Afternic says that the standard network accounts for 30 million searches a month, and premium network 85 million searches a month.

But anecdotal evidences indicate that the sales from Partner registrars account for less than 20% of the total sales from registrars - excluding sales originating from domain landing page. (If anyone has better data on this, please share).

Is there a merit in moving domains from non-fast transfer registrars like Namebright etc after 2 months lock. So you get 8 months of premium network listing in the first 12 months of a domain (though we incur a transfer cost per domain initially, bad for cash flows).

Or retain the name in the original registrar until the end of 12 months (better from cash flow perspective), but we have 12 months of only standard listing.

Would love to hear your experiences.

ps. there is merit to move away from namebright period. no matter network type. it is a very 2nd rate registrar..ie u are among few who make it their primary choice. make that very few.

u may also want to consider that dan offers afternic standard net too.

Names into the FT network get also extra exposure on GD search path compared to standard listings. Haven't done any A/B test, but contrary to what most domainers do I held my names at the cheapest registrar regardless of the FT network eligibility.

for larger folio it's hard to set bins for all names then remove them if names not renewed etc... unless u set same bin for all maybe bit higher. do u need to set bins to be on standard net?

I think OP is not talking about pricing

I don't use Namebright by choice, but names caught on Dropcatch go there.

Yeah, as per Afternic the standard network gets 30 million searches, and premium gets 85 million. But if you've been following the sales reported by Abdul Basit (https://www.abdulbasit.com/domaining/afternic-experience-of-june-2024)

He says out of 14 sales, only 2 came from the partner registrar & 12 from Godaddy. You'll see similar figures from past months. I don't have a similar breakup for my sales from GD, would be glad to see if anyone else has it.

Effectively the 250% extra searches on premium network are accounting for only 10-15% sales ?
