Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

November sales have been poor. Not sure if Afternic issues have a big role, considering I'm using BIN lander.

Im considering using something like Sudos for landers, so buyers have multiple options - GoDaddy, Sedo, Atom etc to buy. Downside is a 25% commission on Afternic.

Has anyone explored on these lines ?
I've had zero luck with Atom. Listed 300 names there. Now, for new names, I list on Afternic. Then, after a day I list on Spaceship and point their name servers to my domain. That way I get a little exposure on GD. If they find my name on spaceship, but want to buy on GD/AN they have that option too.

Godaddy and Afernic are like old worn-out cars that jingle on the road and are about to fall apart

A few weeks ago I decided to relist my .com domains on Afternic, because I wanted to run an LTO experiment on the most customer-trusted platform (LTO enabled in all price buckets, even sub-$1k because of the current economic climate). Nameservers pointed to Afternic, Custom landers selected (and the selection confirmed by reviewing the Sale Lander column).

One small sale since then, $988 /3mo LTO. However, I know from experience that Afternic requires constant babysitting. Today I randomly checked about 20 landing pages, half of them showed the BIN lander (after slow loading), some switched to Custom after refresh. Tested different browsers, different networks. @GoDaddy, you are ruining my experiment.😠

You can get 4-5 LTOs and still get less money annually than 1 good sale. I'm not a big fan of LTO given the average 1% STR even for domainers with great portfolios.

Looks like another case of rendering a wrong landing page.

I'm seriously considering moving to Sudos or Self Hosted landing pages with links to Godaddy, Sedo & Spaceship checkout options. Might pay 25% commission, but I think that's better than a genuine buyer unable to buy. Current setup for me is a single point of failure, that perhaps has a high probability of failing.

Buyers sometimes call the phone number on BIN lander, Godaddy broker follows up and so a lead is created.

In such cases the initial status is usually "Engagement occurred".

Are there plans to accept the .living extension at Afternic. The TLD is promoted at GD with a very competitive price compared to other registrars, but I discover you can't list at Afternic.

Thank you,
Bob

What's your top five Afternic frustrations right now? Mine: commission penalty for not using GoDaddy network nameservers, the 20s add-to-cart delay, the many repeated logouts during the day, CSV imports that don't flag ADD failures, and so many small bugs that take ages to fix. I really want to give Afternic landers another try, but I'm not ready for it yet.

and number one problem that beats all yours by so much is..

I dont use xsv
and click add names 50 at a time

when u do it and there are dupes then u are stuck. and they don't remove old ones or let u remove u have to do manually

before it worked and deleted automatically

I beg u fix it @Afternic

Yes this is extremely annoying. Recently I added 20 names with csv upload, yesterday I discovered by chance that some of the names were not listed because they needed verification. No warnings, and there is even report excel file (you get after uploading complete) that mentioned nothing about verification errors.

In addition to that one domain stuck in verification for 24 hours (it maybe still stuck I didn't check) although I have added the correct TXT record.

There are many other bugs here and there, one odd bug is the inability to add domains to cart after winning them in Godaddy auction, which in one case lasted for me for several hours and I had contact support who added the domains to my cart manually from their side.

@GoDaddy @Afternic your platform needs major overhaul. It is like an old rusty car with a smoky engine that rarely gets serviced.

but I meant for add 50 name max box

months ago when I put names and it found doubles I just clicked verify lter button and it removed all double.. and I could just add new ones..

then it stopped working and doubles are there forever and I cant click submit

i have to manually remove and add again

obviously ita bug

I have phone and editing csv files is even longer lol plus I had issues uploading when tried once.. so gave up

but I like add 50 box.
just needs fix

most names are there but sometimes I refresh.

afternic full of bugs

at least they fixed focking review names with self resubmit

even tho it took lightyears

All GoDaddy GoValue (DeValue) appraisals were last updated in April 2023.

If it was 2 days earlier I would have said it was an April fools joke.

in payee settings if "hold my payments" is chosen, is there a time limit that afternic will hold my payments?
Hi @cabotower,
This comes down to the threshold you set. In your payment settings, you can choose the level you prefer. Once that’s selected, we’ll hold payouts until that amount is reached (there's no specific time limit we're aware of).

We’ll put in a request for that, Bob. When an extension is already live at GoDaddy, it definitely helps streamline the integration. We’ll get that conversation going on our side.

We’ll DM you about this, @alcy. We’d like to get a bit more detail from you before we escalate it.

The battle against GD's automated appraisal continues

GoDaddy DeValue™, I like it (the term, not the concept)
As we said in another thread, the feedback on GoValue is hugely important for us as domain investor representatives to help inform our conversations within GoDaddy as we advocate for updates.

How about only showing the GoValue amount if it helps make a sale, i.e. if it's above the asking price.

I'm not sure if the following has been mentioned before about the aftermarket tab on GoDaddy:

I don't think most regular folks will know what an aftermarket is. It could probably use a better, more engaging title like Premium Picks, Our Picks, Top Picks, etc.

It might also perform slightly better if it was next to Results rather than at the end. Tbh I think it would be even better to redesign the UI slightly, and just have these two tabs all alone with no other options. Maybe with the other tabs moved somewhere else on a different UI widget. That way the two main drivers of sales are the most prominent, with less noise & keeping sellers happy.
