Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

Gotta say, Domain Depression didn't hit me nearly so bad this year, in part thanks to @Unstoppable Domains.

I'm still pruning the bad names, but it's a whole lot less stressful knowing I can still keep a few or can afford a few mistakes with half price transfers.
How are you going with Unstoppable? Any issues? I did a few hand reg's there, but haven't been back since. Obviously the prices are extremely compelling, but I'm always a bit uncertain about using a new registrar (and particularly when they're not just a new registrar, but also on-chain, which could potentially bring some other idiosyncrasies (though I know they say you won't even know the difference)...

@Atom.com have you considered letting us list premium domains on Sedo at 10%+, like we can on Afternic and ICANN Registrar marketplaces?

Yes, please consider @Atom.com. When considering, please note for certain gTLDs (like .now) the loss of Sedo truly hurts since there is no Afternic cross-promotion as they do not accept .now for listing (yet).
So losing Sedo significantly diminishes marketing for sellers.

They're fine. Not spectacular (Dynadot) but not the lowest (Sav). More like Porkbun imho.

I've only been a member for a few months, but so far so good. It covers pretty much all of my main must-haves such as being on the FT network & Sedo MLS, bulk updates for larger portfolios, nameserver & dns record templates, decent domain filtering & sorting, etc.

The main issue I had was not being able to see what domains were successfully on the FT network, but in a recent update it now has its own table column on the main page which shows the status of each. Also you can pre-authorize FT for the names that are still in the 60-day lock.

I don't like having to wait 10 days to prefund my account via bank, but aside from this, no complaints at all so far.

This Trustpilot review is a bit worrying. I hope it is not a general problem for LTO transactions:

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that. So I guess it could be another extension and therefore not Atom's fault at all. Hopefully being a registrar will help managing LTO names better.
Yes. Even if it was indeed another extension and while stated in TOS, clear communication of these renewal details to the LTO buyer (and seller) is essential and won't hurt. It's just too important. I don't know if and how Atom is doing this already.

Bro's running a "B2B SaaS" and can't be bothered to check upon domain renewal status in advance. Sure there's Atom's fault, but seriously...

I guess the seller was one happy party in this transaction.

I sold an .ai on 2 year LTO on Atom and they instructed me to renew it for 2 years prior to transferring the domain to them, to cover the entire LTO period.

How long are Premium reviews taking now? My oldest one is currently at 3 weeks.

Most seem to be around 2-3 days for me. The odd occasional one takes 3-4 weeks, which I assume didn't pass the automated/quick human checks and gets sent for a more thorough manual review.

At atom wholesale when i filter domains with .now extension and select price sorted from low to high , It give results starting from 270 !! And that's NOT the minimum price available !!
if i select without sorting price i can see there is domains listed for wholesale below $270 !!!
I am i the only one seeing this !!!? I repeated the search 3 times and still showing wrong results !! Domains with prices below 270 doesn't appear !!!

@Atom kindly check and fix this please !

Hey everyone,
Quick question — is Atom.com approving more names than usual right now?

I just submitted around 40 domains and got 95% accepted extremely fast.
That’s way higher than my typical acceptance rate from 2020, so I’m wondering if others are seeing the same thing.

Has their review process loosened up recently, or did I just get lucky?

Curious to hear your experiences. Thanks!

Were they approved in a day or two at most? I can't speak to the quality of the domains you submitted, but if they're .com, taken in only 1 or 2 extensions, and have scores around 5, it's probably their AI approval. It has 'issues'.

I've been waiting 3 weeks for manual reviews. The domains are .ai, and I don't think their AI approval reviews those. Ironic, huh?

Yes, it seems like the AI review system doesn’t really work on .io, .ai, .me, .co and most non-.com extensions.
Around 90% of my .com submissions get reviewed quickly, but anything outside .com just sits there waiting to be reviewed.

Are they 'Potential fit: Premium' domains that you submitted?

Update: It looks like the tech team finally made some backend fixes to my account. For the first time in ages, the visitor map is showing again on my dashboard.

After they confidently and repeatedly told me that my names had no visitors for weeks, this is the first real acknowledgment that there was indeed a bug on my account.
