Anyway around domain lock?

I received a generous offer for one of my domains (first offer) that I had parked, however it's very new and has around 7 weeks or so left of the domain lock remaining on 1&1. The buyer tells me time is of the essence, is there any way around this, or do I have to wait the 7 weeks?

Also are there any domain sellers who don't have this precaution?
Thank you,

Have you tried emailing support and asking them if there is anything you or the buyer can do to expedite the process?

I had this the other day with Godaddy and to their credit they removed it after asking me to submit official govt id (drivers licence/passport etc). I submitted the info and docs they wanted, they then removed the lock.

Good luck.

ya....I feel the support team should help out...and I suppose that domain push in the same registrar inside the lock period is easier than a domain transfer out of the present registrar....but i feel the support team can sort it out!!!

When you see that the support team do not help much in helping you to 'push' the domain to the buyer, the only thing left to do is to take things onto your own hands, that is:

create a new account yourself with the buyer's details and 'push' the domain there. You will give all the details of the new account (ie. username and pass) to the buyer and it will be settled

I've done that in the past with a registrar that wasn't answering the buyer's help calls. The buyer was a russian that didn't speak english and the registrar tried to play it dumb.
Since the buyer needed the domains ASAP, all I did was to create a new account and move it there myself.

hope it helps

I hope it's not the appraisal scam. It's rather unusual to receive a generous offer on a freshly registered domain. But it's possible. It is a question of timing and circumstances.

If it's a fresh reg, and a gTLD, there is no real way around the lock. The buyer will have to create an account at the same registrar and accept an internal push.

If time is of the essence, couldn't you just set up the nameservers to point to where they want them so they control the zone, and then do the actual transfer when the lock is up?

i had same problem and i talked to the support in godaddy and they told me that
for new domains ownership in your account it will keep locked for 2 month (60 days) from Icann rules
and no one can change this block so you have to wait 7 weeks
but for my opinion i don't think it could take long time like that
anyways all my new domains blocked for transfer to another account and yes 60 days from register date
good luck
