Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

So, what's the process with the "checkout link"?

I sent the link to the buyer. I assume they did something with it, as the link now shows -

"This domain is not available anymore".

When I go to my Afternic account, I can't see any reference to the sale under lead center or sold sections.
Where do pending checkout link transactions appear? @GoDaddy

Brad
The sale process via checkout link is a bit confusing, I had one last month where buyer kept telling me he paid already but I was only sent you have sold the domain via Afternic email after like 24-36 hours, no idea what happens in the background.

When buyer sent me that email, I got in touch with chat support and they said we don't see anything yet which is kind of weird but I believe it is ultimately down to buyer experience still being DAN.com for the checkout link.

Hi @love4ever
Views counted are direct visitors to your domain's landers. While we can't speak for other marketplaces, Afternic does remove any identified bot traffic from the views column to ensure that your stats aren't skewed.

I knew that the bot traffic will be your justification for dramatic decrease of domain views numbers at afternic comparing to DAN !

The recently viewed domain feature was a request of many domainers here at namepros , I dont understand why afternic didnt add it same like DAN ? What's the issues if added ?? What's the intention behind not adding it ??

You've mentioned before that you will check with afternic product manager for this feature , can you update us please ?

Because everything progresses sooooooo sloooooooow at Afternic - getting anything done there is like molasses in January, placed in a fridge then packed in a freezer before being transported to Europa, the ice moon of Jupiter.

I can remember when you'd ask about a new feature at Dan, and a week later it would be there. Fixing bugs would take a day or two, sometimes less - I remember posting a bug on here and they got back to me within hours that it had been fixed.

These guys were responsive with a capital "R" and GoDaddy should have hired some of the Dan devs and brought them stateside.

Bulk camel casing upload failed today. Worked yesterday

Check your domains. Some of mine are not displaying the correct landing page. The domains are BIN, but they are showing the request price instead. I can't change the landing page either; it always reverts back to the request price page.

Afternic still hasn't paid me my monthly instalments due for the month of October on the 21st of October (sale took place on the 8th). Yes, it's been more than a FORTNIGHT since and they still have no clue whatsoever.

I'd made a slight banking address correction and was assured that I'd receive the payment within 2-3 days after the correction.

Over the course of time, I have contacted several different support reps multiple times (they don't assign one per customer for follow ups due to some strong logical fallacy) and apprised them of my problem (it's actually theirs).

They keep assuring me that I will receive it "within 2-3 days". Or, that "they can see in their backend that the payment will be cleared within 1-2 days". Or that "now all the dots are green" and whatnot. LOL

The major TAKEAWAY for me after this whole fiasco is that their BACKEND is BROKEN. Terribly. Much more since the DAN integration.

At this point in time, I don't know if it's deliberate or sheer INCOMPETENCE. Man, it seems after the whole DAN "integration" episode, Afternic has gone REALLY downhill.

I could have started a whole new well-deserved thread (perhaps I should given the strangeness of the case) but I am still giving them the benefit of doubt.

I just don't know what's going on with Afternic!

@GoDaddy

I continue to lose several LTO sales per month due to ICAAN locked.
Please provide a solution to edit LTO correctly, it's impossible to enable/disable LTO in bulk using CSV and i have no access to API.
It's also very bad for customers as sales are everytime canceled.

Either a) being a jerk, b) hoping to steal your personal info from an invoice or c) he has no idea what he's buying.

hoping to steal your personal info from an invoice

How can someone do this since there will be no billing until payment is completed?

Lots of marketplaces provide your personal info on the initial invoice the buyer needs to pay (i.e. prior to payment), so a lot of 3rd world scammers use this as a way to data mine for their various scams.

Dan used to be notorious for this before they changed their invoices to read Dan as the seller, and I believe Sedo still provides personal info once the deal is agreed upon and the payment invoice is generated.

I doubt these scamming nitwits know which marketplaces put the buyer's personal data on the payment invoice and which don't, as they're just out there tossing pot after pot of rotten spaghetti on the wall to see what sticks.

At Sedo, Buyer and Seller info becomes visible when the transaction has completely finished.

It looks like all my hard word updating nameservers, as well as uploading CamelCase and BIN data, is paying off, as I just got a couple of new offers from Afternic this morning.

Good timing, as the minister is reading Dan its last rites.

But Sedo will release an invoice if the buyer requests it as a requirement to submit payment - a lot of companies won't release a large sum of money without one.

And lots of other marketplaces automatically release an invoice when the deal is agreed upon, which is why so many 3rd world scammers try this trick.

Back in the day, I used to get lots of inquiries from sketchy countries and sent them ALL to Dan Brokerage and absolutely zero turned into buys. I think that's why Dan deleted user info from invoices awhile back, as they were becoming a target of fraudsters.

This is something different than what I meant in previous posting, but you are right about that. In that case Seller has to create an invoice for the Buyer, and upload it to Sedo. However, I believe it's always done (on request) after payment has been received by Sedo, and the domain has changed ownership, not earlier.

Once again I tested @Afternic "Boost" with a random search term. This time "pickleball".

The first result is pickleball.dog. 🤦‍♂️

The other results are not much better.

If I search Afternic inventory, I can see better combos not listed.

The @GoDaddy suggestions suck.

Why should anyone opt for the "Boost" premium when these are the results?

Someone could have a good combo for sale, and it is not listed at all or like 25th on the list.

Meanwhile, pickleball.dog takes up that much premium space at the top.

Are these the results you get from advanced "AI"?
