Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

We've just released January's keyword chart! This list highlights the top monthly keywords in domains sold at Afternic.

For January, the leading keywords were:

  • AI
  • My
  • Bet

In the unfiltered list, which includes all "filler" keywords, "the" maintains its lead, followed by "a" and "i".

"AI" and "My" follow on.

We'll be releasing February's keyword chart next week!

I have often wondered, in these keyword charts, does the "keyword" 'ai' reference any usage of that letter combination (e.g. in brain, main or pain), or do you use smarts to pull out actual keyword usage (so it would count 'aihub' or 'yourai' as utilising the 'ai' keyword, but would not count the usage in 'brain'?? And the same goes for other words/letter combinations such as 'it'...
Thanks

I have to cautiously take my Afternic/GoDaddy skepticism down a notch. I received a "funds are on the way" notice 13 minutes after receiving the sold notice. In the interim, I provided the auth code.

Hi @NicTraders,
Great question. We use specific filters to help identify keywords in domain sales each month, ensuring the results represent buyer activity. Our filters wouldn't separate "ai" from "brain."

It's great to hear that the new TA system is working well for you, Garet! :xf.love:

Hasn't been fixed yet. I added a 'Leads' column so that 'Views' isn't the rightmost.
Hi @Jannes (and @Future Sensors),
We'll connect with the Afternic product team to reconvene on this one, thank you.

Afternic has no support for customer, i mean there is no toll free number or live chat support where, i can talk to their customer service.

I need to list a domain for "Lease to own" on it, which is on namecheap, but it ain't listing it, i've updated afternic nameserver to namecheap but still it's not available on godaddy 'lto'.

Help me please

Hi @NicTraders,
Great question. We use specific filters to help identify keywords in domain sales each month, ensuring the results represent buyer activity. Our filters wouldn't separate "ai" from "brain."

How can you say you use filters to identify keywords that represent buying activity but still show “brain” in “ai” related data?

To me that says your filter is no more advanced than “SELECT * FROM sales WHERE domain LIKE ‘%ai%’”.

It’s trivial to run this data against specific word lists to get useful information.

Introducing a new domain sales closing experience at Afternic! Rebuilt from the ground up, our new Transaction Assurance (TA) system brings increased automation and improved processes, all within a new UI.
It works fine.

Yeah, the response was a little open to interpretation. I understood this to mean that 'ai' would appear in the list only where their filters have identified it as a standalone keyword (and would not list it when it appears as part of a longer word), but equally the response could mean that a domain sold with the word 'brain' in it will appear in the total of listings for keyword 'ai'. It would be handy if GD would clarify this.

Can we get a nudge feature in the Lead Center?

I sent a question using the Lead thread to the assigned broker on 3/31/2025. I got a reply on 4/7/2025. At least this time I got a reply -- other times I never receive a reply at all. That's pretty bad...

I am posting this just to show how fast one can negotiate with Self Brokering compared to Brokered.
Negotiations started on Monday afternoon and Agreement Reached by Wednesday afternoon.

Of course your mileage may vary when negotiating :xf.wink:

I got an offer for a domain on afternic
Well, the offer is higher than the BIN.
It’s clearly a mistake or the buyer is playing around.
I’m still waiting for the broker to make a call and find out.
By the way , i didn’t knew afternic allowed offers higher than BIN

Good deal, congrats.

I just tested one of mine with a $100 offer. Worked pretty well. Got an email about the offer within one minute. Not sure why they have the survey and questions before an offer can be sent? I canceled my offer, and it showed instantly. I will change more to self-brokering. Wish the commission was lower for SB. Thanks for the information on your negotiation.

Did you set a minimum or Bin before negotiation started at $5k?
