Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Still havenโ€™t received a response of any kind from Afternic Support.

*** 2 domains sold via FT. They were automatically/immediately transferred... The โ€œTransfer is doneโ€ emails havenโ€™t been received. Payouts havenโ€™t been scheduled.

*** 1 pending transfer. Held up by Afternic for days.

*** Domains stuck in review for days.

I donโ€™t understand why things have to be this way.

@GoDaddy, can you please intervene? Iโ€™ve DMed you about this.

Update:

Outstanding payments were settled on the 14th. Domains in the review blackhole were cleared days later.

@GoDaddy, thank you for helping to get the above issues resolved. Appreciate your assistance.

That said, we need a proper, general solution to the issue of payment delays. There have been too many complaints here and elsewhere. We shouldn't have to deal with this!

I have no time for frustration so Afternic is out of my life as I'm just amazed a company of this size can't even get a basic sales lander to work consistently. Afternic should be charging 5% commission based on the inferior quality of their service.

Agreed, and my big problem with Afternic is that is always gets worse. Slower broker response times, more bugs, more issues with landers, higher commissions.

But this is what happens when you choose an old, archaic, featureless platform (Afternic) over a new, up-to-date, feature-rich one (Dan) and then try to update the old one with the new one's features.

You get something like this:

None of these are the case here. Like I said, no reason. I would understand if there was a plausible reason for domains going into review but the issue is it keeps happening on names where nothing has changed and none of the official reasons apply.

Iโ€™ve already reached out to support for a fix just waiting on a response.

Ooooh this is a good one!

Support cleared my 113 names from review yesterday.

Was all good for approx 16 hours.

Now 83 names gone into review!

Quick glance and they look to be mostly different names from the last 113.

Again, nothing has changed with any of these names. No DNS changes, no renewals, no price updates, not expiring, no whois changes... half of them I forgot I own I haven't looked at them in so long.

Decided to give Afternic a test run for a month. Past migration from Dan, some domains failed to sync. Instead of drilling in on the issue and resolving it, Afternic support asked me to delete the domains and re-add them with verification records. LOL.

There is also another controversy that I will share if it doesn't get resolved to my satisfaction.

Hello @GoDaddy

I was really hoping for some dates or estimates here, as I already know what's going on from Dan Support.

I am one of the many who ALREADY have their domains listed at Afternic, so I do not need to migrate and therefore won't be able to make use of the temp "Afternic remapping" so that traffic goes to Afternic and not Dan.

Right now, all I am really wondering about is my primary question in that set that went unanswered:

When will Dan nameservers be forwarding to Afternic as promised?

And by that question, I am NOT referring to "migration remapping" and a hypothetical scenario like if I were to buy a new domain tomorrow and use NS1/NS2.DAN.COM as the nameservers, when would that domain forward to Afternic?
Once the full migration has finished, we'll be looking at switching nameservers, but not before then.

Three domains have the same issue and their status listed normally ( nothing in review ) .

@GoDaddy
Please feel free to DM us the domain name, we'll take a look.

@GoDaddy

Feature request: Please add Google Analytics to our landing pages. This information is widely available elsewhere, and the stats GA provides are essential to our ongoing domain analysis.

I'm not asking to reinvent the wheel; I'm just looking to add tools to help us decide when renewals come around.
Thanks, @NorthernDomains. To make sure that we adhere to privacy requirements, Google Analytics isn't something we'll add to Afternic. In terms of data to aid renewal decisions, @James Iles wrote this blog post recently: https://blog.afternic.com/renewal-decisions/, which talks about using Afternic for renewal decisions, as well as GoDaddy searches.

Random "In Review" did it for me. I don't point anything to Afternic anymore and doubt I ever will again. I even removed all my prices from Afternic listings so Sedo MLS will work but I'm 100% done with Afternic and Afternic MLS. Got tired of emailing to get the "In Review" ones fixed to see the same thing happen weeks later. If you don't email them they will sit "In Review" forever so nobody is actually reviewing anything.

I literally use anyone NamePros, Efty, Atom White Label, Sedo and I get 0 "In Review" or landers deciding they don't wanna work on certain days.

