Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Watch
Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

Unstoppable Domains โ€” AI StorefrontUnstoppable Domains โ€” AI Storefront
I used atom WLM marketplace for my site brandboxd and I have a number of .com domains that have been approved for premium.

But I have decided to move away from it because:-
  • sometimes premium are approved quickly, other times you can be waiting months
  • unreliable appraisal tool (I bought an ai domain in part because of a valuation there - although that wasn't the main reason)
  • high commission rates
  • pretty average ai logo generator which usually makes your brand look worse
  • and worst of all - not a single one sold yet

YMMV

I intend to go smaller, custom made, bespoke website or Efty marketplace.

@Atom.com

Is there still a plan to include the Minimum Offer amount as an editable field at the domain level?

From the discussion on here I thought that was the end goal, and I really hope this "bulk editing tool" isn't the solution because I (and probably a lot of other Atom users) am/are still waiting for the original support request to be filled.

Thanks.

This could help my STR, great for other TLDs.

Exact-match SLDs now have their own top section, featuring Premium, Plus, and Standard listings.

I think this has massively improved the visibility of the now gtld , hopefully it's the trick to get sales flowing again.

I wonder how long this message remains visible in the dashboard? Months? Years?

"Recent Update: We have recently implemented an aggressive bot filtering algorithm to improve data quality. Views and Discovery data may not be fully accurate for the next few days as the system adjusts to the new filtering rules."

Atom seems to have removed all the bots from the "direct lander visits" and seems to (have added bots to) inflate the numbers on their "platform discovery views". I remain very sceptical about these statistics and the purpose they are serving, namely to make Atom look better than they actually are.

This is the Brand Bucket equivalent of platform discovery views. Not sure how it stacks up against Atoms.

It looks like the Strong Buyer Interest/Repeat Views section of the Dashboard is now a daily indicator, as all week these numbers have been reset and new domains are taking their place.

I'm really not sure why the data is even being displayed, as it resets every 24 hours.

Another thing that puzzles me is that I see people selling domains at their wholesale market for very cheap, while some of these names have more than 100 likes. You then start to question who is actually giving all these likes? Is it artificial? Some domains have hundreds of likes are are like $2000, and they have still not sold. It honestly puzzles me, and I have my own thoughts about it.

These are mainly other domainers and people who shortlist them for entering them into Atoms naming competitions. I think there were a lot more naming competitions before and obviously a lot less domains, so some of the original domains on SquadHelp now Atom got a lot of views and shortlists.

I have seen domains at their wholesale market priced at $7, and these domains have 100 to 300 likes. If all these likes are truly genuine, you wonder why the seller doesn't have a bit more patience and what the rationale is for selling so cheaply.

My Strong Buyer Interest stats have been reset on the dashboard:

Wonder if this is to remove all the previous bot traffic included in the data.

Hopefully this now means we'll see only genuine repeat visitors in this section, making it much more useful than it was.
My records are entirely erased with no new ones showing up in place, yet the map is consistently showing new repeat visitors.

if i am not mistaken logically it should be a correlation between strong buyer interest & landers above average time .
for some domains you see it under strong buyer interest BUT you don't see it under landers above average time !!
I mean if someone have strong interest in a domain, At least he/she must stay more than one minute staring at the domain landing page and wishing/dreaming of that domain and flirting with it !! Why we don't see same domains shared in both sections ( strong buyer interest & landers above average time ) !!!?

I think the Transfer Status system is broken. It showed as transferring the moment I sent the auth code (they didn't use it yet) then it switched back to "monitoring changes" once they actually initiated the transfer an hour later, and I approved the transfer the minute I got the email. It's been 2 days since I handed them the auth code, their website is already live and I have not received the payment.

Is this the norm? It happened again, they really need to fix this...

Once again, these likes are from other domainers. They are meaningless. I think I have hundreds of "liked" names in my list. I don't want to buy them, I just liked them for one reason or another and thought someday I'd go back to them.
Atom can't exactly parse out all logged in likes since some people buy and sell - but really, likes are not relevant. Now if a person goes to visit the name over and over (repeat visits) that is much more telling

They are updating their system. It will take some days for it to filter through.

Hey, everybody wants to get rid of the bots until they get rid of the bots, and then this forum is full of people complaining their views are down...

It's wild to me how much people focus on their "stats". All this time spent could be better used improving the quality of ones folio imho.

You could argue that you can only improve the quality of your portfolio, if you have the right data to draw the right conclusions and spot early trends.

The issue is that Atom has changed something and to me, the numbers are off. They said that "views and Discovery data may not be fully accurate for the next few days", but that is now already more than a week ago. Zero transparency. And clearly they also don't seem to bother to respond to this thread.

Mine reset but now the same three domains have the same repeat visit stats for the past 3 days. I used to have about 50 domains there, most of them were the same and the counts changed but not since Monday I think.

I donโ€™t see any point in showing wrong users stats with a note that they might be incorrect. It would be enough to display them once the process of adjusting to the new filtering rules is completed.

In my opinion, whatโ€™s happening with the stats in Atom is incomprehensible. โ€œRepeated viewsโ€ is the worst part for me. :xf.confused: My domains that appear in the new โ€œRepeat Views & Inquiriesโ€ view with repeated visits often donโ€™t have those visits listed in the domain details (which means Iโ€™ll lose this info after 7 days). And the same happens in the opposite way - my repeated visits to some domains often donโ€™t show up in โ€œRepeat Views & Inquiries,โ€ but they do appear in the domain details (I donโ€™t think these are bots, since the visit time for those domains increases). The dates of repeated domain visits have started disappearing from the details (it shows things like: Visitor1: 2 Visits () <--- empty brackets, missing dates). One of my domains that used to have over 100 repeated visits, today started showing only one repited visit ๐Ÿ˜ฃ The number of bugs in the app is terrifying - and the worst thing is that nothing seems to be done about them.๐Ÿ˜•

I don't see anyone complaining about that.

The comments about the constant resetting of the Dashboard's Strong Buyer Interest/Repeated Views section are just that, each day the list is being reset on my account - a few days ago, I had a 5 and a 2 leading the way. yesterday I had a few new entries with 3's and 4's while today the highest entry is a 2 and these domains were never on any prior day's lists.

It's pretty obvious these sections are being reset daily, which has absolutely nothing to do with bots or views because the long-term data is available on the individual domains.
