My RSS CODE - The source for your RSS to Java!

Enter your selected RSS Feed URL into the text box, and select your settings (there is a description about each little setting and as i said earlier i plan on doing a video tutorial to go more in-depth).

Lastly Click Generate Javascript, and copy your javascript and post it on your website's backend and go!

I realize it's a little broadly explained, so if you have any questions feel free to comment here or PM me.

Hope everyone can find at least some sort of use for this short little tip and tutorial.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

It's not meant as the whole content. It's ideally made for supporting your content.
Javascript does have it's pit falls, but google and bing(yahoo) both have been working on being able to index javascript. Has yet to happen but it's a great way to support content.

Text under RSS feeds are copyrighted. You cannot use it for commercial purposes, if the owner of the RSS feed has not allowed that.

Plus I don't think Google will love these copy content websites. What's the purpose on them? And which users would like to use a website that just uses RSS feeds. They could just subscribe that RSS feed theirself. I agree that RSS feed in the sidebar could be nice, IF it's allowed to use it.

While your correct it may border illegal if you call it your own. But RSS feeds are made to let people import them and use them. By making an rss feed your giving the right to allow it to be used, your right someone could take an rss and subscribe to it if they wanted or they could have multiple feeds on their website and make life a whole lot faster and easier.

Not saying its the BEST thing to do but it is legal and it is fair... especially because it links back to the original owner... so it gives them a boost in traffic..

I used feed2js a few years now, Cut n' Paste JavaScript RSS Feed, I always do interesting things with it like displaying recent posts from categories or just associate a feed url within a page, such as this as an example from youtube. I use a feed discovery, finds each category, displays the feed and also provide the embed code.

http://get.blogdns.com/dynaindex/index.php?post=youtube_com&page=1 Do the Age verification.

This is my temp domain, if the link doesn't work use http://dynaindex.com

You mention "Automated", I made mine fully automated and doesn't need user input because my index generates and discovers urls, if you really want automated using feeds then feedwordpress is a better option, it'll auto-post feeds from sites and place them into categories, tags, find the authors, set the fetch times, so on. Wordpress feedwordpress plugin

While I'm at it, I might as well tell about http://simplepie.org/ , can display the main feed from any url or from the feed url itself. Is also a plugin for wordpress .

I messed around with feeds a long time now, right down to html, xml parsers, Dom in php. The above are the easiest and best solutions.

Thanks for a great thread.

One poster above talked about Copyright issues using RSS. I want to pull the RSS from a local news site onto my city resource site. It sounds like the law is not very clear cut. Does anyone have any more information on this?

Thanks for the script. But it's not an automated site and won't create our own inner pages.

Ok well nice to see a lot of you are using this post i created ages ago.
First and foremost, this was created before the concept of an "auto blog". I honestly believe Autoblogs are just spam machines...

This idea was never made to replace your own content, simply to support it.

saturda, it sounds like your really new to web development, you can enter the javascript where you'd like if you have say a sidebar where you'd normally write your text you can past the javascript there.

ViReal, as far as i can tell this is fair game... and never had a problem with it. As a matter of fact if you visit almost any radio station's website public or private you often see rss feeds showing the weather etc. RSS feeds are made for a reason, and at the end of the day it helps the content writer. If you'd like to be sure it's safe just email your local news and i am sure they can give you a solid answer.

studio500, thanks I appreciate it, like i said nice to see this is still being useful almost 3 years later.
