Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Don't know what to say since they said it was a top priority to fix it back in September. And the checkout is still slow.

That would be a perfect 31-second commercial for the new Super Bowl, where GoDaddy will be featured again.

But if it's the perfect commercial for GoDaddy, then that video wouldn't even load.

And it's really nice to see then spending millions on a SB ad when Afternic is slowly dying an ugly death.

Good news... Just kidding.

Another day. No status update.

No contact from GoDaddy with the buyer.

I am really not sure how it can be that hard for someone at @GoDaddy to get ahold of someone at Afternic and just be like - "WTF is going on with this transaction?"

Brad
I finally heard back from Afternic TA. They asked me to manually push the domain.

I am not sure what happened with the normal process, where you unlock the domain and provide the AUTH code. When I did that days ago, nothing actually happened.

As soon as payment is received, I will detail the entire transaction from start to finish. @GoDaddy

is anyone catching any bin sales that are outside negotiations, something feels super off with my bin sales pattern, as there is none, which goes against my norms.

Maybe time to open up the old uni market for investors?
I sold Lunar.us via BIN a few days ago.

I am assuming it was via lander traffic, as

- I opted out of "Boost".
- I doubt it would be a "Boost" suggestion anyway.
- It seems unlikely someone would search for the term+extension.
- .US is not eligible for fast transfer.

After I messaged James, the domain at least moved to the "SOLD" status after a few days of no communication with either party.

Then there was some issue with the transfer. I unlocked and provided the AUTH code, and nothing happened.

When I talked to my @GoDaddy account rep on Friday, he talked to someone at Afternic. That is when I was told nothing was likely to happen over the weekend.

Then I apologized to the buyer on behalf of GoDaddy, explaining that it was not me dragging my feet.

As of now, the domain status still just shows "OK". It has not been moved to Afternic's account and is not in "pendingtransfer".

The buyer paid on Tuesday morning. Tomorrow is Monday, 6 days later.

What is actually going on? I have no idea.

Brad

Afternic is really broken. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand's up to.

The TA team doesn't know what the customer support is talking about.

My own predicament hasn't been resolved yet. Another month's payout is coming up due. And, the TA team still hasn't figured out previous month's payout. It's as if they don't keep any records. Pretty tiresome Red Tapism.

I am afraid something even more terrible is brewing over there.

There is a Russian joke "Hello left egg, hello right egg, but who is in the middle?" OMG can't stop laughing.
Similarly "Hello Godaddy, Hello Dan, but who is in the middle? Afternic of course.
Edit: maybe this version is more proper "Hello Dan, Hello Afternic, but who is in the middle? ๐Ÿฅš๐Ÿ†๐Ÿฅš

Just a precautionary warning for those who use custom checkout link

A buyer sent me this after I sent him custom checkout link on afternic to complete the purchase.

Lucky for me that I had also given him an option to visit the Domain in his browser and complete checkout (he did that 10-20 minutes after this message)

@Afternic can we please replace this experience with Godaddy.com experience sooner?

Afternic accepted the push. They now have possession of the domain.

Let's see how long it takes to transfer the domain to the buyer, and get paid.

This deserves a separate thread in the Advisories section.

During sep and oct

.
Guys, don't go nuts, if someone is genuinely interested, they can buy the domain on GD or any registrar. It's not rocket science.
I don't even check the lead center, it's waste of time 99% of times..

The selecting a payee right before payout can work, but is also inconvenient and sometimes I have multiple payouts from domain sales needing to go to different payees because they are owed by different entities.

In the past I could just set a payee on a per-domain basis, with GoDaddy auctions and premium listings. It was much easier for accounting.

When I talked to Afternic, really the only solution is multiple accounts.
Some marketplaces, like Atom, employ a more flexible layered approach. They initially release payments to the seller's marketplace account, then allowing the seller to choose how to withdraw their funds. Several default payout methods, such as PayPal, Wise, Payoneer, and Bitpay, can be configured for convenience.

Maybe Afternic is able to implement this in 2035.

Before Afternic is able to provide half of their promised features, we'll probably all be hiding from cannibal gangs in a desolate wasteland.

And no, I don't mean Detroit.

Thanks for letting us know, @Maged Khatab. The domains in review will need to be processed by the support team as these are likely to be compliance reviews. Regarding the domains pending sync, these should be processed within 24-48 hours. If they're still displaying "Pending Sync" beyond that, please let the support team know.

We've raised the Fast Transfer status issue with Afternic's team, who will investigate.

Seriously?! You've raised the FT issue to Afternic to investigate and not the fact that my entire portfolio was deleted due to a fatal error at the backend while using the CSV file to update my portfolio!

I opted-in for Fast-Transfer again and spent half the day re-accepting FT opt-in at different registrars. However, pending review domains are now 55, and I already reached out to Afternic support twice with no response.

Please fix the platform to avoid these catastrophic situations or at least put a warning not to take action while everything is messed up at the backend.

I have internally debated whether GoDaddy's platform is archaic and poorly suited to growth versus GoDaddy flat out not caring. At this time, I believe that it is both with not caring having the upper hand. Clearly, GoDaddy has the financial resources to make things right but for whatever reason(s) they choose not to. I attribute arrogance and ignorance at the highest levels.

Thank you to the frontline GoDaddy/Afternic employees tasked with helping us. To the management types who probably at best are entirely oblivious to the facts that the platform is bug riddled, you are failing stakeholders, shareholders, employees, and clients big and small.
