Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Hi @Kokoro,
Thanks for your feedback! To evenly distribute the workload, this isn't something we currently plan to offer.
From the system point of view I completely understand the need to evenly distribute the leads among the brokers,

but

1. Having a dedicated broker who knows the seller including portfolio & domaining strategy and even the mother language will likely result in more sales (not a rule but IMO likely in terms of statistics).
2. I don't think the distribution would be affected significantly unless some brokers would dominate the system with their effectiveness & dedication. Not an issue if that resulted in more sales.
3. Having a possibility to choose a broker would be optional (something like in the old DomainNameSales panel if I remember correctly) and the remaining leads would be still distributed evenly.

However, do you have an account rep?
I'm not aware if I have any rep.

I can't update any domain details on afternic. It says "Something went wrong, please try again", and it asks me to login saying my session expired. Anyone know what to do ?

I tried on my phone and different network and incognito. Same thing. So it's not a cache problem.

Can you finally add the phone number back to custom landers? There's nothing to test.

I have a question about Afternic. If I am selling a domain on Afternic and they say 'the buyer is willing to pay $50k as their final offer'. Once I accept that I will sell it for $50k can godaddy then go to the buyer and try to sell it for more than $50k? Can they try to get $75k and then pocket the extra $25k plus the commission on the $50k?

If they can is one thing.

But, I would be shocked if they were doing that.

If they are trying to arbitrage in some deceptive manner, that type of double dealing would likely be exposed in short order.

@GoDaddy any news on the camel case issue? All names that had bulk price updates yesterday via web interface lost their camel casing. About 300 names in my case.

It doesn't look like any renewal fee was added to the order, and I was delivered domains that expire on 7/8/2025 and 4/24/2025 (today).

How is that even possible? Doesn't Afternic/GD renew it for +1 year upon purchase?

I know they used to, as I bought a domain through Afternic years ago.

Good question.

No renewals were added, and the domains were just moved to my account with existing expiration dates.

Finally, I found how to fix this issue.

Whenever I get that error, I need to go to the security page: sso.afternic.com/security

it will automatically asks me for my 2fa code, then I can return to my domains and edit them however I want.

All my names are now getting Phishing alerts, I'm using ESET

I tried different browsers - getting that alert with all of them

I tried other people's domains parked there - getting that alert with all of them

I tried my developed websites - no issues

I tried some names parked at Bodis - no issues

I hit the ESET report page and told them Afternic pages are falsely getting that alert.

Please feel free to DM us your Afternic username, and we'll have our team review your eligibility for an Afternic rep.

Hi @Blueleaf66,
As we've mentioned before, adding the phone number to the Custom Lander was an experiment, and it ultimately didn't increase conversion rates for our sellers.

Our goal is always to help you sell the most domain names possible, so we're exploring other iterations for including a phone number on the Custom Lander.

Hi @fogfever,
No :)

I sent a DM to the @GoDaddy account with more details.

One domain was purchased for $499.
One was purchased for $299.

It doesn't look like any renewal fee was added to the order, and I was delivered domains that expire on 7/8/2025 and 4/24/2025 (today).

They arrived with auto-renew off as well.

Hi @bmugford,
We received your DM, and will follow up there soon.

Hi @Kyle Tully,
Our team identified the issue and has resolved it - thank you for sharing. We're currently reviewing any affected names.

Why can't you just leave the number? It surely does not do any harm, if anything the lander looks more professional. If you don't want to for some weird reason, at least offer a chat support. This does not make much sense..

Some might argue GoDaddy's actions suggest otherwise. If this were the case Afternic would just be a bad memory and we'd all be piling our domains onto a GD branded Dan.

@GoDaddy consider having the number didn't lift STR not because the number itself harms conversions - but that the untrained reps who answer the phone are incapable of selling the names properly. I don't mean this to be mean or rude. I'm simply saying that there are 2 factors in play. One is the mere fact of listing a #. But that in itself isn't enough to lift conversions for a buyer who needed the #. The other is the level of expertise on the other end of the phone. I know some large sellers claim you have a few worthy brokers... but many could use retraining. For a true test - test 2 numbers. One that goes to your best reps and one that goes to the others. And then see if it lifts STR. If it does - then you know where the problem lies (and the good news is - it can be fixed)

So, are you saying that having the number decreased conversions? Otherwise you would surely leave it there, wouldn't you? Or did your brokers not like the extra phone calls?...
