Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

 I wonder what kind of partnership they have with Afternic.

Thanks for clarifying that. It's just a bit confusing with the Dan.com checkout link.

I have one in progress. Let's see how it goes.

Brad
Well, I just received an email from the buyer asking me about a status update.

The buyer apparently paid a few days ago, but like them I have had no status update.

There is nothing in my Afternic account.

You really need to streamline this process, as the seller is completely in the dark about what is going on.

That can't inspire confidence with a buyer either.

It looks like I am dragging my feet, when in reality GoDaddy is dragging their feet. @GoDaddy

The buyer just told me -

I haven't received any updates except my card being charged (attached).

So basically neither of us have received any update in the few days since they paid.

This is really not acceptable service, as a buyer or seller.

It's a poor reflection on me as the seller, like I am the one slow walking the transaction.

This type of transaction could have been completed in hours via Dan.com. Meanwhile, Afternic seems to add inefficiency into the process.

Getting paid is the core business for GoDaddy, so probably this issue is not regarded as something that needs to be improved or tested.

I think the process would be faster if the buyer found it at godaddy search & bought it from godaddy main website , but maybe he bought it from afternic lander which maybe still having lots of hidden issues and bugs .

It was done using the Dan.com checkout link, because GoDaddy said that method is still operational.

Afternic still hasn't paid me my monthly instalments due for the month of October on the 21st of October (sale took place on the 8th). Yes, it's been more than a FORTNIGHT since and they still have no clue whatsoever.

I'd made a slight banking address correction and was assured that I'd receive the payment within 2-3 days after the correction.

Over the course of time, I have contacted several different support reps multiple times (they don't assign one per customer for follow ups due to some strong logical fallacy) and apprised them of my problem (it's actually theirs).

They keep assuring me that I will receive it "within 2-3 days". Or, that "they can see in their backend that the payment will be cleared within 1-2 days". Or that "now all the dots are green" and whatnot. LOL

The major TAKEAWAY for me after this whole fiasco is that their BACKEND is BROKEN. Terribly. Much more since the DAN integration.

At this point in time, I don't know if it's deliberate or sheer INCOMPETENCE. Man, it seems after the whole DAN "integration" episode, Afternic has gone REALLY downhill.

I could have started a whole new well-deserved thread (perhaps I should given the strangeness of the case) but I am still giving them the benefit of doubt.

I just don't know what's going on with Afternic!

@GoDaddy

@GoDaddy So, apparently Afternic is yet to confirm whether I've been paid or not. I've mailed the TA twice since yesterday. As usual, no response nor any acknowledgement.

I did receive a PARTIAL payment from a highly unusual sender early morning today: VISA PAYMENTS LIMITED

Usually, Afternic pays me via some other method, mostly bank wire.

Has anyone ever received payments from Afternic via the aforementioned sender?

The ridiculous part is that the partial payment amount has been offset with 15% commission again.

Meaning, Afternic has deducted 30% commission instead of 15% this time around.

What a $hit $how!

Interns at work or gross incompetence shining through?

I am frankly disgusted by this EXTREMELY unprofessional behaviour. They don't reply to emails. Treat customers like $hit.

And, 90% brokers don't bother replying to messages when following up on sales enquiries.

What should I do? I've never encountered such recklessness in the past. Especially considering Godaddy is a billion dollar "COMPANY".

The Godaddy/Afternic rep hasn't even bothered to revert here in the official thread.

Is the name "On hold" yet ?

You've mentioned before that you will check with afternic product manager for this feature , can you update us please ?

Thanks for checking in @love4ever. Yes - it's something that the team is assessing. We'll continue to check in to see whether the feature is a feasible addition to Afternic.

Check your domains. Some of mine are not displaying the correct landing page. The domains are BIN, but they are showing the request price instead. I can't change the landing page either; it always reverts back to the request price page.
Hi @NorthernDomains
Are the domain names you're trying to resolve to a BIN lander TLDs that GoDaddy supports? As Afternic's BIN lander uses GoDaddy's purchase path, we need to ensure that names will complete a purchase successfully. If those TLDs aren't supported, the Request Price lander will be displayed instead.

@GoDaddy
Hi @Kazama San
Can you DM us the domain name?

@GoDaddy

I continue to lose several LTO sales per month due to ICAAN locked.
Please provide a solution to edit LTO correctly, it's impossible to enable/disable LTO in bulk using CSV and i have no access to API.
It's also very bad for customers as sales are everytime canceled.
Hi @davidc1
Thanks for following up on this. I know that we've spoken about this in the past. Since LTO sales are managed by us via GoDaddy's dashboard, we need to ensure that names are transferred in to GoDaddy while the LTO is active. We're reviewing the policy to understand whether we can adjust it.

@GoDaddy my problem solved after i sent you dm. and i have received quick replies by afternic after i contacted you here.

Thank you.
Great to hear, @TheDomainsCollector! Glad you were able to resolve the issue.

Hi Brad,
Just responded to your DM - we'll check in on this one.

@NorthernDomains @GoDaddy I also sent an email this am after finding many domains with request price lander instead of make offer. All tlds supported by godaddy.

I spend so much time policing my account and domains. It takes a lot of time everyday doing this. Not to mention that the bulk search still does not function as it should.

I also find it unacceptable that I add and verify a domain, but it shows the old owners pricing. To me this should not happen AT ALL.

This is my main problem with Afternic - even the littlest thing takes absolutely forever and both buyer and seller are left waiting days to get even a simple update. You're wondering when he'll pay and he's wondering where his domain is.

This "slow-ass man behind a curtain"-type business model is NOT conducive to sales.

I moved my landers to Afternic nameservers because Dan nameservers were not migrated as GoDaddy promised. My landers are set to BIN, but some names have request price landers... should we check all of our names one by one?

I have selected all my Afternic domains and bulk applied the BIN Lander. The issue is fixed now.

Earlier today I finally got the domain sold email from Afternic.

I unlocked, and provided the AUTH code via Afternic and nothing has happened.

The domain wasn't transferred. It isn't pending transfer.

I reached out to my GoDaddy rep, who is looking into what is going on.

I don't expect anything to happen over the weekend, so from payment to transfer will be a week (best case).

This custom checkout link has been a disappointing process that reflects poorly on me as a seller.

A week is seriously unacceptable for this "service".

Dan bot could do this in minutes.

Any business with enough staff could manually do it in a few hours max.

And my @GoDaddy account rep just confirmed nothing is likely to happen over the weekend.

Of course, now I will have to contact the buyer again and explain the situation.

If I was a buyer at this point, it would almost seem like I am being scammed by the seller.

Why is everything with Afternic such an inefficient pain in the ass?

I will post a full timeline of events once this transaction actually completes.
