Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

I deleted a domain on Afternic and now can't list it back. Over 5 days now, it says, verification queued. What is the solution to this? Can anyone help out? It's quite a new registered domain and I added the txt verification to the registrar, but still doesnt work. Afternic doesn't reply thier messages via emails too!

Why bother with a feedback thread if @GoDaddy clearly just dosnt give a sht. Imo, close the thread and anything related down, make an official statement "We are here to ruin your day, Domainers" and call it a day.

In my 10+ years buying and selling domains, this has got to be one of the biggest jokes ive seen.

Activity in this thread has dwindled, reflecting a growing sense of resignation among Sellers. Despite months of advocacy and attempts to convey the urgency of the situation, domain investors are now actively exploring alternative platforms for their landers, including myself. I've found that other marketplaces significantly stimulate the creative part of my brain, and creativity is a crucial factor for creating effective company branding for my buyers.

So, welcome back, creativity!

Couldn't decide if better to post here or on Dan official thread. >>> Temp cross-posting...

The seamless migration process from Dan to Afternic was a mirage. How to be paid... I moved from 'no worries' and multiple successes on Dan to 'Can't do that' and 'Sorry, this time it will be OK' (it wasn't). In the meantime, Afternic Customer Satisfaction sends out email asking for a few minutes to fill-out a feedback survey (handled by qualtrics.com) Here's my heartfelt feedback:

Hi Polly
Thanks for your note.
If you want to make your service better at Afternic, get your systems to work - the first time.

Domain sellers & brand specialists are usually technically clever people. We will try to find a way to succeed even after multiple failures. But a point in time arises where puzzlement expands: Why doesn't this operate properly? Why is it so poorly designed? Others must also be troubled using this poor system. DomainNameSales & Dan.com worked, but got binned. Am I a schmuck / fool to continue with Afternic? Is the marginal revenue sufficient reward for continuously needing patience & meeting repeat frustration?

The illusion of being the Godaddy beast, is when you think you are the greatest in the world, what Godaddy does not understand is the fact that, many domainers with great portfolios will debark away to other marketplaces, as a result GD favorite end users will see only some crap, they will blame GD of this and GD will lose customers!!!

@GoDaddy

Here is my list of what Afternic needs to add as soon as possible.

1. Self-Brokering.
Yes this is by far the number one thing everyone wants, even buyers prefer to talk directly to sellers.
Self-Brokering allows real time communications between buyers/sellers and not having to wait for days and days to relay messages to one another, and time is always of the essence.
Self-Brokering also assures buyers and sellers that there is no hanky panky going on with offers between buyers and sellers.
Anytime there is a middle man aka broker, neither party ever really knows what is really being offered and or said to the other party. Trust and transparency is the most importing thing between buyers and sellers.

2. Afternic Bot aka Dan Bot.
This is what helps make transactions fast and smooth without opting in to a Fast Transfer program.
3. The Option to Opt In and Out of Fast Transfers.
We should be able to turn off and on Fast Transfers in Bulk or on a Single domain.
For me I would like to have my domains under $1000 opted it for fast transfer, but higher
priced domains I want complete control in Approving transfers.

4. Chat Support on Landers.
Customers need to be able to speak to Afternic without having to email or call.

5. Sellers Profile and Landing Pages.
In case you are not aware everyone has a profile and in it has a link to all of our domains.
The link to your profile is located in Account settings
Every one of your domains now have 2 Landing pages not just 1.
A main Godaddy landing page and an Afternic landing page. Very unnecessary and a bit confusing.
The domains listed in our profiles are linked to an Afternic landing page that does not allow camel casing.
Our domains in our profile must be linked to our main Godaddy landing page.
There is no need for these Afternic landers and should be deleted.
The Afternic landing pages do have a link to our profile domain inventory but I cant find out how anyone can find our profile and the Afternic landing pages other then us from our account settings.
This is why a profile link Must be on our main Godaddy landers so buyers can find our domain inventory.

Also our company name can be seen in our Afternic landing pages and that should also be seen in our main Godaddy landing pages as well but it's not.
Plus our profiles must have Filters to search through our domains. A-Z, Z-A, Price High to Low, Low to High, Most Viewed, Recently Added and so on.
Also Descriptions and Verified Seller should also be added to our profiles.
It would also be great if our profiles could be indexed on Google under our company name.
Most of this was part of our Dan Profile/Store/Landers and needs to be in our Afternic Profiles/Landers
If all of this and more is implemented then I think Afternic/Godaddy's aftermarket has a lot of potential to be great for all of us. (as long as they keep commissions at 15%) :xf.wink:

The more domains we all sell means more money we make and more money Godaddy makes.

