Thanks for confirming from a country I did not try, and confirming that even with nameservers pointed, they still don't show.

Germany does not display the .com when searched for the word only. It displays other premium .coms that are similar, probably from namefind portfolio.

The downturn in the last months makes a lot more sense now.

@GoDaddy has entered their death spiral. Good.

Hi guys,

I have an interesting situation with Afternic .


Some prick have listed one of my domains with the Afternic and set a joke price.
I received an email about this listing from the Godaddy with two links.

First one is a text - "Authorize your participation in Afternic."

Second one is on a button - "Authorize Now"

It looks the Godaddy has formatted this email that way intentionally to increase a possibility of accidental click.

So when I tried to copy a text - "Authorize your participation in Afternic" I clicked it accidentally. I've closed opened web browser right away.

I wanted to copy the text to paste it in a chat with Afternic support.

So as a result my domain was listed.


I asked Afternic support to remove this listing because it wasn't me who listed it.

An answer was - "You need to register with Afternic and pass through some verification process to remove it..."

They were forcing me to register with them. I declined it because I don't need it and I have already had an extremely bad experience with them..So they declined to remove it.

Finally I found login/pass for my old account with the Afternic and tried to add my domain to my account using TXT record but I was unable to do it because of some issue with system update or sync update and I need to wait up to 48 hours.

The main reason I worried about is Fast-Transfer. Previously I had an issue with this option exactly ...

What if Fast-Transfer is enabled ? What if the domain name was listed intentionally to steal it paying few coins ?

I spent 5 hours on Sunday before the issue was solved instead of spending my time with my family.

The Afternic support said - we cannot verify an ownership while somebody adds a domain name to the Afternic because of a huge quantity of requests. But if you need to remove a domain name from the system you need to be registered with the Afternic and pass a domain verification by adding a special TXT record in DNS settings...

This is hell.
To remove my domain which was listed by somebody else I have to have an account with them and verify the ownership of my domain that was listed by some prick without verification.

I don't want to have anything related to the Afternic - "I don't want to touch this even with a 16-meter pole."


What do you think ?

More Afternic stalled leads, 4 in a row.. I'm just wondering how genuine they are. If you are a genuine buyer, you will probably reply to the first / second mail that you are not interested or make an offer. However, 90% it's radio silence and leads become stalled after 3-4 mails. Some of those leads could be domainers mystery shopping Afternic or they don't respond waiting for a discount or something. If we could have more insights. Seems a bit weird.
Have you had success with stalled leads that led to sales after months? Me, only once. STR of stalled leads must be 0.2% something..

Absolutely - it can be frustrating to see stalled leads. Stalled leads typically come from our post-qualification process on Request Price landers, where there are no pre-qualification barriers by design (more information).

However, stalled leads often re-engage and convert over time. Our blog recently shared that more than a third of 2024 sales came from leads that were already over a month old.

Is there a set of criteria for which names appear anywhere in the Afternic/GD search results list?

I have recently investigated a number of names that are listed with prices at Afternic and active on the Fast Transfer network. I had assumed that if I owned Example.com and someone enters Example in the search that the Afternic listing for the .com would appear, if not first, at least somewhere in the list, but it seems not. The names are completely invisible to search.

I am not using Boost or Afternic nameservers. Is that a requirement to be listed anywhere in the search results? If so, the policy should be clearly stated.

UPDATE: I have not checked from a number of regions. If I set that I am a US customer, my .com name does appear, and at the top, of the presented results. From Canada and a number of European countries I have tried, it does not appear anywhere in list.

PS Yes, the names do show if entered in entirety with extension i.e. Example.com or Example.io, but in my opinion that is not search.

PPS I am pretty sure it has not always been this way. If others have unboosted accounts and not using Afternic nameservers could you please check a few names to see if yours are also invisible and report here.

PPPS My search is from Canada. I am wondering if the results vary with country, since the promoted box is for .ca at the top of each search. When I search a term that I have the .ca listed for sale at Afternic, it does appear in the search, at least for names that I have tried.

Now i see domains listed and pointed to afternic nameserver are getting indexed at google results !!
I bet this is a very new changes !! Seems afternic waking up and trying to correct their mistakes !
Below domains with price request landers, But I dont know how it looks the bin lander when indexed at google search results !
Guys check if you notice the same and confirm if you dont mind .

Yes - based on community feedback, we’re actively working on enabling domain reindexing. Given the scale of Afternic and the volume of domains using our landers, this process takes time - but the work is well underway.

I really, really despise these "Friday Night" Afternic offers - you respond quickly and then realize that no broker is going to read it for almost 3 whole days.

Maybe I should ask me mum for a farthing or half-penny to buy some sweets! Then later down to the Nickelodeon for a moving picture.

At least that way, me and Afternic will exist in the same time period.

same here and just renewed DDC in September. On the top of that I am unable to access to Godaddy, receiving error in the 2step verification.

Just a normal Monday I guess...

I can access Afternic and see some new fonts and green color.

After 2 hours, I am finally able to access my domains for the moment. I saw the color change but it is coming and going. Meaning it is there one minute and gone the next. That bright green isn't necessary. It is distracting.

Afternic's issues are almost definitely related to the widespread AWS outage. I'm assuming that any weirdness I see today is part of a larger global issue.
