Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

List these domains as usual through your Afternic account. Once the 60-day lock from your registrar ends (a standard procedure for all newly registered domains), you'll be able to activate them for the Fast Transfer network, provided they're .com, .co, .net, .org, .de, .biz, .pw, .io, .xyz, or .info and have a Buy Now price under $100,000.

If your domain sells within the first 60 days, our TA team will be ready to assist you!

Also, setting a Buy Now price and using a sales lander can greatly increase your chances of making a sale.

Best of luck!
Many thanks again - just a bit of a pain having to reduce all my newbie prices to $99,999 :xf.cool:

Unless the domain is registered at GoDaddy, I wouldn't offer a lease-to-own option during the 60 day lock. I believe their TA team will just cancel those sales.

Many thanks Jannes. (y)

This is what in fact happens:

me (on Lead Center): "Excuse me, but is the buyer aware of the transfer lock that I mentioned earlier?"
AN broker: "First time i hear about this, but as far as i am aware they can have full use of the domain despite the lock."

TA team member (after I asked for clarification): "Domains are under a 60 day lock after being transferred. This domain will be locked until the 12th of April [last year]. You should notify the buyer regarding this. We can make the sale after this transfer lock is finished."

How the hell can I notify the buyer, oh via the broker, after educating him about what TA said.

He never responded.

What a great experience.

Regarding the transfer lock, if I win an auction from GoDaddy’s Expired or Closeout Auctions, and the name is transferred to my GoDaddy account. Is that name on a 60-day lock?

Usually once the domain hits my account I will list it immediately on Afternic. But maybe I need to wait 60 days now? I guess I’ve been “lucky” and never sold a name within 60 days of winning it in GD Expired Auctions (or closeout bin).

@GoDaddy

So how is that Self-Brokerage System coming along and do you have an updated ETA?

I'm thinking the same thing as just yesterday I had 3 Offers on domains I had recently won.

I sold one during the hold about a month or two ago, and it went pretty smooth, other than the 50 auto-messages from Afternic to "Please Set Prices!!" combined with a few "We Are Ready for the Transfer Code" emails.

I just let the brokers know to advise the buyers of the hold time, and that I'll send in the buy prices later on/closer to the transfer date.

Have you established a specific point at which you would reassess the situation? :xf.grin:

Are Atom & Sedo suitable for my first venture into listing, or am I better letting AN handle
everything until I get more experience?
Well, my personal view is that you'll experience less friction by using the likes of Atom, while you're learning the ropes. There is no doubt that that GD/AN has the best reach in the market, and if you stay in the industry you'll eventually want to sell through them, but there is plenty to learn in this game, and having the many glitches that come with the Afternic landers is not ideal. You can use the likes of Atom for landers, but still have your domains listed on Afternic (without using their landers) if you wish.

I'm feel like the essential need to have your domains at AN is beginning to lessen. I've been using different landers this past 6-7 months and all but one of my sales came through the landers. The one that didn't was through another marketplace. This is as opposed to previous years where I'd still get most of my sales through AN even when I was using other landers so I feel like that dominance is somewhat diminishing. To be transparent, I sell a very small amount of domains and have a small portfolio so my experience is by no means conclusive.

Also I forgot to mention the positive communication and proactive responses I've had from @GoDaddy here on the forum. Even though they take a bit of a bashing here (from myself too) the rep still takes time to be involved and I think that warrants praise. It would be much easier to not respond here at all.

Yeah, when I get tired of waiting.

That day is approaching soon, as I get a lot of leads (at a 4-figure minimum) but my Lead Center looks like a death camp. This "broker system" and its inherent delays is just not right for me or my portfolio. At Dan, I was closing at a pretty high rate (and at a lower minimum bid), but everything at Afternic is either Stalled or Confused and my sell rate has dropped through the floor.

And worse, the ultra-slow negotiation system is causing me to cave on pricing just to get something... anything done, and that's bad news. Selling on Afternic is like some weird social experiment to see if they can break your spirit.

Many thanks @NicTraders @Future Sensors @D Haynes

I've listed the first few today on AN. Seemed to go quite smoothly other than I have no real idea for valuations -
so I took the advice of Michelle Obama and went high 🚀 for the moment.

The 60 days are counting down, and as I gain a bit more knowledge I will adjust the prices.
It's difficult though when GD says 'Under $100' and Dynadot says 'almost $9,000' for the same domain.

They are all on Afternic NS1 & NS2 but I have read elsewhere on the forum that NS5 & NS6 are best for BIN.

Any thoughts?

I recommend that you set ns5/ns6 for all your Afternic landers, because of the technical DNS issues with Afternic's ns1/ns2 nameservers. You can change the lander type from the Afternic Dashboard, and it's not related to the NS you've set (it was in the past, but that's no longer the case).

Ok, thanks.

Will either / both of those routes give me access to stats for page visits or is it just a case of waiting for an email?

What kind of technical issues?

Visitor stats provided with some lander types are not related to NS choice.

It's called 'lame DNS delegation'. The Afternic ns1 and ns2 nameservers are only correctly configured for GoDaddy's own NameFind portfolio domains, but not for Afternic customer domains.
Hi

both of these (150.org / myqv.com) use ns1/ns2 on afternic w/ppc landers

imo...

Yep, there is something wrong with NS1/2 for a month or so, they seem stuck or something..
Don't really care tbh, Afternic parking is so problematic, I have moved all my names but 30, to NS3/4.. Will probably completely quit AN parking if this continues..

We need a filter or mark to see what domains are currently using Afternic nameservers.