A win win for all of us. :xf.smile:
Hi @lennco
Thanks for your feedback, here's what's coming at Afternic, to answer your points:

Self brokerage: we're bringing this to market in Q1 2025 to give you the choice of negotiating your own leads, or handing them off to our expert brokers.

Automation in TA (Dan bot): Dan's automation, aka the Dan bot, was a popular part of Dan's platform, and that tech is something we're actively implementing into Afternic. These automations will further speed up the TA process and reduce the time you spend managing transactions.

Happy to also provide feedback on your other points:
Opt in and opt-out of Fast Transfer: From this thread, and other feedback received, greater autonomy over pending review and fast transfer statuses is something that'll be valued by the community. We're planning on brining a pending review self-serve system, and this may extend to Fast Transfer activation, too. The ultimate goal is to reduce the time you need to spend with our support team.

Chat on Landers: It's interesting that this feedback continues to surface - we've tried out live chat on our Buy it Now lander in the past, and the results were mixed. Increased options and distractions on landers could confuse buyers. That being said, we'll experiment with adding different contact options to the Custom Lander and measure the results. Ultimately, we only want our landers to display designs and features that will increase conversion rates.

Profile search and development: The features you're referring to at Dan.com were, overall, not leading to many sales. While these features may satisfy domain investors, they don't move the needle in terms of domain sales. We're focused on the biggest positive differences we can make for domain sellers.

James, I'd appreciate if you'd actually pay attention at what is the issue about. I am not concerned about Dan vs Godaddy link, although it would require less explaining why I suggested afternic checkout, only to get Dan (now), or Godaddy (in the future). The concern is that during completion of the transaction it doesn't show anywhere the name of the domain that I am paying for or if I am even paying for a domain. It should show at all times, at every page, what is the transaction for.
Thanks, @Recons.Com. The point I was trying to make was that while the transaction flow at Dan.com may not be showing the domain name throughout, the upcoming GoDaddy links will use the GoDaddy checkout process and the domain will therefore be available to check throughout.

This is a 2nd post on Twitter about higher commission getting charged.
Thanks, @silentg, this was quickly resolved.

@GoDaddy @DAN.COM

1) When will Dan be closing down and no longer accepting live offers from buyers?
a) What are you supposed to with post-Oct 16 offers on Dan?

2) When will Dan nameservers be forwarding to Afternic as promised?

As this is Oct 18 and Dan remains a "live platform" with domains forwarding and customers able to make offers, your previous statements and assurances have proven to be incorrect, so I think we would all appreciate some updated dates and ETAs.

Thank you.
Hi @DomainRecap,
We've entered the auto-migration period. This began on October 16th, following the four-week notice period, and the launch of the Migration Center. Your account will continue to be live, but as Dan.com reminds sellers at the top of any negotiation, payments at Dan.com ceased on October 15th.

Any domains that have already been migrated to Afternic, and using Dan nameservers, will be automatically redirecting to the Custom Lander (unless you used the Dan.com price request lander, in which case it'll redirect to Afternic's Request Price lander).

This process will continue until all domains for sellers who have selected auto-migration have been migrated over.

Was there any solution provided for Pending Sync domains?

Afternic rep told me that the domain was actively listed and not to worry but when i visit the lander:

"This domain is registered, but may still be available."
Hi @silentg
Pending sync continues to be a status that indicates that the domain is synching across the distribution network. If these do get stuck for any reason, your rep should be able to clear them. If they don't, please DM us.

Just had 85 domains go into review for no reason 😂
Hi @Kyle Tully
In most cases the domains may head into review after important adjustments, if the names are expiring, or if the Whois status changes. Afternic's support team at afternic.com/contact can process these for you within a few minutes.

We're planning a self-serve pending review system for 2025.

Changed all my landers to "request price"

If you try to buy the domain on the BIN lander, it crashes & leads to a "Error occurred processing link" page.