Until Afternic can get the basics down=domains not falling into review for no reason, landing pages staying the way you set them error free I personally don't think anyone should point their domains there. If a company can't get the basics down after months/years point somewhere that can like literally almost everyone besides Afternic.

I have no time for frustration so Afternic is out of my life as I'm just amazed a company of this size can't even get a basic sales lander to work consistently. Afternic should be charging 5% commission based on the inferior quality of their service.
Thanks for the feedback @SpareDomains. We'd like to take a look at some examples of names you're referring to. Could you DM us some examples if you have any active?

Thanks, @Vivere. Glad this was resolved for you. We're monitoring things closely. We are also in the process of brining more TA automation over from Dan.com, speeding up domain pushes, transfers, and more.

Hi Kyle, could you DM us with your Afternic username? We'd like to get the team to take a look.

Hi Theo,
Good to have you here at Afternic again. Could you DM with some details of your current issue?

@GoDaddy I moved all my Dan names off Dan as I was told it would be sunsetted on Oct 15. Yet I still see others using live Dan landers. Is Dan closing for good, and on what date?

Simple answers:
Yep, and they don't know...
If you actually want some certainty around your landers you're probably better off with a different platform.

Yes. Four weeks after the Migration Center launched, we began the auto-migration process, moving those accounts from Dan.com to Afternic who hadn't opted out, or self-migrated. This process is ongoing, and these domains will automatically switch to Afternic's Custom Lander (or our Request Price lander in some cases) once they're migrated over.

Thanks, and if this mythical day ever arrives, please let me know.

@Future Sensors You mentioned this in another thread https://www.namepros.com/threads/domaineasy-com-official-thread.1336838/post-9275811 I didn't want to hijack that thread... but wanted to understand more. What would be the purpose of a forward rather than an NS change? NS change comes with 15% commission. A forward would come with 25%. Would there be any benefit to a forward though? Something I'm missing? I heard this mentioned by someone else somewhere and never gave it a thought, but perhaps I'm missing something

I just mentioned that it's technically possible. Not using it myself. Some do it because they still want to keep receiving email on their domains. You will indeed pay the sky-high commission by redirecting that way.

I guess it's actually a helping hand for those that haven't yet update their NS as they should, since Dan is closing.

Well - this has been announced long ago. Cant' say they haven't been warned. For example i removed everything I had at Dan.

Whenever a platform shuts down for whatever reason, users should move their accounts (domains) where they belong from now on. I don't see this as a problem on GD part but rather a problem the user needs to deal with. Internet is an ever-changing world, and it's an accepted fact.

Note1. It might be a higher commission; although I hope not. There are technical ways to pass-through the original nameservers to the reditect target page, so the hit is tracked, original ns are saved, and proper commission assigned to that seller.

Note2. However, not redirecting them would be worse. As such, those sellers can at least continue to get sales.

Agreed, but you seem to be totally missing the fact that Dan is NOT closed down, and is active and taking offers and is apparently processing sales. It was supposed to close after Oct 15, but the migration has been delayed, and this delay is currently sitting at 9 long days.

And THAT situation is clearly GoDaddy's problem.

Ideally this should use the Afternic checkout links which can be gotten from the dashboard and hence 5% commission.

But I don't think they can programmatically generate them yet.

Hi @GoDaddy ,

I have a sale on @Afternic , and I already completed the Domain Transfer out 9 days ago (16th October), until today, there's still no Payout schedule. I asked the TA supports and they answered "we're reviewing" 3 days ago, but nothing happened.

So can you please help me to process the payout? Will send you DM the details of sale.

Thats not practical at all , If i have hundreds or thousands of domains to go for each domain individually to check on-site views stat !! It is hard to go checking one by one and wasting of time .

Please add the feature ( Recently viewed ) under views column same like in dan before , when choosing this option it was showing the recently viewed domains sorted on top of the list .

Without google analytics or at least ( Recently viewed ) features your are keeping us watching our portfolios like blind without to figure out or understand what is going on !!!

I agree 100%. Please add this. Also please fix the bulk search to only include what was specifically searched. Right now it is including ALL domains that contain the search criteria.

Thanks @love4ever. You have a snapshot of all domain views through the "Views" column on your portfolio page. However, I know the feature you mean. I don't believe it's something that's planned right now, but I'll check with Afternic's product manager.
