Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
GoDaddyGoDaddy
Seems the daily visitor stats are bugging again. Missed days and days with 1 visitor (average day is 80 - 100).

same, 1 visitor.

"Alert: Due to heavy traffic, we have temporarily limited the processing of analytics data. Therefore, visits and shortlists may not be accurate."

Heavy traffic in July can only mean heavy bot traffic. It's not hard really hard to get on top of this, they are on Cloudflare.

It doesn't appear to only be affecting user uploaded images either. The automatic image generation when you submit a premium domain is returning 404 images, and the AI image generator itself has stopped producing images.
FIXED.

Hello,
Thanks for patiently waiting. This is Aurey, and this is a follow-up to your concern. I've heard back from our team. Accordingly, this should now be fixed. Please feel free to reach us back if you need help with anything else.

@Atom.com

Looks like the custom phone number shows on the main page and on each domain of the white label which is good.
Custom email shows "mailto:0" and favicon reverts back to the Atom favicon when ya click on a domain.
Thanks for sharing. Our team has identified the issue, and it should be fixed within next 2-3 days .

I trade very short domains like 1-letter short or 2-letter short. Is this marketplace an interesting option for such assets?

I know some posted here some time ago about Escrow. It appears it also occurs for wires (again perhaps this has been extensively discussed). But apparently if someone buys via wire - Atom does not pull the name (or show it as sold). So during the time period of wire submission - and until funds are verified, another buyer can swoop in and pay via cc. While I can't imagine this happening too often, it recently did happen to Top.domains who tried to acquire a name via wire. Another seller swooped in with a cc and got the name instead - while TD was waiting for the name to clear. While the seller sold the name anyway (it only affected the wire buyer) this is not good business practice imho.

Imagine this happening to a corp buyer who thoroughly researched a name and chose it - only to see if taken from them because they paid via an accepted payment method on Atom. Trust would be lost. @Atom.com I think this policy needs to be changed (even though I understand as a seller I may not get the sale due to the wire not clearing, it's the right thing to do to give it a chance to clear).

I have also disabled Escrow due to this (since I know upthread someone mentioned Escrow takes even longer). I will push my buyers to cc (and/or wire) as I do not want them to become disappointed if Escrow doesn't occur.

Here is part of what the buyer had to say about buying domains on Atom. This should not happen Atom. Your policy must be changed asap before all buyer trust is lost.

Thanks for sharing this - we completely understand how frustrating the experience must have been.

At the moment, our policy is to keep domains available for sale until payment is actually received. This approach was adopted based on feedback from several sellers who were concerned about their domains being tied up due to incomplete or delayed payments, especially given the high number of false-positive wire transfer notifications we see.

That said, we recognize the need to improve the experience for legitimate buyers. We’re actively exploring better ways to strike that balance, including clearer communication during the payment process and the option to place a small upfront deposit to temporarily hold a domain. Our goal is to reduce friction for buyers while still protecting sellers from stalled or uncertain transactions

Hey guys, what would be the best way to create a landing page for a sub-set of our portfolio? For example, I've got a bunch of real estate names. I would love to have a dedicated "Real Estate Domains" page that displays all my real estate names -- with an easy way to buy them via Atom.

Does Atom have such a feature? If not, any suggestions on how to achieve something like this?

I know Atom has a White Label service but that's for ALL names, not just a sub-set of names (if I'm not mistaken). Are we able to have multiple white-label sites within the same account? That might (??) be a way to do this.

Thanks!

I would be interested in the reply from @Atom.com on this as well.

I asked Atom about this a year ago and they told me no - although one could theoretically sign up for a 2nd account. They said that wasn't technically allowed - but when I explained why, they said they would approve it (although I never followed through because their WLM had other limitations I couldn't work around).

I currently use Aftermarket.com to create my sub acct marketplace.

Bname looks really nice. Is that yours? If so - does Sudos offer logo gen or did you use some other tool? (which one)?

No, I wish. I'm trying out a hack using NP Landers as we speak where you use one sale page listing as a portfolio and list all of your landers links there.

newna.me if you want to check it out. I'm editing it so it's not done but you'll see the concept. Then I am going to have my primary portfolio page hyperlinked as my seller name on every single lander. Domain Listing Example

They have a lot of good features. Especially love the reveal price after giving email. I'm toying around with a lot of options. I also updated the post above to show the portfolio/listing page example

Hmmm. At this point I was planning on sticking with Atom... but I really like some of these features/options. Might have to give it a try.

Thanks. It would be SO much easier if it could be done from within our existing account.

Is it possible to REMOVE particular names from our existing White Label site?
