Here we go again..

Not only Flippa is hosting another auction that openly violates TM and therefore their own policy...they are even sending it out in their emails!

WELL DONE FLIPPA!!!!!!

https://flippa.com/3500921-dell-wiki

And I really like what they wrote in the low right corner :

" Does this auction violate the Flippa Terms and Conditions?

If so, anonymously report it here."

I mean...what is Flippa there for? Just to take listing fees and success fees?

As has been mentioned on other posts, we're soon discontinuing the appraisal credit/incentive.

We do not charge to list your portfolios in our Portfolio section, which will soon have some massive changes to it. I see you, @photonmymind, have uploaded quite a few, yourself...

We still charge to send a domain to auction, and that is something we will consider changing in the future, as we hone-in on improved curation methods. We're also actively seeking changes to our layout and slate of upgrades.

Please keep in mind that while you may find us a "joke," we're working hard to listen to your's and others' feedback, to continually make improvements, and will continue to do so.

i have to say you have been more than open to constructive critism not only as of late but in the past as well. Thank you.

Also i do agree tat the quality of domain names has definately gone down, this will eventually hurt the popularity of flippa as your marketplace becomes over run with pigeon shit domains. I personally would like to see free listings in a BARGAIN section for crappy names and paid listings for domains deemed acceptable by flippa staff. An approval process for listing domains similar to sedo's great domains auction. Also i think the upgrade fees are out of this world, would make more sense to have a full package upgrade for around $99 instead of >$300, this price is acceptable for website owners but many domainers cannot afford it and with an upgrade the liklihood of selling a domain on your platform for fair market value is slim.

Yeah, I'll just throw my note in that getting on them for missing a TM name here or there is a pretty shallow attempt to bash them.

I don't even know why this thread went on to three pages?

13 trademark listings on page #1 when searching for term "iPhone"

Go to Sedo, etc and do the same thing... then report the number of listing you see...
Well over a 100 listings for "IPHONE".

During the duration of this thread one of my flippa auctions ended and was paid profiting me another $800 in my account.

Maybe if the same time spent on this thread was applied to selling we would see some more results....

Well done.
You don't have to comment here though.
BTW If you re read my posts I have always said Flippa is a good place to sell some specific domains

C) people don't mind their own business

? You posted a thread in a public forum. If you don't want other people's opinions, it would seem best to not post in a public forum. IMHO, of course.

Never said that.
As you might have noticed that was a reply to someone who posted
" I don't even know why this thread went on to three pages? "
That comment certainly didn't deserve a different reply.

People is so simple : if you are not interested in the thread or you find it a waste of time or useless simply don't comment on it.
Smart ass comments will have smart ass replies.
Why did the thread go on for 3 pages? Mainly because people who weren't interested in the thread or didn't like it took the time to comment on it.

The whole reason I haven't used Flippa for anything is because of their business model.

The biggest prob I've seen with Flippa is quality. Quite a few changes are in the pipeline but still, everything is pending. When you have a shitty domain, you don't risk $9 to list it. No, you go to eBay or BIDO, to list it more-or-less free. That's why Flippa has quality--to an extent. Allowing ppl to list things on there for free is a terrible idea, and the users there like (ivy1.com) will take all advantage possible to get their shitty domains listed for free, thus quality takes a hit.

They are working on a few ideas (listing packs ie 5 listings for about $7 each is an idea they're kicking around). But Flippa, still, is no eBay, no BIDO. If you have a domain of a decent value, Flippa is the way to go. If your domain is a reg-fee monstrosity, BIDO is your best option. I've had good domains on Flippa that didn't sell, but I think they might not have been as good as I thought.

You've been persistent, and I have enjoyed working with you -- and now you have a barn-burner of an auction! Wishing you luck, and stay in touch regarding subsequent auctions...

Thanks for your patience; I was @Namescon.

As to the quality definitely going down, I have heartfelt disagreement: our sales the past two months have skyrocketed. While timing of the seasons (and tax-related reasons) is surely a possibility, I can assure you that our inventory has never been better, and seller engagement has never been higher.

Along with more sellers and more (and better!) inventory, however, comes an influx of less valuable domains -- some of which are fueled by the free credits. The changes discussed on other threads, Appraisal-credit-wise and otherwise, are still pending -- but will happen. I would respond and say so if they weren't going to. But we have a large pipeline of changes, and not just for domain-related shifts throughout the marketplace, please keep in mind.

The Free section vs Approved section is a nice idea. Our Catalog (soon to be Portfolio) section allows you to list for free, with the ability to push to auction for $9. We're starting a curation-based process by designating inventory as Exclusive (for high-end), Editors' Choice (for mid-to-high) and soon will have a separate section for brokered domains.

My main aim as Director of Domains is to improve the quality of the marketplace, increase sales, increase our seller and buyer activity, and ensure that all feedback and criticism is listened to and addressed. The balancing act between paid listings and free listings (with curation thrown into the mix) is a tough one.

As for upgrades, we're starting to experiment with alternative price points and processes.

Continue to chat with me in regards to specifics of any and all of the above, and as always, I appreciate being able to have this dialogue.

Halfway through the auction & it already has 70 bids. So far, I'm regretting Flippa none. And I will definitely be using it more

That's great to hear, did you happen to pay for any upgrades for listing?

Yeah, $350. Seems high, but I have 85+ watchers, 70 bids. I've advertised a few other places, too ie not all of this was from Flippa. Still, it's all good so far
