Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Suddenly 1300+ domain names which were listed earlier with Fast Transfer, have gone into "In Review" status.

The names have been in review for over 2 days now. I wrote to Afternic support too, but no reply yet. What's the fastest way to get them listed again?

My sale rep just back from vacation and he said he contacted Afternic TA about my 2 names and Afternic said they will pay me within 48 hours.
When I asked why Afternic did not start the transfer after they collected the money from the buyers 7 days ago. He answered:

I don't know how it works????

Can I ask Godaddy to replace the sale rep with another one who knows how the transfer works?

Trying to add new batch of names. Normally, it goes fine when done via GD. But lately it asks for Afternic login from my GD interface and then adds it. This time, asked again, and gave me this error.

And, yes, everytime these bugs pile up, my sales are affected, as normally I have 1 or more sales per day average, except during the buggy windows of GD/AN.

PS retried after couple of minutes. Asked for login to Afternic again (completely virgin memory), and gave me the same error...

This on top of getting long listed names into pending review. For now just a couple, but we are up for new round of bugginess. God help us all!

Both the software and the Agents at afternic are inconsistent.
Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.
There is a simple solution which they should do and it does not cost them any money but why they did not do it is beyond my imagination.

Replace the software with Dan software and replace the staffs with Dan's staff.
These problems with Afternic is nothing new but they have been there for a while and it looks like no one know how to fix it.

I've been finding that adding via Afternic is also troublesome if any names need verification. I don't mind adding the verification NS at all but I want it to work if I do. It reached a pointed where I could not finesse them through when using Firefox. I'm finding that Chrome works but not smoothly.

Adding names to cart is still slow. I've had some days recently where trying new registrations at GoDaddy was so slow that I switched browsers.

Having worked with GoDaddy for over 20 years, I know that expectations should be set low. That's not cynicism. It is simply being realistic based on extensive experience. Lately, though, things seem worse than usual. I'm seeing buggy and glitchy all over the place. Very little seems to work smoothly.

I would like to be happy with the GoDaddy experience. They have some good people, a relatively well-known brand, and boatloads of marketshare. The platform and/or upper management are severely flawed.

Hi @Smooth,
For a quick resolution, please connect with our live chat team at afternic.com/contact. Could you also DM us your Afternic ID so we can follow up with the support team afterwards?

@GoDaddy

I have a domain that was sold on 27th December the domain was transferred away from my Dynadot account on same day with Fast Transfer.

But I was surprised that Afternic wants Auth code for the domain, I told them that the domain has already been transferred, and I provided screenshots. Afternic Transaction Assurance team replied back and said that they want to check with the buyer to confirm receiving the domain.

Last time I heard from Afternic's support was on 31st of December and since then they ignored all my emails, and completely stopped replying.. they are just silent about it!!

The domain is not in my possession since 18 days ago, so either give me my money or return my domain back!!
Hi @Ostrados,
We'll definitely coordinate with the TA team on this matter. It would be helpful if you could DM us the domain in question.

Hi, If I sell a domain through Afternic, will the money be credited to my Afternic account and I can withdraw the money myself at a time and amount convenient for me, or after the sale, will the money be automatically sent to my bank account? Thanks!
Hi @romanlypovyi,
You'll need to set up your payout profile to receive your funds. We offer several payout options, and you can set a threshold so funds are disbursed only when your balance exceeds a certain amount. This can be configured while setting up your payout profile.

Afternic keeps "losing" the connection to my GD account. Instead of showing listed prices, now all names show "list for sale". When I add names there, it asks for login, adds the names and ... forgets the credentials the next time you go to the GD page.

On top of that, I started getting the white checkout pages again.

Another one: trying to get rid of "pending review" names, I copied them, deleted and readded. Only about 12 of those caused huge problems for Afternic. It couldn't verify the NS, albeit all had the unique NS, clicking the verify link was resulting in just 4 showing as successfully verified, but even those weren't being added etc. So had to add all of those in batches of 1-2 names.

As pretty much all of GD/AN issues, they are all consequence of a) limited server/cloud capacity for the required amount; b) set hard limits on connections beyond which you either get blank page, or error, or permanent wheel, or a default value from DB (e.g. Singapore for location); c) for what they are actually doing, GD/AN code is too "heavy" and requires to much resources, hence creating the issues in a) and b).

When the issues like these become more frequent, it basically means that the sales are due to go down as well, because, again, how the sales pages and shopping carts act are also dependent on it.

And, of course, the GD search algorithm is getting dumber by the day. Someone is "experimenting" but in a very weird way.

Here is its best recommendation for the search:

My quickest payment ever today. The funds hit my overseas account in less than 24 hours after the sale. Thanks, AN!

Wow. Never heard of a payment that fast from Afternic. Definitely not a overseas payment. They must have improved the payment process or you got lucky.

I can confirm that in September and November I also received 2 payments within 24 hours. International wire.

my an account is 10yr old but barely used so I'm far from expert... can someone explain if there are ways to tell where when and if a name I put a bin on propagates to ... for sale partners and all...

seems like this propagation is a monster mess.. some seeing their names on gd.. some elsewhere.. and many reports of different prices everywhere too

is this propagation even real or advertising myth? why even to this day when sale occurs seller doesnt even knows which partner it came from. seems like very helpful info to me. @GoDaddy

Could you please tell me, when a domain is sold on Afternic, in the final statement after the sale, what is indicated in the Sender (or client/buyer) field, does Afternic write, and all the data of Afternic or the real buyer? And next, what is indicated in the Payment Purpose field? For example, Sale of domain name {domain name}, or {transfer of ownership of domain ....}. Or when the money is already transferred to your internal bank account (Wire Transfer) (not Paypal), which is indicated there. It is important for me to know how to fill out the invoice internally for my bank in my country in the future before I receive the money in my bank account. Thank you.

Great to hear, @phaethon! We've got some exciting updates coming soon that could make this even faster...

Hi @romanlypovyi,
For a preview of the payout transmittal for Buy it Now transactions, you can visit this link. You'll find your seller information along with Afternic's marketplace details. If you need more information about what you see on the payout transmittal and why, we recommend reaching out to Afternic's support team via afternic.com/contact.

OK, I already brought this up. Before you send "Email sent to Buyer" for leads -- PLEASE tell your brokers (or your automation robots) to perform a portfolio check of the seller to see if the name is still available. I already told you about a name that was sold last September. You asked me for an example and I sent you 2 examples of emails going out even though the names were ALREADY SOLD. Now today, one of the names I sent you as an example on December 4th is updated with "Email sent to Buyer" - I SOLD the name via AFTERNIC in September, I gave you that name as an example of the issue on December 4th via DM, and today it is updated with "Email sent to buyer"?????
