Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Two of my names went to In Review and later got deleted by the system. No email, no warning.

If you acquired a company with a system customers in your industry tend to love is it not expected that you retain those great features . Like its said you don't change a winning team.
So why is Godaddy not making the best of DAN acquisition?
Because Godaddy is problematic by design, the more problems they have the more money they make, remember same thing is world wide, many artificial problems are created to sell later as profitable solutions!

I had one last LTO transaction left with Dan.

They emailed me many times about this issue, telling me in grandiloquent sentences how great Afternic is, how they do migrations entirely for the benefit of their users, and how they have built a great system.

Of course I simply said no, and continued with Dan.
I got paid on my LTO today from Dan, even though I've migrated to AN.

@GoDaddy Could you confirm if Afternic has paid the FULL amount due for October? Per my bank account statement, whomever issued the last payout on 7th November further deducted 15% commission off the pending amount.

Also, I received the payment via Visa Payments Ltd this time, which was unusual.

Could you confirm if the payer was indeed Afternic via that address? If yes, then I've proof to share with you regarding partial payment of the instalment by Afternic. I want the pending amount due for October paid ASAP.

I used to work at a major tech company years ago, and the software was always full of issues.

I remember talking to developers and asking them why there were constantly so many issues.

I was told that if everything worked perfectly, they wouldn't have a job.

What’s the point of "make offer" in LP if you don’t have the ability to approve the offer? Waiting for the broker is so frustrating. Two days ago, I informed him that I’m lowering the floor price and can accept the offer. How do you handle this? I know I’m going to lose this buyer.

time is the biggest enemy in domaining. We need to be able to talk to potential buyers like on dan. I hope you make the sale.

Heads up! I thought DAN LTO domains would stay at Dan until being paid off but Afternic is transferring them now. For one of my DAN LTOs, I got e-mails from Afternic saying the domain was sold (again) and transferred. Just got off phone with GD Premier rep who confirmed those e-mails were NOT a resale and were sent in error but future DAN LTO payments will come from Afternic.

Welcome to magical world of GD!

There must have been a "connection" problem. I predict they will solve it in the second quarter of 3048.

I thought DAN LTO domains would stay at Dan until being paid off but Afternic is transferring them now.
DAN.COM used Dutch based Metaregistrar B.V. for holding customer LTO domains. It's clear that GoDaddy won't tolerate that anymore. GoDaddy/Afternic has been increasingly active (aggressive) in ensuring that sold domains end up with themselves as a registrar for several years now. The Push model with holding accounts at numerous registrars that DAN.COM used has actually been completely scaled down, and only if there is really no other option will Afternic reluctantly agree to it, although this must be upon request. New marketplaces such as the popular DomainEasy have realized that Sellers and Buyers greatly appreciate the Push method. DomainEasy offers the Push method as the preferred method for transfers and currently holds almost 100 holding accounts at external registrars in order to make Seller and Buyer happy as quickly as possible. Atom is also very flexible in this regard.

This is the core problem with Afternic - the total lack of control in negotiations.

Even the smallest steps take forever and even if you agree to sell for X offer price, you're still probably weeks from closing the deal and seeing your money. That is, if the buyer still wants the domain after all that waiting.

You may think you're moving forward sometimes, but that's just the illusion of movement created by the "man behind the curtain". You're just a pawn in a much larger game.

Afternic is VR experiment in selling domains while in suspended animation.

I believe this platform could become the next dan.com. I’m currently in the process of transferring all my domain names over. I set up an account and did some initial testing to see how it works. I even purchased one of my own domain names to experience the buying process from the buyer's side, and the transaction went smoothly. There are definitely some areas for improvement, which I shared with them, and they’ve already implemented a few changes. I also suggested they become active on NamePros. The negotiation interface works very well, which is something many sellers are looking for. Below, I’ve attached screenshots of the negotiation screens from both the seller’s and buyer’s perspectives.

If you’re exploring alternatives to Afternic, consider Nameshift. They offer an excellent negotiation interface.

@GoDaddy @Afternic
Will you be adding your presence to Bluesky?
You can use your own domain name as a username.
A lot of people have left X

I see Nameshift is in the Netherlands. Any relation to Dan?

Afternic time to consider integrating bitpay, Dan used it, many others do also, your clients could be losing sales as not having it as an option.

I’m not sure. As far as I know, it was founded by a company that owns and sells a large number of domain names.

I've been critical of Afternic search, Dan closing, and review process, but I must say that Afternic sales seem to be on fire recently. Whatever you are doing the last week or two, please continue!

Congrats Bob! I'm getting lots of offers, but zippo in terms of sales.

And everything takes sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long to move from Point A to B to C, that it gets depressing when a 2- to 3-week negotiation to suddenly turn into dust. Hell, I could have achieved the same result (or better) in 10 minutes on Dan.

Afternic better get that Seller Negotiation feature up and running soon, as I'm not sure how much more of this I can take.

Of course, Afternic's sales are on fire because there is no other marketplace

Can you be sure it's anything AN are doing specifically? Do they tell you if it was a sale through the lander or their registry path or a partners registry path etc?
