I'm excited about this news, although at the same time I'm somewhat disappointed too. Hopefully we see some good development out of these and not just 100 parked pages...but I have a feeling that many of these won't see development for quite some time...unless the dotMobi group heavily promotes these sales towards end users, perhaps? :?

If the keyword matches the domain who cares...did people complain before parking was invented?

Best efforts to create, launch and operate a live web site with relevant content within six months. (For example, acupuncture.mobi should not display a site for car sales.)

i think the rfp process just prooved to be too long and complicated when you're dealing with thousands of domains - it was the first time attempted by any registry and probably the last time.

Way to mix it up MTLD. They always said there would be VARIOUS ways that the "premium" names would make it into daylight.
It's great news to:
1. Celebrate the 1-year anniversary with a mini "landrush" (albeit a "Pool-like" landrush)
2. Get some of the "premium" names out of hiding
3. Generate buzz in the domaining industry AND in the public
4. Give those who missed (or dissed) the first .mobi introduction a chance to get on board
5. Ruffle some feathers and toss the budgies some millet to chew on
From a domain seller's perspective the only temporary downside I see is a potential lull in aftermarket sales due to the immediate increase of supply of good generic names on the market and very public promotion of those names. This may overshaddow others' offerings but the net is a BIG positive as it will bring more focus to the .mobi market in general.
BIG surprise that anything that MTLD does is s "disappointment" to some "less-than-optimistic" types.
A score of "4/5" could be garnered because of a graphic item or lengthy content that puts the page just over a small threshold for loading time. It can be fully functional .mobi site that meets all other coding requirements. No real worries there.
To the real world I would imagine that some .mobi critics who have been holding a small number of undeveloped .mobi names FOR OVER 6 MONTHS have little credibility when it comes to complaining about lack of a developed Shmecosystem or MTLD allowing name winners up to six moths to develop their sites.

I'm sure whoever ends up with these names is not going to be in a position to just drop their life and develop the new acquisition the next day or so. Nor the next week. It takes some time just to put together simple sites. I am quite confident that these new owners will prioritize their new mobi. I think 6 months is just about right...at least it should be enough to get something nice up and running. Maybe not outstanding...but nice.
Now "some" are asking...demanding...for new types of content, scoring 5/5 in an unreasonable time frame.
Hmm. Plop down $XX,XXX, drop everything else in your life and come up with a never before seen or done (or dare I say "unique") 5/5 mobi site in a moth or two. Someone needs to get a grip on reality. First off, putting together something other than a simple site scoring 5/5 is no easy task. If you get 4/5...that's pretty good in my book. The problem is, the more you go to flashy sites with any bells and whistles (including lot's of images)..the 5/5 is likely to be gone. Believe it or not...there's no shame to a 4/5 mobi site. They still display quite well.
Reece said:Well said Acc!I for one certainly think most of our names may fall in value temporarily as everyone competes for the "cream of the crop" -- for the most part, these 100 names! But with the added public spotlight it will no doubt bring to .mobi, I have no way of seeing this as anything but a great thing
