Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

Hey guys, is Atom still good? I am selling these premium domains in their no reserve auction section, but they are going terrible, and the reserves are all met. Is Dynadot now better to list auctions? Or is the timing bad? Economy? No idea, I know the winners will get huge bargains like this, what do do, cannot cancel the auctions anymore.
Nice Domains, you have 3 days left and multiple bids, all it takes is 2 that really want them. Posting here got more eyes on them already ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€

Auctions culminate in the end and with 3 days to go there is plenty of time to bid

Lots of pages here to check, not sure if someone has asked this......

Am I reading this right? You can bid your own atom registered domains at auction?

Doesn't this create a conflict of interest? Encourages shill bidding and can easily let people artificially increase the perceived value of a domain?

Or am I missing something?

5.4 Sellers Bidding on Atom-Registered Domains

For Atom.com-registered domains, the original sellers may bid on their own domain names if they wish to transfer domain ownership from Atom.com to themselves.

In the event that the seller wins the auction for their domain, they will still be eligible to receive a commission on the final sale price according to their commission eligibility.

@NickB That's only for "Atom.com-registered" domains.

5. Atom-Registered Domains โ€“ Terms & Conditions

Atom allows sellers to submit unregistered domain ideas. If approved, Atom covers the cost of registration and renewal, while you earn a commission on the sale (Typically 25% to 15% of the purchase price).

Submission & Ownership

  • Upon approval, 100 points will be deducted from your account for each Atom-registered domain.
  • Atom will register the domain and become the legal owner of record.
  • These domains are exclusive to Atom and cannot be listed on other platforms.

Renewal Policy

  • Each domain is registered for an initial period of one year.
  • Atom may choose to renew the domain at its discretion. If renewed:
    • Atom will continue to cover renewal costs.
    • Seller commission will be reduced to account for ongoing investment by Atom.

Domain Expiry, Wholesale or Auction

  • If Atom decides not to renew a domain:
    • It may be allowed to expire ("drop"), or
    • It may be entered into a Domain Auction
    • It may be added to the wholesale marketplace
  • In the event of an auction sale:
    • Ownership transfers to the winning bidder.
    • Youโ€™ll receive a commission based on the active commission rate and final sale price
  • In the event of an Wholesale sale:
    • Ownership transfers to the wholesale buyer
    • Youโ€™ll receive a commission based on the active commission rate and final sale price.

Thanks

That's not correct. Atom.com is an ICANNโ€‘accredited registrar (IANA number 4547). They're still in the early rollout phase, so they're relying on other registrars until their platform is ready for mass use.

My stats are very weird compared to you guys

I'm getting a lot of discovery views, but my direct lander visits have flatlined. The strange thing is, my direct visits looked pretty much the same as yours until Nov 1st. What's happening here?

The one constant is the rise in Platform discovery views , looks like between 60-80%. Obviously everyone can't be up this amount. Would have to dig deeper and see why certain domains are up and others not.

Maybe I am misunderstanding what direct lander visits means. I assumed it was from visitors typing in the URL directly, www.mydomain.com, but also from people actually clicking on your domain in the search results.

However, this can't be right because looking at these graphs, there doesn't seem to be much of a correlation between an increase in platform discovery views with an increase in lander visits. One would think that if the number of eyes on them increases by 60-80% then the number of people visiting the domains would also increase.

So if this is true, and platform discovery only shows the times your domain appears in the search results, and direct lander visits only shows people that directly type in your name, why isn't there a stat showing the number of people that see your domain in search and then go on to click it?

Or maybe I am confusing something here?

After ages of trying to convince the tech team that my stats werenโ€™t workingโ€”despite their insistence that my names just werenโ€™t getting viewsโ€”they finally fixed my accountโ€ฆ only for it to break again a few days later.

Hi everyone, since there were several questions about Discovery Views, Direct Lander visits, and stats in general, hereโ€™s a clearer breakdown that may help:

1. Discovery Views

Discovery Views reflect traffic influenced directly by Atomโ€™s search and recommendation engine. This includes:

โ€ข when your domain appears in search results
โ€ข when itโ€™s shown in AI-driven recommendations
โ€ข when itโ€™s displayed across other discovery surfaces on the platform

We only count impressions when the domain is actually in view for the buyer. If the name appears far down the results and the buyer never scrolls to that section, those impressions are typically not counted. Discovery Views also include landing page visits that occur after the user visits the landing page after clicking search results or recommendations.

2. Direct Lander Visits

Direct lander visits occur when someone types the domain directly into their browser and lands on the for-sale page. These visitors may or may not be genuine buyers. This category often includes:

โ€ข misdirected or legacy type-in traffic
โ€ข visits from users who knew the developed domain previously (before it expired)
โ€ข general curiosity or non-commercial browsing

There is usually no correlation between Direct Lander traffic and Discovery Views since these typically represent different visitor groups.

3. Automated or Non-Buyer Traffic

While we have strong systems in place to block bots and automated traffic, no platform can filter out 100%. Discovery Views as well as Direct lander visits may still include some of this activity, and we continually refine the filters to keep numbers as accurate as possible.

4. Repeat Lander Views

Repeat views represent cases where the same buyer returns to the landing page multiple times.

Previously, we counted rapid, back-to-back reloads as separate views. We recently added a time-gap threshold so we only count meaningful repeat visits. This is why many sellers noticed a reduction - the metric is now more accurate.

5. Occasional Gaps or Under-Reporting

Our top priority is delivering an extremely fast search and discovery experience for buyers. On days when the system experiences unusually high load, we may deprioritize certain analytics processes to keep the platform fast.

When that happens, some stats may be under-recorded, or certain views may not be captured perfectly. This is intentional - speed and buyer experience come first, and analytics accuracy is second.

6. Our Philosophy on Stats

Contrary to some comments, our goal is not to inflate view counts. Itโ€™s actually the opposite. We want these metrics to reflect real buyer behavior so they are genuinely useful and actionable.

That said, views alone rarely correlate with sales. More meaningful indicators include:

โ€ข repeat landing page visits
โ€ข number of buyers tracking a domainโ€™s price
โ€ข the keywords where your domain ranks highly in search

This last point is the reason we recently rolled out the Search Visibility dashboard that gives you clear, structured insights into which keywords are driving visibility for your domains across the Marketplace. Our goal is to surface data that helps you understand buyer intent rather than just raw traffic counts.

Hopefully this helps clarify things.
