Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Had an inquiry a couple of days ago. Are these new detailed descriptions? I'm used to seeing "email sent to buyer" or "email received from buyer" - are the messages some sort of Chat interface (instead of email)?

The broker sent a message
The buyer sent a message

Here is an explanation from a broker:

“The broker sent a message" is me directly reaching out to the buyer through their GoDaddy account where the offer was submitted. “email sent to buyer” is me sending them an email. I alternate between the two incase they are not seeing one or the other. If they had a phone number, I would call as well but they did not provide one.

This was the case with an offer received from Custom Lander.

Do these Afternic brokers ever close a sale? I wonder what they are saying in the emails.

Do these Afternic brokers ever close a sale? I wonder what they are saying in the emails.

Every month they pick up some domains from our portfolio and send the copy paste emails that endup stalled to create a show infornt of afternic head of sales department, ''That we are doing our job with evidences'' .
So when sales manager evaluating this brokers het get image that our boys are good and doing their best .
This scenarios not happing only in afternic, its a common practice/games played by some companies staff to survive at work and not lose job .

Anyone notice that Godaddy has removed the LTO option in the reg path from most/all names that have a premium renewal, even if the renewal is low.

Given the importance of this issue, I'll take the liberty of repeating repeating myself over here in this thread, in the hope that @GoDaddy and @Afternic might take notice: 🙏
Has anyone here used a custom Afternic 'checkout link' for a .si name?
Good question @URL Stream, thanks for bringing up this important topic.

Folks, it's good that I have this anxiety to always check the custom link before sending it out.

When I tried it now, this came up:

After speaking with customer service, it seems that while Afternic supports .si, GoDaddy doesn't.

If that's the case, Afternic should never allow a checkout link to be created in the first place, only for the transaction to blow up in the buyer's face.

Tagging @Afternic and @GoDaddy for clarification ASAP.

Edit: Copy of AN support email:

Hello,

Thank you for calling Afternic today.

As mentioned during our conversation, we discussed that you were having issues generating* a custom checkout link for _____. As mentioned, Custom Checkout Links go through GoDaddy and .si domains are not currently supported at GoDaddy. I'll need to escalate this to confirm if a custom checkout link can be used to purchase ______. Our team will let you know as soon as we have further updates regarding this.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Kind regards,
Lyubov

Over the past few days, two of my domains reached "On Hold" status, but neither ended up converting into a final sale. Usually, once a domain hits "On Hold," the conversion rate is near 100%, so having two fall through in such a short window feels unusual.

Are any of you noticing similar issues or uncompleted transactions in your accounts lately? Curious if this is just a statistical anomaly on my end or if there might be an platform issue going on.

I have additional anger with third-party actions. Listings on Afternic and Dynadot marketplaces which are not mine. (The domains are mine but not the sale listings.)
Sedo no such problems.

My domains have been stuck in the listing resolution center for a month now. I’ve reached out to support twice, and this is all I got, with no real resolution. Does anyone have the same problem, and how did you fix it?

Update: They finally fixed it.

I bad a similar problem but just with one name. It was showing as an Ownership Conflict for about a month. I had the verification namerserver set and the name was registered to my company at GoDaddy. When I ran ownership verification, it verified but said that it still needed to sync. If I searched for the name at GoDaddy, I'd get the message that I already owned the name.

I contacted support, Partner Seller support, and my rep. "It was escalated." After about a month, I got sick of looking at the name in the Listing Resolution Center and deleted it. Now it's just listed at Sedo.

I'm also finding that it's prudent to regularly check the Listing Resolution Center. Names will be fine and then appear there seemingly randomly. If you don't check, you will rightly expect those names to be active. Names will move from listed to not without other notice.

I just sold a domain on Afternic and instead of being asked for a Transfer Code, I get this email:

"This transaction requires a "Change of Registrant" form to be filled and signed by you. A Transaction Assurance Agent will reach out to walk you through this in the next 2 business days."

Has anyone had this happen to them, and why would a "Change of Registrant" form be required for such a simple, low-dollar transaction that I've completed lots of times at Afternic using a transfer code?

P.S. No the domain is not under a 60-day lock and no it is not registered at GD or its subsidiaries. It's exactly the same scenario as a domain I sold yesterday through Afternic (and for more money) so I can only surmise the buyer is specifically asking for this form.

I have sold lots of similar domains with Afternic and GoDaddy, including one just yesterday, so I am assuming that it's either:

1) A mistake and some GD goon got mixed up and flagged the TLD as requiring a Change of Registrant form.
2) The buyer has requested this form for some otherworldly weird reason.

Either way, I'm far from starving so I won't be filling out any stupid form, especially as these usually require signatures and photo ID. This transfer format also brings with it some questions regarding ownership and taxation which I will not get into here, but those issues make it a total non-starter for me.

The main reason I sell through Afternic et al and pay a commission fee is because it's EASY, and if it suddenly becomes difficult, then I'm gone.

It's kinda sad because I had a nice week and woke up this morning thinking that I made a few sales and could just coast into the weekend in a good mood. Then Afternic rolled in Friday morning with this BS and stomped on my good mood. >:(:xf.sick:

It's not a .com.au is it? They require a CoR. 99% of registrars do it online, but we all know what AN is like, so I wouldn't put it past them wanting you to sign a form.

Has anyone had better luck with Afternic self-brokerage than their own brokers? Since importing to Afternic landers a few months ago every single lead shows as stalled, which I understand is pretty common for Afternic/GoDaddy's brokers. Is paying for DDC worth it for the ability to self-broker? Is it even possible to self-broker on BIN landers?

Is paying for DDC worth it for the ability to self-broker?

I'm beginning to wonder the same thing. It's not going to do anything to stop the "Stalls" (as these are hobos and deadbeats) but I do worry more about how incredibly long the AF brokers take to do anything.

Then again, I've always wondered if the Afternic self-brokerage actually works automatically in real-time, and isn't just some kind of Rube Goldberg machine with the brokers all hiding inside, still doing all the work manually. Now that would be pure GoDaddy.

Has anyone experienced sending a counter offer to a buyer using Afternic self-brokerage and have it be accepted (or countered) almost immediately? Or are you always waiting for a response?

@GoDaddy Several marketplaces are currently working on inclusion of multiple domains in a single custom checkout transaction. Is this possible already, or on the radar, at Afternic?
