I just checked one of my sites, and the rank was around 500,000 couple of days ago it was up at 1,000,000, now it is at around 800,000. Is this right? :tri:

Yeah. What alexa does, is when someone using the alexa toolbar goes to your site, it logs that someone went to it, so depending whether someone with the toolbar visits your site or not changes your rank. You are ranked based on the number of people per million that visit your site.

Bottom line is: Your rank can be different every day.

Alexa rankings are not accurate AT ALL until you get within 100,000. Also, remember your rating is a THREE MONTH AVERAGE. So it will go up almost constantly for the first three months of a site's existence, then stay pretty steady after that.

Also, Kodeking, Alexa factors in Google search results somehow, along with some ultra-complicated formula which supposedly figures out how many people surf the web every day.

Wow, seems very complicated, how would they manage that?