Too risky to use bin landers until they fix them, if they ever do.
Hi @MattDomainNames
Which domains were you experiencing errors on? Afternic's landers support extensions that GoDaddy's checkout process supports. Those TLDs are available here: https://www.godaddy.com/domains/gtld-domain-names

Which ugly prices is this for lease to own !! Ending with .50 / .34 / .67 / 0.15
Please remove this cents fractions because its looks really unprofessional !
In DAN it never been like that .

Thanks, @lovely4ever. At Dan, I believe they rounded up/down to the nearest dollar. However, as a public company offering LTO sales in dozens of currencies through the GoDaddy checkout process, this isn't something we're able to implement in the near term.

Dont we need to mention number of months to avoid confusion in the custom lander?
* My concern is showing in the red color text below.

Show attachment 264855
As soon as a potential buyer clicks the Lease to Own button, they'll see the maximum month count, along with ownership information.

This added information is something we could experiment with displaying - although it may add confusion for inexperienced buyers without the full context of ownership information.

Could you check whether you have any domains in review? If you have a domain in pending review status, it'll display this lander until it's reactivated again.

Please reach out to our support team through live chat at afternic.com/contact, @appelmoik. They'll be able to investigate this one for you.

Hello @GoDaddy

I was really hoping for some dates or estimates here, as I already know what's going on from Dan Support.

I am one of the many who ALREADY have their domains listed at Afternic, so I do not need to migrate and therefore won't be able to make use of the temp "Afternic remapping" so that traffic goes to Afternic and not Dan.

Right now, all I am really wondering about is my primary question in that set that went unanswered:

When will Dan nameservers be forwarding to Afternic as promised?

And by that question, I am NOT referring to "migration remapping" and a hypothetical scenario like if I were to buy a new domain tomorrow and use NS1/NS2.DAN.COM as the nameservers, when would that domain forward to Afternic?

Three domains have the same issue and their status listed normally ( nothing in review ) .

Feature request: Please add Google Analytics to our landing pages. This information is widely available elsewhere, and the stats GA provides are essential to our ongoing domain analysis.

I'm not asking to reinvent the wheel; I'm just looking to add tools to help us decide when renewals come around.

We're planning a self-serve pending review system for 2025..

None of these are the case here. Like I said, no reason. I would understand if there was a plausible reason for domains going into review but the issue is it keeps happening on names where nothing has changed and none of the official reasons apply.

I’ve already reached out to support for a fix just waiting on a response.

Analytics on landers is a must have but they’ve already said multiple times they’re not gonna do it.

I recently turned a 5k sale into a 30k sale thanks to data gleaned from analytics… but nah that’s not an important feature.

I agree. As I stated, other platforms have this information available. At some point, they need to give us reasons to stay. Stats are everything in this business.

So, welcome back, creativity!

Random "In Review" did it for me. I don't point anything to Afternic anymore and doubt I ever will again. I even removed all my prices from Afternic listings so Sedo MLS will work but I'm 100% done with Afternic and Afternic MLS. Got tired of emailing to get the "In Review" ones fixed to see the same thing happen weeks later. If you don't email them they will sit "In Review" forever so nobody is actually reviewing anything.

I literally use anyone NamePros, Efty, Atom White Label, Sedo and I get 0 "In Review" or landers deciding they don't wanna work on certain days.

Until Afternic can get the basics down=domains not falling into review for no reason, landing pages staying the way you set them error free I personally don't think anyone should point their domains there. If a company can't get the basics down after months/years point somewhere that can like literally almost everyone besides Afternic.

I have no time for frustration so Afternic is out of my life as I'm just amazed a company of this size can't even get a basic sales lander to work consistently. Afternic should be charging 5% commission based on the inferior quality of their service.

Yes. I've almost come to feel we're being played like fish. This is not hobby sport - Some investors must get so very annoyed they retire entirely from the industry, leaving megaplayer holding all data & able to scavenge any treasures left behind. They already bought-out key competitors, closed them, and offer us something worse. Cut-throat? The big player could measure a domain's performance and risk little by pumping-up a shill sale, or a few of them, or encourage the unwitting Judas goat blogger. But that would be wrong. And sorry to offer GoDaddy sly new ideas, but some of us are now desperate. Also worth repeating: Most often, Domain sellers are technically clever; we try to find a way to succeed even after multiple dead ends. Feel crushed? It's deliberate policy...
