Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Wow. This is insane. I read this too https://drawne.com/godaddy-afternic-scam/ - hard to figure out how to mitigate this stuff other than keeping all your names fs on Afternic (so no one else can list them w/o a txt verification). Even list your names that are not for sale as MO - just so no one else can list them
I've listed ALL of my names on AN -- and the ones I don't have for sale I use the "Hidden" toggle (which might have the same results as the "Unlist"?). It's sad I have to do this, but there were a few times someone tried to list my names on AN. Since then, I had to list all of mine just to stop the fraudulent listings.

The key reason is balancing accessibility with control. For self-brokered listings, requiring a login ensures that sellers engage with serious buyers directly, helping streamline negotiations and reduce spam. However, for non-self-brokered listings, keeping the inquiry process open lowers friction and encourages more leads, allowing Afternic’s brokerage team to qualify and convert buyers on the seller’s behalf.

Thank you for protecting us from an open inquiry process, lower friction, and more leads. We could not handle this. Let's leave it to the professional stalled and confused brokers.

"Never use fast transfer. I can't pinpoint the exact episode, but I remember Andrew Rosener from Sherpa discussing an instance where GoDaddy gave a domain away, and then they wouldn't even help retrieve it."
That is super rare. There's always a trail and they can get them back, if it's true fraud. Unlike some crypto fraud, where it's nearly impossible.

If anyone knows that person who had his domain stolen, please ask him to check all of his domain names. I'm not sure when the NS3 verification nameserver was added, but it appears that it currently has the NS3 verification record and is pointing to Afternic nameservers.

Does the Domain Ownership Authorization system at Afternic still work?

I just loaded some domains in and been sitting here 10-15 minutes waiting for it to complete. It kinda feels like the house is crumbling down, as everything's a little wonky.

Probably this:

Lease To Own is temporarily unavailable through Custom Checkout Link as we integrate it with our GD Cart. It will be back soon.

It's been that way for a week or more (tried to create an LTO for another name at least 7 days ago).

Thanks. I didn't find any prior communication concerning planned maintenance of this feature, so it's understandable that this is frustrating.

I think the LTO temporarily unavailable message has been there since they announced the GD Checkout link was moved to GD URL's about 3 months ago.

Paul Nicks, VP of Domain Investors at GoDaddy, confirms on DomainSherpa that they were tasked with experimenting, especially with AI and search.

We are guinea pigs for the GD staff to get applauses from the board.

I'm now experimenting with my attitude to Afternic, so

I ❤️ Afternic !

I hope this change of gears brings some action soon, since this is the starting point:

Domain owners are waiting for Afternic
Afternic is waiting for buyers
Buyers are waiting to be motivated
Motivational coaches and authors are waiting for people to buy their stuff
Platforms that help motivational coaches sell are waiting for them to signup
Developers are waiting for people that want to build platforms to call them
Hosting companies are waiting for developers to use them for their next project

Everyone is waiting

Reminds me of that quote

“Lawyers wait for you to get sued, doctors wait for you to get sick, and mechanics wait for you to have car trouble, but only a thief is waiting and praying for you to become rich.”

How hilarious to bring up the topic of Godaddy's reputation in this podcast. Everyone can read the 5 stars and 1 stars reviews over at trustpilot https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.godaddy.com and make up their own mind. Especially those of us that had extensive interactions with GoDaddy customer service on a regular basis.

Hi @Blueleaf66,
We can confirm that we'll be retesting the support number on the Custom Lander. It's temporarily down while we make some adjustments to ensure it's a valuable addition to the page.
Hi @GoDaddy

This recent Atom posting illustrates the clear advantage of providing a wide range of contact options on the lander, and ensuring prompt responses.

At 1:17:00 in to that DomainSherpa episode, when they are discussing the new self-brokerage, Mr. Nicks says/believes that DDC is 10 dollars a month. However, that's the price of DDC Basic Membership. On Afternic: "Self-brokerage is available to members of Discount Domain Club's top tier."
Please clarify.

Perhaps you're giving them ideas. Add a chat box & phone number for 5% additional commission at Afternic 😂
Though lamentable, such an outcome is not beyond expectations. 😢
