I am just curious because it's a subject that doesn't seem to get discussed often. I have yet to see any remarks about "oh I am making $8 a day from my mobi". Yeah...I know it's early for mobi but their are tried and true ways to make income off a website.

Has their been ANY monetization off mobi sites?

I warned you about that one! It's 76 pages or something.
An absolute classic.

If the writer of this quip is selling books, I will buy! I will use that line. I will make the writer famous, he and Charlie can do book signings and then the talk show circuit ...oh, Oprah Babe, here we come!

Circa....are either of your sites making revenue? That's the subject of this thread.

Considering the mobile web (not just mobi) is in its infancy and mobi is even younger than just the mobile web, $20 a day is incredible.
i remember the early days of dot com and everyone was casting around trying to figure out how to make money

took them a few years to get it right

it will take mobi a few years as well

making money on mobi will require breaking beyond the boundaries of just pay-per-click or other established revenue models

i would say $5-600 a month now is fantastic when people who have portfolio's of 200 names are getting 250 hits a month in total

Seems staying on-topic is something that's difficult for some members here. The topic is really simple too. I see brags all day long about "oh look what I regged". How about a topic "oh look what I am earning" off a mobi? Is that really so difficult for mobi site owners to earn money?

So far we have vcool making about $12-$15 a day with what has to be one of the top mobi sites. We have thinking1 that says he makes a quarter to eighty cents per day combined on all his sites.

There has to be more to the income side of mobi that just these few. Doesn't anyone want to brag about their income here?

I'll take a stab at it. I'm making zilch, nada, zero but I'm having alot of fun regging names and developing :)

Yeah, I to think that it is important to see the real progress, not hype or wishful thinking. Nothing wrong with .mobi not making big ppc revenue at this stage, but it is nice to keep taking its pulse from time to time, without hype comments.

mkaing money by selling them to saps... that's about it... :)

Sometimes it's better to keep your mouth shut, and let people think you're ignorant - than open it, and prove them right....

.........

Labrocca, if this week is anything to go by (it may not be - it has been exceptional), I'll recoup my reg fees in under a year, purely from ppc - and I'm starting to get my head around developing - now I can see some traffic, I know what to develope first.

I've not bought any .mobis other than hand regs (100+) and other than parking them, I've done nothing - not even submitted them to SEs.

As the weeks roll by, I am getting happier and more comfortable with my small investment in .mobi, and am going to be growing that investment with the benefit of knowledge through stats.

I think something else we need to consider is, at the moment, for developed mobi's we do not have too many options to consider for ads and PPC. I think that as more companies come into the mobi arena, competition for the ad dollars will pick up.

I think AdMob is doing a decent job filling this niche at the moment. I love the idea that they allow us to select or delete the ads appearing. They just need a better user menu for this option.

Yes, I am making about $400+ with dir.mobi and I actually forgot to mention about eIndia.mobi. It is also making some $3-4/day ( $60-80/month) as well, it's not much but everything adds-up. In fact I spend very little amount of efforts for eIndia.mobi compared to dir.mobi.

Regards,

Vcool

I am using admob.com for ads on my site. Just open an account with them and use the php code they supply into your pages and that's about it. Please let me know if you have any questions about admob.

Thanks,

Vcool

I have inquired, but not signed up yet.

Signed up, but haven't placed the code yet.

For gaming, I have signed up and placed one ad on xxi.mobi. I haven't really done much with these guys either.

Yahoo is taking applications for their beta program.

I think there are others too. It is a matter of knowing where to look outside of NP and G :). Get on some other sites that deal with mobile applications and development. Remember to report back your reconnosaince!

Good luck mobivelopers!

I'm going to post this separately too. Maybe others can post their experience and add to in in a more positive light :p

Yeah, I'm ignorant. You got me, champ. Or perhaps I remember .ws very well.

I figured a terse or possibly wry one sentence response about the current state of developed .mobi sites (NOT VERY IMPRESSIVE. HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY ARGUE THAT...) is a more apt response than flowery nostradamus-esque prose about the future of .mobi, which no one could possibly have any slightest clue about. I was under the impression we were talking about now.

And let's all keep this in mind... just because YOU (Mr. John Q Domainer) own 100 .mobis and are desperately hoping for them to take off, it doesn't mean THAT THEY WILL.

Optimism doesn't translate to success.

Personaly developement and follow up marketing helps. Having dotMobi court global multiple industry shapers like Visa, Nokia, Google, Microsoft, etc. and having them on board helps even if it is only in money, even just namesake. I don't see .biz, .us, .org, .info actively pursuing Visa or other major vendors.

I can't say I have ever seen a major company make any kind of positive collaborative statement about another tld...ever. That is why there is an abundance of optimism. Excuse us for feeling freaky :alien:

:? I'm curious why you were moved to words. Do you own any mobis or are you so upset by the optimism you became concerned for your fellow NPr's and had to speak up.

:td: I am back to trying to understand the need for people to piss on the mobi investors.

.ws ?

who was running that registry like a business.... oh thats right, nobody.

sorry that you ran out and probably bought 10,000 .ws domains... but danielson, .mobi is no .ws

if you cant see that from aftermarket sales already, i just dunno what to say.

money is money and we are people selling words for money. so far its going ok, better than any new TLD in the past.. so get over your bitterness and buy a mobi.
