Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

For example, for a domain added to Atom yesterday, I have:
  • Lander Visits (Overall) = 5 visits
  • Direct Lander Visits (Last 7 days) = 0
  • Direct Lander Visits (Last 90 days) = 0
Has anyone figured out why these numbers are different?

Give it some time for the numbers to propagate and rollover to the 7/90 day levels.

Atom has a X number of days limit on the buyer paying for the domain after the price has been accepted, and once that time limit is over, the deal is dead.
Is this practice legal in the USA?

In Germany, offer and acceptance lead to the conclusion of a purchase agreement, the fulfillment of which is binding for both parties. In case of non-fulfillment, damages can be claimed.

Retraction:
Based on recent posts in this thread, it occurred to me that I had mistakenly assumed Atom stopped sharing data after they revamped how they measure stats and filter bots. In reality, it appears this is just a glitch with my account โ€” my stats havenโ€™t updated since the change, even though other analytics clearly show ongoing visitors. I reached out to support two days ago and was told Iโ€™ll need to wait until Monday for a response.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Same here. Stats are stagnant or missing day after day for quite some time. I dont look much at it anymore, however.

Additional stats have just been added in the Domain Stats tab for each domain:

I wish we could just download all of this data, for all of our domains. Checking each domain for dozens, hundreds, even thousands of domains would be an arduous task.

So, right now we can download our premium and standard names with "views" in that data. I would like to see the categories in this screenshot in that download OR at least give us the ability to select what data we'd like to download.

I was always under the impression acceptance of an offer was a legally binding contract here in the states. I mean, I could be wrong. If I am then I'd love to know why so I learn.

And yes, it would seem to promote the behavior of deadbeats and fake bidders, as in one month (October I believe) I had about 8 of these agreed-on transactions that timed out.

Odd, I have an offer pending since 2025-05-27 05:36:34 EDT for a domain where once I accepted the buyer went cold and its just sitting there, open. Is that the same as you're describing?

That transaction is not open, it's dead, but the negotiation window remains open for you to retrieve info, etc. Once a buyer and seller agree to price, and that price is not paid, that deal is DOA, dead, cooked, sayonara, call the morgue - and the only way that this buyer can purchase your domain is to reinitiate contact and make another offer.

When I had a big spate of "non-paying buyers" I inquired with Atom support and the full scoop on what's going on.

Probably for the best, as IMO, it's just a massive waste of time.

Concentrate on things that you can control, like the quality of your domain portfolio, evaluating new acquisitions, your pricing of current domain listings, etc. All the rest is just noise.

Tough attitude. Fulfillment of a deal by making payment is the most important step to me in a domain sale. And if Atom closes the book after three days, which I preset to accept the price during negotiations but not willingly as a payment timeline, then I am too little to understand the logic behind this. I mean, three days for a payment are not a long time, even for the most serious buyer.

in other words, deceased? Pushing up daisies, terminated, no longer of this earth, finito, six feet under?

Pretty well.

I totally agree with this, especially as after 3 days the transaction is dead and the payment link is inactive. Can't get any deader than that, so what's the harm in waiting a bit longer, like a week?

Lets get real here and scratch just a little bit below the surface. The gap in STRs between .com and .ai is actually shrinking "Look at the chart for October and November" gap is not growing as stated.

Atom has tens of thousands of extremely poor .coms listed that will never sell, .Ai's listed are of a much higher quality and better chance of been purchased (Quality of each tld listed matters)

Renewal cost of .com $9 , .Ai $70 , this matters.

The rise is STR for .ai in recent months may be due to a drop in the listed amount of .ai on atom. This drop due to the 5% commission rate on offer from Seller Hub. (No monthly quantity on each tld given so hard to judge).

This is one of a number of posts in recent times painting a rosy picture of .ai.

Thanks for the feedback. Just to clarify, there are two separate timelines in a negotiation:
  1. the window for accepting an offer, and
  2. the window for completing payment after both parties have agreed.
For the payment window, weโ€™ve intentionally kept it tight because it prevents deals from dragging on, gives buyers a clear deadline, and avoids situations where a buyer tries to pay weeks or even months later when the seller may no longer be willing to honor the original price. That structure has helped keep transactions clean and predictable for both sides.

That said, we also understand that in some situations a longer payment timeline makes sense. Based on the feedback weโ€™ve received, we will be making two changes:
  • The default payment-completion window will increase to 5 days.
  • Sellers will also be able to extend the payment window up to 30 days on individual deals (from their Offer Center) if they feel itโ€™s appropriate.

We appreciate the input .. it helps us keep improving the overall experience.

I like Atom and its focus on brandable domains that are often a bit different. What I don't understand, however, is the pointless stringing together of 3-4 letters in the Ultra Premium category. Shouldn't only domain names that actually make sense appear there?

Has anyone recently tried to add a BIN to an Atom auction after it ended? I added one and the system accepted it. But it doesn't show up on the auction page. I'm also guessing the bidders weren't notified. I contacted support about it.

Yep, happened to me when high bidder was $1500 and I set BIN for $2k. It showed on auction page for less than 24 hours. I contacted support and they've been looking into it for over 2 months. Sad.
