Thanks, @Recons.Com. The Custom Checkout Link will transition to the GoDaddy cart later this year, where you'll follow the usual checkout process.

James, I'd appreciate if you'd actually pay attention at what is the issue about. I am not concerned about Dan vs Godaddy link, although it would require less explaining why I suggested afternic checkout, only to get Dan (now), or Godaddy (in the future). The concern is that during completion of the transaction it doesn't show anywhere the name of the domain that I am paying for or if I am even paying for a domain. It should show at all times, at every page, what is the transaction for.

I was going to give them a chance, but it looks like they're going to keep Dan on life support, but without any way to process transactions, so all my domains are still in limbo.

How can one company screw things up so badly over and over and over.

Those are the Custom landers. You can enable them in settings/lander settings. You need to have a BIN to access them.

I remember now why I switched to Buy It Now. When custom first came out many were complaining it loaded slowly and sometimes didn't load at all. How are things with the Custom Lander nowadays? Is everything working? I think it's a much better look - so would switch if it works now

I'm sorry, but I can't help you as I've removed all prices on domains at Afternic and cannot use that lander. I'm using the Request Price lander.

But then some higher-ups at GD would have to answer difficult questions on why they approved the purchase of Afternic, and more importantly, why they continued to pour vast amounts of money into improvements at Afternic that really didn't amount to much (i.e 'polishing a turd'). So by getting rid of Dan, their prize turd sure looks a lot better.
It must be pretty well polished by now, surely. But all that shininess doesn't change what it is underneath.

I have. I still visit here to see if there is any reason to come back. Still waiting...

About the issue of emails from the brokers ending up in the client's spam folder

I think adding a phrase in the lander that says something like "Emails from us can sometimes end up in your spam folder, check it if you don't receive an email by 24h" will help, as more clients will keep an eye on their spam folders.

This is a 2nd post on Twitter about higher commission getting charged.

This happened to me a few months ago on Afternic, and GD refused to give my money back.

They blamed everyone from the Universe to my Registrar and stated that once the commission has been determined, there is "no way to reverse it".

Yeah sure, what kind of accounting system do they use that doesn't allow manual adjustments? What they're really saying is "we like money, so any errors go in our favor".

They do give you a checklist of items to supply (registrar outage records, WHOIS records, etc.) but as it was a smaller transaction, I just let it go, as I assume many others do as well.

Some big guys, like Konstantinos, will probably get a refund but it's not so easy for little guys.

I really think I need a break from this crap and if nothing has been done by the weekend and Dan is still on life support, then I might just down a pot of coffee and change my nameservers to NP and get the hell out of Dodge.

All this constant BS is like fate telling me to get as far away from GD as possible.

Nope, you can use the Custom Lander with Make Offer now - it didn't use to work (it popped up an error and defaulted to the Request Price lander) but I had a recent PM conversation with GD about it and it now works. I've tested it myself.

Try it out, and if you don't have a BIN be sure to use "Make Offer" in the drop-down.
